It’s been a month since the release of Well Fed 2: More Paleo Recipes For People Who Love To Eat, and thanks to all of you, we’ve had several exciting reasons to celebrate. Our first print run of 20,000 sold out within two weeks (which just about gave Dave, who is in charge of inventory, a heart attack). During the week of October 26, our book appeared on the Washington Post‘s Best Seller list for nonfiction. PopSugar Fitness included Well Fed 2 in its list of “must haves” for November, and Amazon’s editors named Well Fed 2 one of the best books of 2013! (Here’s the cookbook list; use the right arrow to find us.)
That’s all because you beautiful people read my blog and eat my recipes and buy our book and tell your friends and review WF2 on your blogs and are just, generally, the awesomest internet people in the universe.
UPDATE 12/1/2013: We’ve got a winner! Thank you, everyone, for sharing your gratitude in the comments.
To show you our gratitude, we’ve lined up some of our favorite paleo products for a giveaway that can only barely hint at how much we appreciate you. I hope you like this prize pack — and please do support these companies. They generously offered up their products to share with you and to join in our celebration.
GoodBody Baked Goods: Ultimate Box O’Goodness (1 bag of each of the five flavors)
I don’t often eat paleo treats, but when I do, I always crave GoodBody Baked Goods. [my review]
Primal Pacs: 5 small packs, 5 large packs, and 3 jerky-only packs, plus a t-shirt or tank top
My #1 choice for paleo-to-go: grass-fed, clean-as-a-whistle jerky, macadamia nuts and marcona almonds, dried mango (DRIED MANGO!) and cranberries. Also Whole30 approved!
Paleo Magazine: 1-year subscription
It’s the only full-color, glossy, print magazine dedicated to paleo eating, good lifestyle habits, and the personalities behind the science and food. (And soon, you’ll be seeing writing from me in each issue!)
Lava Lake Lamb: $100 gift card
My love for lamb rivals my affection for (fatty, crispy) pork, and Lava Lake Lamb offers the most delicious lamb I’ve ever eaten. And trust me, I’ve eaten a lot of lam. [my review]
Tendergrass Farms: 5 pounds grass-fed ground beef, plus free shipping
I love everything about this company, from their delicious meat (raised to be happy and healthy) to their attention to detail (even the t-shirts are environmentally friendly) to their business practices (family-owned, operated with integrity). [my review]
Lunchbots: Large leakproof set
Before Lunchbots, I cared more about the food inside the containers than what I stored it in — but the large leakproof set totally changed my mind. (And all of the Lunchbots containers are, like, bulletproof and awesome.) Stainless steel, practically indestructible, the perfect size for a batch of soup or chili… these are a kitchen workhorse. [my review]
Chomps Snack Sticks: Box of 24 Chomps sticks
These little dudes are freakin’ good — like, “take me back to my junk food days of eating Slim Jims” good. And believe me, that’s high praise, indeed. [my review]
Carbonell Olive Oil: Swag pack with apron, towel, tote bag, and extra-virgin olive oil
This recently became my favorite extra-virgin olive oil: mild, fruity, luscious, and found in regular ol’ grocery stores. [my review]

