Largehearted Boy Book Notes

Yay! My Playlist is on Largehearted Boy

I might be walking with a little bit of a swagger today because my Well Fed playlist is featured on Largehearted Boy! In case you’re not familiar with this badass site, it’s generally described as a music blog, but it’s way more than that. It offers daily free music downloads, and it’s also packed with pop culture, literature news, and Book Notes, a feature in which authors share playlists inspired by their books.

My Well Fed playlist is live today; have fun reading  and listening! (I’m beyond thrilled to find myself alongside so many amazing authors.)

Welcome, Largehearted Boy Readers!

If you’re visiting here for the first time because you read my Book Notes playlist, I’m glad you stopped by! I hope you’ll be inspired to at least consider the notion of trying the paleo way of eating, or lifting some heavy things, or giving yoga and meditation a shot. All of those things will change your life for the better and in ways you can’t predict. Let me show you around a little bit…

About Me and This Blog
To learn the mystery behind why my site is called The Clothes Make The Girl, as well as get the scoop on how I made the switch to paleo (and why), please visit my About page. You can also learn a lot about the kinds of things I think really matter by reading through my Fave Posts.

Paleo, Recipes & My Cookbook

If you’re curious about what paleo is all about, visit my Paleo 101 page for the “No” list, the “Yes” list, and a slew of helpful resources.

This is an index of all the paleo recipes on my site – or you can browse the recipes with photos and excerpts, too.

As you know, I recently released a cookbook! Well Fed: Paleo Recipes For People Who Love To Eat is a handbook for getting started with paleo eating and inclues more than 115 recipes – all with full-page photos and lots of fun stories about my favorite foods.

Well you are in amazing company on that website, I’ve bookmarked it for future reference. Also have noted some of your music choices which sound appealing- love your blog, your recipes, your book reviews, so I figure you will have interesting music too!

Mel, I was defeated twice this weekend. Assault by mayonaise. I have had a lot of pride in never having had a mayo fail until this weekend. And now after one weekend, I have racked up two. I have successfully made mayo more than a dozen times (so good!) under the EXACT same circumstances. So what was it this time? First, I thought it was the oil I purchased. It was not light tasting, so I went back to the blender with the light tasting version of olive oil (not EV). It still came out in pure liquid form. Could it be that my lemon juice is old? I set the timer to 3 mins and I swear it took me OVER the 3 mins to pour an entire cup of oil into the blender.

I’m scared to try again. But, I can’t live without my creamy dressings!

    • Mel says:

It could be the lemon juice or the size of the egg. Nom Nom Paleo swears by using only yolks — you might try 2 yolks instead of the one whole egg?

      Be brave!

  • Kelly R. says:

I won! I made mayo yesterday and my confidence is back! I bought a new lemon juice and it seemed to help. I will savor eery bite knowing it took me two batches to get here!