I am grateful for an understanding family that lets me eat “weird” (not my word, by the way). I am the only Paleo eater in the house, and I have their full support. They’ll even try my creations and not get mad when I don’t eat birthday cake with them. 🙂
Thankful that I found Paleo last year! And your cookbooks :). Changed my life!
My family, my health and my country make me Thankful!
and grateful!
I am thankful for more great recipes and advice for paleo living,
Grateful for the opportunity to win this goody giveaway.
I am thankful for my son who has lead myself and many others down this road to REAL food. It has changed the lives of many. I am also pleased to hear that your Well Fed 2 is doing so well. It is encouraging to know that so many people are looking at food in a healthier way. The more we demand quality food, the more will become available.
I am grateful to have a community that supports and uplifts the Paleo lifestyle. I know I can go online at any time and find so much help. Thanks for having a blog that encourages healthy eating!
I’m really grateful that my husband and I have amazing friends. Our jobs have us living apart temporarily and friends make it bearable.
Unrelated, I loved Well Fed so much that I bought book 2 without even browsing it. It showed up right before I went out of town and I’m looking forward to making great things when I get home.
I’m thankful I get to host Thanksgiving this year, so I know all the food will be safe for me (I have celiac disease) and healthy (I’m planning an all-paleo meal). I’m also thankful for my understanding and helpful husband. I couldn’t do it without his support!
I am grateful for my husband, who is traveling down the Paleo road with me and who is the most loving and supportive person I know. I am grateful for your posts about your trials with the thyroid, which provide inspiration to those like me just starting with hormone experiments.
I’m thankful that I stumbled upon WellFed, a gateway book that has changed the way I eat. Sometimes I get a little bummed that I didn’t find my way to this lifestyle earlier but there’s no use crying over spilled mild. Besides…milk isn’t Paleo. 🙂
I am thankful to be ‘ahead of the curve’ in my knowledge and understanding of how changing your diet can not only make your belly-troubles go away, but can also make your skin clear up, your recovery from workouts faster, and your energy levels more sustained. I say ‘ahead of the curve’ because I’ve been mostly paleo for about 2 years now, and many of my coworkers are slowly converting over as they age and have more health problems that their doctors prescribe dangerous medications for. They take the rX as a wake-up call and are finally willing to try more conservative methods.
I’m grateful that by helping myself, I can lead by example for others to help themselves.
I am grateful for family & friends!! Also very thankful for paleo eats that make me feel good…and also for your awesome mayo recipe!! 🙂
I am thankful that I get to eat your delicious food and not count ONE SINGLE CALORIE of it!!!!!!!!!!
Feeling grateful for a day of cooking, a warm house and a wonderful family!
Grateful for Whole 30, Well Fed & Well Fed 2, and a supportive man who will eat everything I cook and (at least pretend) to love every bite! (His favorite is the Sunshine Sauce) 🙂
I am thankful that my girlfriend found this goldmine of a book. Way to make paleo awesomely delicious, she knocks it out of the park whenever shes in the kitchen. Also thankful for my family and friends.
I am thankful for my family’s support. They are not Paleo, but since I host Thansgiving and many of the holidays, they support me cooking mostly paleo dishes with just a few of the old favorites thrown in for them. I never hear any complaints about not having pasta, etc. They are the best around!
I am thankful for my husband and my health. And my kitty : )
Im thankful that my family have taken an interest, in eating cleaner and getting exercise after watching me eat “weird” the past few years. My mom has even begun crossfit! Love it!
I am grateful that I was able to get a copy of Well Fed 2 so that I could make some of the recipes for this coming Thanksgiving. I am grateful to be able to feed my family healthy and tasty food, and I am grateful that there are people like the folks behind “Well Fed 2” to help me along that road.
Thank you
I’m so grateful that my friends intoduced me to this site, Paleo, crossfit, and a healthy way of life in general!
Right now, I am grateful for paleo food choices that are healthy, nutritious and delicious. I’m also grateful that there are many, many more of these options that I can share with my friends and family.
I am thankful for all the wonderful blessings in my life: my sweet family, a job I love, supportive community, my health, and grace.
I am very grateful that I took charge of my health and feel better than I ever!
I’m grateful that I have amazing friends who are more than happy to share their family Thanksgivings with me when I can’t make it home to be with my own family for the holidays 🙂
Right now, I’m grateful for the hunters in my life who have shared venison with me. It makes the very best chili.
I am grateful for the gift of friendship! I have two friends ask enormous favors of me this week, both of which touched my heart, while another friend moved halfway across the country. Friendship makes it all worthwhile!
I am thankful for the farmers that work hard to provide us with real quality food. I am thankful for bloggers like yourself that provide us with a wealth of information. I am also thankful for my family and friends.
I am grateful for my friend, Christine, who I met when we were doing internship together. I was always 20 lbs overweight, tired, anxious, and had skin problems. One day, Christine casually mentioned the paleo diet and changed my life. I did my first paleo challenge feb 2013 and lost 15 lbs in one month. My skin problems improved and I only felt anxious in anxiety producing situations (as opposed to feeling anxious all the time). Since then, I’m still mostly paleo (my “cheats” consist of rice) as well as 100% gluten, dairy, and added sugar free. I also started crossfit and have become stronger, healthier, and happier. All of this was because of one person and what she thought was a casual conversation. 🙂
I am simply thankful for each day that I get to spend with my two beautiful girls.
My mom traveling to be with us every year for my daughter’s birthday, my grandmother turning 90 on Tuesday (and celebrating 71 years of marriage to my grandfather on New Year’s Eve, God willing), and loads of family time in the coming weeks…these are the things that make me feel grateful right now!
I am grateful for the delicious Sweet Potato with bacon soup I just had for dinner. Delicious!
My health. I’ve had a challenging year illness-wise but I’m still standing and am in awe at my body’s resilience.
I am grateful for access to healthy food options and getting out into nature’s playground each weekend!
I am grateful for all the support I have had over the past years since realizing I have many food sensitivities. It is a true blessing for individuals such as you to produce blogs, cookbooks, etc. to help people learn to eat better!
Thank you!
I am grateful that prayers led me to a holistic health doctor. In March my shoulder, hip and knee hurt really bad. I hurt all the time. After taking anti-inflammatories, my stomach hurt for 3 months and I was so totally depressed. My doctor took me off flour, sugar and dairy. Also no processed foods. In one week all the joints quit hurting and my stomach didn’t hurt any more. As of today I have lost 66 pounds and feel absolutely great!! I have so much energy and want to keep eating well. I can’t express my gratitude, I would have never thought at 65 I would feel this great.
Too many things to type Mellissa! At this very moment my heart is bursting because my practice is thriving, I get to help relieve people’s pain and I get to introduce people to the paleo diet on a daily basis. I get to recommend your amazing website and books to my clients all the time and a lot of them listen 🙂
I am thankful for the ability to so easily communicate with my boy who is in college in CA. Between, texting, Facetime, email and Facebook, I am still able to feel connected to him!
I am grateful for my husband and awesome step kids.
So unbelievably grateful for the best year of university I’ve had yet – Special thanks to my university rugby team and the chance to represent my school at Nationals (the first time for our school in 8 years!). Amazing teammates, encouraging roommates and very supportive friends and family back home. Can’t forget to give huge thanks to my box (Esp. my coaches!) at home for getting me into CrossFit 2 years ago and onto the Paleo track 🙂
I am grateful for my Creator, for all the blessings He has brought to me in my life and for always being there in the tough times to help me grow and stretch myself.
I am so grateful that I found out about the Paleo lifestyle. I have struggled most of my life with issues related to food. For the first time I feel like this is a way of life that I can really adopt. THANK YOU for being a part of this journey!!
On a bitterly cold night in New England, I am grateful for a warm and cozy apartment. It’s not a palace by any means, but I love it.
I am grateful to be in the best shape of my life due to CrossFit a clean healthy diet and a supportive community. It’s great to be on top of the world at 52!
I am grateful for my health. It is something that I have always taken for granted. Just a few weeks ago I learned just how fragile your body can be and to tressure/take care of yourself. It is the only one you have.
I am thankful for a supportive family and community. New journeys are never easy, but it has been worth every step!
I’m grateful that there really are people out there who truly want to bring something positive and healthy into the world, instead of just those who want to bring whatever will make them the most money. The gift of ISWF and both Well Fed’s have made a huge difference in my quality of life. I’m grateful for Melissa J, the whole Whole 9 team, plus my neurologist for getting me started on this, and helping me see this through.
I am most grateful for my wife who supports me in my madness, loves me despite my faults, is a perfect partner, a dear friend and the answer to the prayers of my heart.
I am grateful I found the Paleo lifestyle and have passed the information to all my personal training clients. They love Well Fed 2!!!
I’m thankful for my family and friends. They are such an amazing support system I just am so lucky to have them in my life.
I’m thankful for the privilege to make choices everyday that allow us to share our stories, passions and kindness with others.
I am grateful for those who have dedicated their lives to bettering the health of others!
Right now, I am grateful to have a cat who is eating again. After a huge scare and a moment to grasp that he won’t be with me forever, I am ever so grateful for his love and companionship. 🙂
What makes me feel grateful right now is the love and support shown to me by my family this past year as I had some changes in my life. Especially with my diet changes and conquering another Whole30 this past summer!
I am grateful for the bloggers and professionals who have taken on their passion to inform us about this amazing way of eating. I have been doing paleo for 9 weeks and have never felt so good!
Thank you!
I am grateful for… The pork roast recipe (we’ve had it twice and the whole fam loves it!), the Brussels sprout recipe (ditto!), snow on the ground and boys to sled with (followed by non-paleo hot chocolate- it’s a balance, right?), and a husband who enjoys trying all things paleo as much as I do!
I am thankful for the time I spend with my granddaughter and how eating the right food for my body gives me the energy to run, play, and jump so I can keep up with her.
Always grateful for my family, but especially this year for putting up with my med school-induced stress! Can’t wait to go home for Thanksgiving! Also grateful for you, Mel, for putting out these awesome cookbooks and helping us eat healthy! 🙂
It’s my BIRTHDAY and I’m thankful for each day of my 45 years!
I’m so grateful for my family and my health 🙂
I am grateful for my family and friends. I struggle with maintaining a healthy dieting and choosing the right food, but I’m grateful to have to enough food, period. Happy thanksgiving!
I’m grateful that I’ve got friends who inspire me
I’m grateful for friends and family who are continually supportive of me and motivate me to reach my goals.
I’m grateful that paleo eating has completely changed my quality of life. I’m also grateful that I’m marrying a man that will also partner with me in this for the rest of our lives.
So grateful for 3 generations that found this great way to eat and enjoy life. It keeps grammy healthy and involved!
I’m greatful for finding paleo and this community. It’s because of people like you and your site that I was able to learn all about paleo and better my health lose weight and feel amazing. This community has done more for me and I’m sure many others than the drs we have paid and trusted all our lives. Ty for sharing what has now made my life amazing. Xoxo
I’m grateful for all the fun, entertaining things there are to do in life!
I’m grateful for my seemingly newfound ability to find beauty in the present moment even when I’m mourning my past. I’m grateful for my amazing child, and for my animules (no, that’s not a typo). I’m grateful for my family, and for my friends who are part of a bigger family. I’m grateful for having realized that self-love is really, really important and deserves more than lip service. I’m grateful for the opportunity to try again every day. I’m grateful for your blog and for olive oil mayo and chocolate chili. Am grateful to realize I could keep going here! Thank you. 🙂
I’m grateful for my doctor who told me about Whole 30 and Palio. I love my healthier lifestyle!
I’m thankful for the internet. I know, that sounds totally dorky and lame, but I am. Why am I thankful for the internet? Because it’s allowed me to connect with people from my past; it’s allowed me to connect with a truly wonderful person who then happened to move to my city and help me make big steps in my (hopefully soon, total) recovery from life-halting anxiety; it’s helped me learn about various illnesses after being diagnosed and it’s helped me connect with others who also deal with them and therefore find a bit of comfort and strength and support; it’s helped me discover so much in the way of art/artists, philosophy, spirituality; it’s helped me find things that inspire me to create in my own life which is a wonderful, therapeutic, and glorious thing; it’s helped me learn more about health, nutrition, food, and it’s helped me find your blog, through Facebook- which is pretty effing spiffy. The internet, while it has its obvious downfalls, has also changed lives in a variety of ways, for the better. Mine included. Which is why I am grateful for it. 🙂
I am thankful that I have heat where I live; there are so many that do not!
I went to a holistic doctor after my regular doctor strongly recommended I have my thyroid removed. My new doctor said that I may still need to have my thyroid removed, but that I should stop eating gluten and wheat. She recommended a book on healing the immune system. I started exploring what else I should avoid eating. So, out of this scary situation, I’m so grateful that I discovered the Paleo lifestyle and I just started a Whole30 challenge today!
This is the most epic paleo giveaway I’ve ever seen!!! Soooo exciting, someone is going to be one happy well fed paleo junkie. So what am I thankful for right now? Probably a lot, actually! I’m thankful for my kitchen and for my ability to go in there and make delicious healthy things happen. I know a lot of people are incapable of making time to cook, so I am really lucky to be able to do that. YEs I work full time and never miss a CrossFit class–but I have very few other hurdles to keep me from giving myself nutritious delicious food. I’m also lucky to have my health, wonderful friends, a loving family, and a boyfriend who makes me feel special every day 🙂
Right now I feel grateful to have a healthy family, a warm safe place to live, and the time and resources to keep working at improving our lives.
I am grateful for my husband, my health, and my new job!
I am grateful for a strong body that lets me move and lift. A healthy mind that let’s me think critically. A loving spirit that allows me to see the challenge in adversity. And mostly for an amazing family that lifts each other through the rough times.
I am thankful for finding this lifestyle and being able to fulfill my mother’s death bed wish of me losing weight and being more healthy so I can live a longer healthier life than she did for me and my family. She passed away from pancreatic cancer at a young age of 64.
I am so thankful to have learned about the paleo diet. It has changed my life tremendously and has given me the opportunity to help people around me as well. I am blessed for this opportunity!!
I feel really grateful right now because I have choices I can freely make. Like whether I want to eat paleo or not. I have the choice of eating healthy foods or not. And that’s compared to some people in the world where they don’t have access to basic necessities like food or clean water. Thank you for your motivation and your wonderful information! It keeps me going!
I am thankful for beauty that surrounds me in my Central Oregon home. I am thankful for my loving family that lives far away, and for my “adopted family” of friends that live close by. I am thankful for a wonderful and supportive partner, and the unconditional love of my four-legged rescue doggy companion. I am also thankful for the two awesome cookbooks, Well Fed and Well Fed 2, for helping me totally rock my Whole145 challenge.
There are so many things but as Thanskgiving and Christmas approach, it’s so apparent how grateful I am to be able to eat as a choice. To choose to even have a Paleo Thanksgiving is quite a blessing and I consider myself lucky. It’s also so wonderful that I can invite someone over to share the day who would otherwise be home alone.
I am grateful for my wonderful family. Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday (despite its questionable origin story), because it allows me to combine some of my favorite things: delicious food, great company and ample time for reflection. This year, I was having anxiety about the holiday because it’s the first year my siblings and I are doing separate dinners with my mom and my dad, but planning our menus and trying to ensure we have healthy options for everyone has gotten me back into the spirit and optimistic that this will be a positive, though different, celebration.
I’m grateful for a four day holiday from work, so that I can enjoy my family and try out some of the new recipies in Well Fed 2.
I am grateful for better health this year thanks to gluten-free and sugar-free eating, amazing and supportive paleo cooking resources and that my family allows me to bring my ‘weird’ gluten free/sugar free food items to share at Thanksgiving. This year the biscuits, veggie dish and 1 dessert are all made by me with fresh ingredients & all healthy!
I am thankful for finding your first cookbook. For someone that doesn’t like to cook, this has shown me that it can be done easily. Can’t wait to check out the WF2.
I am extremely grateful for finding the paleo lifestyle and getting my health back! I am also thankful for having a husband who is willing to maintain this lifestyle with me, because doing it on my own would be so much harder. Eating this way has literally changed my life. In less than a year and a a half, I am completely off all of my medications, including two cancer class drugs, several immunosuppressants, and high doses of prednisone. Life is good!
I am so very thankful for people and blogs like yours. A couple months ago I was struggling with stomach problems, you name it I had it, then I came across the Paleo Diet and the Whole30 Program and adapted some of these techniques and it not only helped me a ton but I am finally returning to my normal self again and I can’t tell you how thankful I am for that (not to mention with your recipes it makes it so easy!).
I am thankful for my beautiful healthy children who are amazingly open to trying new foods. They take some persuading sometimes but I am blessed. I know people whose kiddos eat only hotdogs or only lunchables lol. I’m glad I don’t have to battle that.
I am truly grateful that my boyfriend, who just 4 months ago didn’t feel the need to spend extra money on organic food, has finally come around to point of eating paleo all on his own!! He feels so much better and noticed so many positive changes in his body. Not to mention.. It’s a lot easier when you don’t have cheat foods laying around!
I’m thankful that after five months of being “Well Fed” my parents have both reversed their Type 2 Diabetes and are off all meds, my husband is off blood pressure and cholesterol meds, I’m off asthma meds, and my kids are healthier and happier than ever. Thanks for helping us find our health through excellent food.
Very grateful for my family and friends, and especially my boyfriend who has been crossfit-ing with me since March of this year. He’s been a champ taste testing all the paleo recipes I try 🙂
Eating paleo has pretty much eliminated a lot of the digestive issues I used to have. So yes, I’m very grateful for the paleo lifestyle.
I am grateful that I have the luxury to choose what I eat, and that I can afford fresh, healthy food.
I’m grateful to live and work in a wonderful city.
I am grateful for God, my husband and son and that I am grateful to find Paleo so that I can live a healthy long life with my family.
I am grateful for family, friends, health, and happiness. Life is good!
I’m thankful for good health and family!
I am greatful for my health and my family and my rescue dogs that I can give a better home to.for friends that support me and life. <3
I am greatful for finally finding a way of eating that makes me feel good, happy, and so proud of myself. I am 26 and started at 230lbs and really down on myself and in denile. Now I absolutely love cooking and trying new paleo recipies. I’m thankful for all of those who publish their recipies in books and online. And I’m grateful that now when I go to work and teach my 10 very active special edu 4 yr olds, I am now gaining back the energy they require and the ease of being able to get up and down off the floor. I am so grateful at how happy I now am and how much I love eating paleo, how good my body feels, and how excited I now am in the kitchen! It’s not only helped at home but at work too and I’m so grateful how eating paleo has changed my life!
I am thankful for so much… My family and to be husband. A way of eating that has been healing and restored my life and aided in losing over 100 lbs. Being employed and living out on my own. Life is a gift and I’m really beginning to see that.
I’m thankful of all the healthy eating friends I have made on the Whole30 journey. I feel more connected to healthy eaters than I ever have. I’m also thankful for your meatballs in Well Fed 2.
I am grateful for this amazing journey of love, patience, fulfillment and surprise that is raising my spirited, young daughter.
I’m grateful my Pilates instructor told me about whole30 and ISWF. We did a group whole30 in January and I have been eating paleo every since. The whole30 lead me to you and I purchased your first cook book – love it!
I’m thankful for all that God has given me. I truly need nothing more but would be grateful for these prizes should I win!
I am grateful for each and every day. It’s always a new opportunity to enjoy the people and things (including food) that bring me such joy.
I am so ever grateful for trying a 30 day Paleo Challenge, that is now in its 7th month! I love the new lifestyle and after a glowing review at the doctors with weight loss, blood work and cholesterol numbers I am hooked!
I am grateful for my beautiful family & friends that have been on this amazing journey called LIFE!!! LOVE LIFE 🙂
I feel graduate for everyday that I get to walk this earth.
I just started the paleo diet less than a month ago. It is always nice to find food I can eat and people to talk to about lessons learned.
My Health!
I’m greatful that I started the journed of whole30. 3 years ago. What a journey!!! Would have never learned about Melissa and excellent food. Just gave my sister the “paleo for dummies book!! Thank you Melissa
Thankful for a brother and his now fiancee who helped us get our feet wet with Paleo last Thanksgiving; for a daughter who did a whole 30 challenge with me this summer; and for a wonderfully supportive husband and family who are willing to try anything at least once! It’s a fabulous journey!
I am grateful for the dedication of the leaders in the Paleo community, such as yourself, who are so generous with your time and have the desire to help others. After 4 long years of searching, I finally feel like I am on the right track to healing myself and hopefully feeling better. I spend countless hours educating myself through your blogs/websites/posts and books. I am so grateful. I hope to experience the transformation in my life and give back to others when I am feeling well again.
I am grateful to have discovered Paleo living in my 30s & that I can influence my parents & my child with healthy lifestyle choices to live long & productive lives by taking care of their bodies with exercise & the right foods.
I am grateful for the eye-opening experience the whole30 provided, the great strides my household has made ridding itself of processed foods, added sugars, and harmful ingredients, feeling better, stronger and healthier – a gift that I can keep forever
I am grateful that my daughter is having a good year on exchange in Europe and that I am finally starting to get a handle on my sugar issues.
I am thankful for my good health, my new husband, my supportive family and that I am gainfully employed!
I am grateful for the opportunity to have learned about the effect of the foods we eat on our bodies, the friends that introduced me to this lifestyle and the Well Fed cookbook (which i use A LOT–my egg foo young is to die for), and for my job which allows me the ability to pay more for the good healthy food. Thank you.
Im grateful for all the peole who support me eating paleo, even though dont eat the same way.
I am grateful my path to wellness has led me to soon donate my kidney to a friend and fellow Crossfitter. I passed the medical evaluation with gold stars thanks to eating paleo (special thanks to WF and Whole30!) and doing CrossFit. It took me 37 years before I figured out that eating REAL food makes all the difference in the world and every day I am thankful for my health and honored I can soon help another person live a longer and better life.
I’m grateful for my husband and four kids and the ability to provide real healthy food for them.
I am thankful to have a wonderful family, a gym that I can call home and a fridge that holds our families new recipes. We are still newbies to eating paleo but love the results we are seeing.
I feel grateful right now for God’s Blessing on my life: 3 Healthy children, a Supportive husband and Energy filled life due to say Bye Bye to soda and sugary substance and Hello to Clean Eating and plenty of rest!!
I am grateful for finding a new lifestyle and an exciting road to health. I am also grateful for the 2 best cookbooks (Well Fed and Well Fed 2) in the world! Every recipe has been outstanding; can’t wait to try every single recipe!
I am grateful for my loving, supportive family. Also for my boyfriend, who eats all of my cooking experiments, no matter what.
I’m thankful for all the wonderful people (such as yourself) who are sharing the “good food word” and that the message reached me!
I am SO thankful for my husband and my girls who are amazing gifts from the Lord to me! I am grateful to Jesus for all of His blessings in my life, especially eternal life.
What makes me feel grateful right now…it’s a long list! I’m constantly counting my blessings because the family I have, especially my husband and son, are always here for me and mean so much to me. I’m grateful I get to help my dad come back to a healthy lifestyle after his heart surgery set him back. I’m grateful my Grandmother is still with us, and still shares stories of her life and what my Grandpa was like. I’m grateful I get to wake up in a warm bed, and eat good food, because it hasn’t always been warm and there hasn’t always been food. I’m grateful for ISWF, and the whole9, because it opened up a whole new world of how to live! 🙂 just thankful for it all!
I am so grateful for the humor in your cook books! I don’t really *love* cooking, but I do love to laugh so it helps! I’ve tried a few other paleo cookbooks and Well Fed is by far my favorite. Can’t wait to try my first Well Fed 2 recipe!
I’m grateful for the ability to make choices. Whether these choices are about what I eat, wear, participate in, where I live, who I share my time with, etc., I’m blessed with a sound mind to be able to make decisions and have the freedom to make and follow through with them. Without choices, I would’ve never had the opportunity to help make a difference in others’ lives or choose positive healthy options for my family and myself. I’m grateful to be able to choose to be so.
free time to spend with all my family makes me most grateful!
I’m grateful for the ability and the support to change my life, get my health back and the self-control it takes. After many weeks of debate/nervousness, I finally enrolled in Crossfit and convinced a friend to go with me. I’m beyond excited to see the changes in my body from Crossfit and eating a Paleo diet.
I’m soo thankful for discovering paleo/primal and all the wonderful bloggers and writers that teach me so much about helping my family’s health!
I am greatful for finding the paleo community and sharing the world of paleo with friends and family.
I’m so grateful for my awesome family and friends, my health and vitality, to be young, realizing at such an early age that my purpose in life is to persevere, the journey ahead along with the daily struggle, to continue to be the strongest version of myself, and the delicious food that is available to us all 🙂
This has been a year of major upheaval in my life – all for the better. I conquered so many hurdles with the support of my friends; for them I’m so grateful.
I am thankful for my husband’s supportive presence and behavior since I began eating Paleo Sept 15. He tries whatever I cook and when he is not eating on plan, he doesn’t eat in front of me.
I am thankful that I finally found a solution to virtually eliminate the pain I had been living with for so long. I will eat paleo for the rest of my life. Thank you for making it easy for me to find/make great paleo eats!
Your original WellFed Cookbook carried me through my first Whole 30 and the first few months after my celiac diagnosis. I continue to use your cookbooks every week and my husband says I’m a better cook now than when we were eating the standard American diet. I give you the credit for that 🙂 Thanks for being brilliant!
I am thankful for access to knowledge. Without this I would not be on a path to better health. I am thankful for learning about the benefits of a paleo lifestyle and how this contributes not just to my health today but to disease prevention in the future. I am thankful that I can choose to reject the mainstream cultures attempt to force-feed me consumerism and quick-fix pharmaceuticals. Thank you for not being afraid to be a leader and bringing this alternative lifestyle to those willing to grow.
I am SO thankful that food is medicine. We can make the choice to supply this medicine to our pain-filled bodies. I am thankful for Well Fed for making this so DO-ABLE!
Wow, what a prize! I’m grateful that my husband learned about Paleo eating 2+ years ago and we made the switch. The health difference for me is huge. I can’t imagine ever eating differently again. Our copy of Well Fed is so well-loved, pages are falling out. WellFed2 will be under the tree this Christmas, for sure!
I’m grateful for all the supportive people in my life. It’s easy to forget how important and helpful that support is… Especially when you’re making tough choices and setting hard goals.
I’m so thankful for all the paleo bloggers like you who helped me become healthy again and “chefy” and happy!
This is amazing! I am grateful for my improving health, my family, finding love again, the sunshine and the beach, my unconditional kitty love, and so much. Thank you!
I’m so grateful for you! Thanks for providing me so many delicious new ideas for paleo cooking. May the kitchen NEVER be boring. I’ve now bought 4 copies of WF2 (tis the gifting season!)
Currently I am grateful for a roof over my head and heat in my home. It is almost winter and there are so many people without basic necessities, we sometimes forget how fortunate we are.
I’m grateful for my family and friends.
I am grateful for my non-paleo family. They support me wholeheartedly and are soooo good to me!

I’m grateful for a wonderful family. And 2 kids willing to do a 15 day paleo challenge.
I am just greatful to be alive. I have had a horrible pregnancy complicated by life threatening conditions. I am almost to the end and I am thankful the baby and I are both going to be ok.
Grateful to see some family that I normally don’t spend thanksgiving with. And stretch pants.
I am grateful for my health and the health of my family! I’m also grateful for the delicious recipes you’ve published so they eat well and don’t even know it!
My children and my husband!

Holy awesome giveaway! Woo hoo! I am beyond grateful for my health(thanks to Paleo) and the fact that even though I am thousands of miles away from my family I still get to spend Thanksgiving with my future family, my future inlaws. I’m a lucky girl!
I’m grateful for my health, my sobriety, my faith and my family. I used to be what was deemed “super morbidily obese.” I’ve lost 150#, practice Bikram yoga and can be present. I am grateful to fit in a go-cart with my child, to be able to see the world with them without having to sit down to catch my breath, to model to them a healthy lifestyle and self care, because I know they learn how to treat themselves by how we treat ourselves. Happy Thanksgiving!
I have so many things…health, family, friends, great vacations. Aren’t we all so lucky?! Thank you for all you do!!!!
I am grateful for all the fabulous recipes you have provided my family with. And all the knowledge you have shared. My family is so much healthier thanks to you.
I’m grateful for my health and physical ability to do CrossFit. It’s my birthday! Well Fed 1 was my first paleo cookbook!
I’m grateful for clean water and fresh food. So many people on this Earth don’t have access to either. I have a good job that pays me well enough to afford a roof over my head and food on the table. I have a vehicle that runs. Most importantly, I have people who love me and whom I love. Life doesn’t get much better than that.
I am thankful that my Mother at age 80 is willing to change her diet to gluten free, and more natural/whole foods, so that she will feel better, also that my cousin will do the same and is already feeling better after a week. Thanks for all the information, bloggers like you give to us to allow us to live longer and to give us the tools to pass on the information.
Bought WELL Fed in pdf over a year ago. SO exciting to change my eating habits with the delicious recipes. When I ordered Well Fed 2, I treated myself to a paper copy of the original as well. Love the photos and the care put into each item. You make good eats so fun Melissa. Thanks!
I am grateful that people are willing to share paleo recipes so I can try new things all the time, particularly with being on the AIP. 8)
I am thankful for my family and friends!
I’m grateful for my health (thanks to Paleo) and my awesome son!
I’m grateful that I’m no longer in pain so intense it would take my breath away. I keep my ulcer and celiac in check by eating clean!
I am grateful for my ability to cook. Growing up, most of my meals came from highly processed sources. The paleo diet helped me learn the difference between real food and all of the other junk that is pushed onto us by large corporations.
I am grateful for my family!
I am grateful for my family and my friends they support me no matter what. They encourage my eating habits even on thanksgiving. I am the only one who eats paleo. They even will try anything that I attempt to make on my own without a recipe guide!
I am grateful for the many opportunities I have been given and my children.
I am first and foremost eternally grateful for my supportive husband. He’s followed along with me on first going gluten-free, then primal. I’m thankful for my improving health and weight loss. I’m thankful for my two healthy adult children. And lastly, all the wonderful support and information in the paleo/primal community.
I am grateful for this incredible community that comes together to support one another!
I thankful for my beautiful family and friends. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Melissa!
I’m grateful that my best friend is awesomeness incarnate and that the month long migraine seems to have finally broken. Two different sort of “gratefuls,” there, but still the ones uppermost on my mind at the moment. 🙂
I’m grateful to still have a roof over our heads, being a lot more healthier than we were a year ago, and for my loving wife.
I am grateful to be alive and well!
I’m grateful for a community that continues to support my prefered good choices. It allows me to present delicious goods to my family, on well thought out, well tested recipes.
This book is my Christmas gift to many this year!!
I’m grateful for my health. I was in a serious car accident recently and luckily I walked away with only a few injuries. I’ve come to appreciate my family and friends more than I ever have. I’m thankful that this accident was able to be something somewhat good and afforded me the opportunity to take stock of all the wonderful things I have in my life.
Right now I am grateful for the time and ability to educate myself and change the way I eat as I adapt to a new chapter in my life that requires my mindfulness.
On this cold Austin day I’m grateful for heat, our fireplace, and the chicken and veggies I’m roasting in the oven!
I’m grateful that things finally clicked with my husband – vegetable oil is bad, grassfed is good, etc. It makes shopping and cooking together fun again!
I am grateful for the strength and ability to teach my daughter a better way to live.
After being sick for two years and not knowing why, I changed my diet a year ago and haven’t looked back. I’m grateful to be able to go on my morning runs, to spend quality time with my husband, and just generally feeling alive.
I am grateful for all the diet resources for good health, not prescription medication like most modern medicine Drs. would prescribe.
I Love Well Fed and hope to add 2 to my collection!
I am super grateful for my family and all of their support.
I am grateful for my life. Three High school classmates have died in the past year from various things and it really brought focus to the fact that we just never know how much time we have left and should be thankful every day that we are still here.
I am grateful for my family most of all. My parents are getting up there (my dad turns 80 the day after Thanksgiving, and his health is failing rapidly) and I am thankful for every single moment that he is still in my life. I am also grateful for adversity, for that is what reminds us to appreciate what we have!
I’m grateful that Melissa wrote her cookbooks, so I can benefit from her knowledge and her awesome recipes!
I’m grateful for the support & patience of my non-paleo DH (&his parents who we visit at the holidays) as I’ve over the years gone from vegetarian to gluten free and now paleo in trying to improve my health & performance
Thank you for such an awesome giveaway and for the chance for us all to reflect and be thankful. It’s difficult to pick one thing to be thankful for so I’m going to go with one word that describes so much…..Simplicity….I am thankful for the simple, every day things that bless my life. Hugs from my boys, cuddling with my cat, a phone call from my mom, and most recently the paleo lifestyle…nothing like fresh, creamy paleo mayo I’ve made myself. Thanks again, Melissa for the cookbooks and your website. Xoxo
I’m thankful for the military and the adventure of a life it allows us to lead!
I am grateful for my family and friends, for the love and support I receive for all my “crazy” ideas, and for my new lifestyle of paleo and crossfit. 🙂
I’m grateful that through daily exercise and following a paleo diet, I’ve lost 50 pounds in the last year and have significantly improved my lab results. I’m grateful for my family who appreciate my paleo cooking, for Well Fed and Well Fed 2 cookbooks, and that I have a truly wonderful life.
An amazing husband, beautiful kids, new baby in the family, wonderful family and great friends…new & old. So much to be grateful for!
I’m grateful for the sense of community that I have newly discovered during this past year.
I am grateful for a new start every day. Making changes can sometimes be difficult and I sometimes backslide. Knowing that each day is a fresh start helps me stick to my path.
I’m grateful for a supportive husband who, even though he hates veggies, helps me cook paleo dinner every night with rarely a complaint (he does insist that no matter what I call it, cauliflower is still cauliflower). A supportive spouse and family makes all the difference in this lifestyle
I am grateful for my amazing mother who is always supportive of me, and although she doesn’t eat paleo goes out of her way to make sure I have plenty to eat when I am around. I almost overeat when I am at her house! Thanks Mom, for everything you do for me!
I am grateful for finding the paleo lifestyle and crossfit. In the past 3 months I’ve made changes to my body I didn’t think possible. I am stronger, leaner and more comfortable in my own skin. But the best is I’ve been able to take my health back into my own hands. I’ve been able to get off my diabetes medicine. My numbers are perfect and my blood work is proof that this way of eating can and will change your life! I am forever grateful for making the first step to regaining my life!
Today I am grateful for my mother and sister–they will be watching my son while I go back to teaching next week! YIKES! I am so grateful he will be with people who love love love him!
I am super grateful for my healthy, sweet, and adorable six-week old daughter!
I have such gratitude for my friends. They are my chosen family and I love them even more than bacon.
I’m grateful for a strong, healthy body; some quiet time to prepare yummy food; and especially for my hubby who supports me in all my crazy ventures.
I am grateful for parents who have put up with my diet changes and are starting to join me in the pursuit of health.
I feel grateful for each new day I have and all the wonderful people in my life who support me in my recovery and healing.
I am grateful that I found Paleo, and thru additional reading, found your site. I have learned so much in the last 2 years, regarding food and how much it affects my body. While I am still a work in progress, I am grateful that sites like yours are here to remind me just why this way of eating is so much better for me. Oh, and your recipes rock!
I’m grateful for my family and being able to feed them healthy food.
Love both of your books 🙂
Right now I am grateful that the challenges in my life thus far have taught me to appreciate what I have and especially who I have in my life. I’m fortunate to be blessed with the love and friendship of amazing, kind, compassionate people who support me and my choices.

I’m grateful that even though we don’t have thanksgiving in Europe, I still get to make cranberry turkey meatballs and mashed sweet potatoes for dinner ^_^
(and garlicky greens… that Melicious sure earned her nickname! :o)
I am grateful for the past year, which has led to wonderful changes in my life physically, mentally, and emotionally. I am grateful for my supportive boyfriend who is willing to grill, sautee, or bake any recipe I throw his way and is patient enough to teach me and give me pointers along the way, too. I am grateful for my sister who introduced me to paleo eating in the first place and endured my criticism and snarky remarks before I took the plunge, too. I am also grateful for my mother who has been researching paleo Thanksgiving recipes, so my sister and I feel comfortable indulging during the holidays. Because of supportive people like them and delicious recipes (like my favorites in WF and WF2), I am happier and healthier than I have ever been and my entire well-being has benefitted as a result.
I feel grateful for having a job. Parts of it I don’t like, but my best friend just lost hers. Perspective is everything.
I feel grateful for my husband’s health. 2 years ago he was miserable-and a few weeks out from having spinal fusion surgery.
I feel grateful for my son’s health. 2 1/2 years without a seizure.
I feel grateful for my health, too. I’ ve lost some weight.. a lot more to go, but at least I haven’t yo-yo’d back up.
What a great contest!
First and foremost, I am grateful for my health and the health of my little family. I will forever be grateful to my husband for supporting me in staying home with your son.
I’m grateful that I didn’t die 2 and a half years ago when I got septicaemia from undiagnosed gallstones blocking my Common Bile Duct. Since then I’ve turned my life around – lost 4 stones, got into the best shape of my life, eat clean & qualified as a PT. Best of all I’ve become part of a great local fitness community through which I’ve found new friends and a way to involve my husband and children in this new side of my life. So many plans to make happen and adventures to have – I am truly blessed.
Thankful for life, family & friends. And chocolate.
I am most grateful for the few days I had with my mom before she passed away. They will forever be the most meaningful days of my life. Within them came the gift of realizing what really matters in life. Truly grateful.

My boyfriend who is my forever cheerleader and trainer and best partner I could ask for. For my parents who are endlessly supportive and let me pursue my dreams/whims. And for my brother and cute puppy- for adding humor and furriness to my life.

I am grateful that I found the Whole30. That was a spring board to educate myself about food and my body. I am so very grateful that I have been learning this before I become a mother. My children will be fed & taught differently. I am grateful that my husband is supportive and encouraging!
I am tremendously thankful that I can still do all that is necessary to show my son what is good about life!
I’m grateful that my husband and I live in a wonderful environment where farmers’ markets are abundant, the weather is beautiful most of the year, he’s able to work from home doing what he loves, and I can keep us on track regarding our health and other aspects of our lives. We feel very fortunate and never want to take it for granted or forget where we came from.
I am grateful for my family- the nephews, siblings, parents and aunts and uncles that I won’t be able to see this Thanksgiving. They will be with me in spirit this year. Also, I am grateful to have a body that works so hard to keep up with me and that although not “perfect” is amazing.
I’m grateful for Jenny Craig not sitting well in my system and leading me to find the paleo lifestyle and CrossFit almost 3 years ago! Both have changed my life! BTW, lots of changes at CFA these days. 🙂
I’m thankful for finally getting a pediatrician (integrative med) that acknowledges and treat my daughters neurological speech disorder, childhood apraxia of speech. He’s also helped us go gluten and dairy free due to discovering our intolerances. It’s amazing how much better we feel.

I’m grateful for having good friends and being in good health!
I’m greatful did freinds and family who go out of their way to make sure I can eat well! And doubly greatful for tonight’s Friendsgiving!
Today in particular I’m very grateful for the unconditional love of my closest friends, without which I can’t imagine life.
Like many comments before me, I am so grateful to have found Paleo/Primal/Whole 30. What started as an effort to lose weight has turned into a way of taking care of myself that has created an abundance of other healthy changes. For the first time in my entire life I put myself first. This way of eating has not only changed the way I eat but it has completely changed the way I see myself. I see myself as a more confident, autonomous, balanced and strong woman. My goals are less about losing weight, now. They’re more about treating myself the way I would treat my most loved friends. That’s because this “diet” taught me how to make friends with myself.
I am so grateful for your recipes! And for learning that when I eat Paleo, I feel so much better — more energy, better sleep, clearer skin, and fewer migraines. Thanks so much for your inspiration and instruction, Melissa!!
I’m grateful for an amazing family, a roof over my head and at this very moment a warm dog cuddling with me.

I am grateful that we don’t just get one shot at health. There is always the hope of another day filled with good choices.

I am grateful that I learned about the paleo lifestyle, and that I have the knowledge to make the right decisions to keep myself and my family healthy, happy and enjoying life!

I am thankful for all the great recipes in Well Fed and Well Fed 2 that make eating paleo so delicious!
I am grateful to you Melissa for explaining the process of precooking for the week – no one ever broke it down like that before. I started eating Paleo last May and am grateful for how great I feel (and look) but I was starting to falter because I never really cooked before ( I just microwaved). I got Well Fed 1 and 2 and my first issue of the Paleo magazine two weeks ago on a shopping trip to Montana ( I am from Edmonton). I am grateful to all the Paleo people out there who willingly share their knowledge and encouragement. Thank you all

I am thankful for my family and friends and that we have our health!

I am grateful for taking a chance on MYSELF and thinking I am good enough to make the change to switch to a whole 9, well fed kind of life. Even if I don’t win anything, I just wanted to say thanks, for Well Fed and Well Fed 2. ~D.
I am grateful for freedom, a job, health and family. Happy Thanksgiving.
I’m grateful for the folks who can compile such useful information into life-altering instruction manuals; such as Dallas & Melissa with “It Starts With Food”, which led me to “Melicious” and being “Well Fed” & “Well Fed 2”. (also grateful for amazon pre-order which allowed me to buy WF2 the instant I first heard about it!)
Gosh, how can I even narrow my gratitude list down enough to fit in this box? I finally nailed down the job of my dreams after years of “thanks, but no thanks” responses to my job search efforts. I have the health and energy to meet the demands of said dream job. I have an awesome husband. I have a warm, cozy roof over my head and a purring cat in my lap. I’m grateful for this life.
I’m grateful for all the wonderful paleo blogs out there, helping me to eat heathfully! Have a great holiday!
Grateful I have a family
I am grateful for my family – my parents and my brother and niece. I’m also grateful that my grandmothers still have their health and that my own health is improving daily – yes, thanks in part to a transition to paleo!
I’m grateful for my good health and wonderful family. I’m also thankful that eating Paleo has changed the way I view food and weight loss. I’m no longer obsessed with eating low fat all the time. I just eat real food.
I’m just so grateful for my health, my husband and my children. Without those three I would have nothing. I can get by without a house, car, job etc. It’s my body and how it gets me through these days. My husband who’s support is unwavering. Congratulations! I’m grateful for so many things, but this week, I’m grateful for a new ability I’m practicing: letting go of anger quickly by repeating the following mantra: “The first act of war is defense. Can you see the other person’s point of view?” It’s like pricking a balloon, and I feel my anger dissolve away. It doesn’t mean I don’t get angry, but it doesn’t last as long. Here’s to inner peace!
I’m new to paleo (starting week 4 tomorrow) and I’m grateful for a husband who cooperated with my need to purge the cupboards, fridge, and pantry instead of just attempting to pass over those items on a daily basis while preparing meals. I am grateful for the way my life turned around, for finding Paleo, for my kitties, for my barbell, and seriously, for finding Well Fed. At first it really intimidated me, but slowing I learned to go out of my comfort zone and try new things..and to trust in the recipes. It has completely changed my relationship with food and the kitchen. It is very rare that I cook a meal without WF or WF2 by my side.

I see so many terrible injuries, chronic illnesses and sad moments, that I am so very grateful that I am able to care for these people rather than have to be the one taken care of. I know that the way we eat plays so much of a role in our health, and I see the effects of chronic inflammation in the body every shift., so I am also grateful for learning about paleo eating, and yours was the first website I found.

We have the relationship now that I always hoped we would, and secretly feared we might never find again. And I’m eternally grateful for good friends….the ones who are really more like family. 🙂

I AM GRATEFUL THAT I HAVE THE LOVE OF MY FAMILY.
Each year I grow more and more grateful for my dearest friends, for our health, and the for opportunities we have had–to grow and to learn from our previous mistakes.
In the past, my friends and I suffered from what’s easily labelled as “addiction,” but which, to us, feels like so much more. Personally, I lost many friends as a result of my poor decisions and reckless behavior; I can say that my oldest and dearest friends experienced this, as well.
What I am most grateful for is that we have one another, that we have each dedicated ourselves to living a paleo lifestyle and to empowering ourselves both physically and mentally, and that together we did what we never thought we had the power to do in our weakest moments: to rebuild.
I am grateful for the fact that I have finally found a lifestyle that has been enriching and healing my mind and body. Since finding out about the Paleo lifestyle, I have become free of the fear of the unknown, of the frustrations in not having clear answers to my body’s ailments. I am also very thankful for the generosity of the Paleo Community with knowledgeable and down-to-earth bloggers who have mentored me along the way! 🙂

This year has been a rough one; my grandmother passed and my 4 month old nephew passed as well. Through these tragedies’ our family pulled through and together we have learned how valuable life is and how quickly our life and the lives of others can be taken. We have only one body and we strive each day to keep it strong and healthy; both mind and body. I’m grateful for my family for its strength and courage.

My health is a priority and I am grateful to be able to take my health in my own hands and continue on that journey to repairing my health one step at a time.

Lately I have been grateful for hugs from little ones with sticky fingers, deep belly laughs shared between sisters, and a husband who won’t give up even when things seem impossible.
I am grateful for being here and making the changes that I needed to make this year. It’s been a crazy year for me! It started by making the choice to eat better. One day, I saw who I had become and did not recognize myself. I started researching food and was introduced to the paleo way of eating. Since January, I lost more than 40 pounds. I don’t weigh myself really because I do not want to get discouraged. All I know is that I used to be an XL (tight) and now I wear a medium to small size. I still have work to do but I am grateful to have made the time and effort for myself with this investment. I am also grateful for the many years that my cat gave me, I said goodbye to her this year, and will forever remember her.
I am thankful that my daughter is healing well from surgery. I am thankful for my grandsons laughter. I am thankful that my son who is in the army, will able to get home this year for Christmas. I am thankful for my amazingly patient and supportive partner. There are so many things I am thankful for, but these are in my top 10 right now.
I am grateful that ditching grains and sugar has helped me have a strong and healthy pregnancy and I am on a good track to pop out my little paleo nugget in January. I am also grateful for your silky gingered zucchini soup because it has helped me get through many mornings and many days when I wasn’t up to eating much else.
I am grateful for my family who support me no matter what.
I’m grateful for Amazon to deliver my Well Fed 2 to Colombia and today for FINALLY finding sweet potatoes in this country! 🙂
I am truly grateful to be able to call Alaska my home. I have made the most meaningful relationships here and am still struck with such a sense of wonder when I look out on the mountains. I feel so grateful to have found where I belong.
I am thankful for finding a new and flavorful way to better health through paleo. W30, and your amazing recipes. Thank you!

I am most greatful for my husband. 4 1/2 years ago, I was awarded the opportunity to become a stay-at-home mom. Before they started school, I thoroughly enjoyed being home with my 2 boys every day. Now that they are in school, I love being able to volunteer in their school several days a week and be there when they may need me. My husband works his butt off every single day in order to allow me to do that. Thank you Ron for letting me be what I most love.
I am grateful for my family, our health, and new found Paleo diet and CF – which led to a new and better lifestyle for all of us.
I am grateful for the ability to live life the way that I choose and to have such a supportive husband who enjoys trying new things with me.

I grateful for the opportunity to birth a baby in a few short weeks and to be able to share with her that her food should revive and sustain her not poison and control her. I learned it late, but can’t turn back now!

I am also so thankful for Well Fed 1 & 2 because those books have helped me so much. They help with cooking skills, wonderful recipes and organizational skills. Makes Paleo so much easier!
I just spent the most wonderful day in celebration of my new baby nephew, watched my 5 year old daughter sing her first solo, ate a fantastic meal with my parents, my husband and kids, and all of my siblings and their families, and found out a new niece or nephew is on the way. How could I possibly not feel grateful?! I am so blessed!!
I am grateful for finding paleo and becoming the inspiration to my co workers in the fire department. Not only have I lost 40+ lbs but my fellow firefighters have lost hundreds of pounds as well. Making all of us healthier and better role models for the community in which we serve.

After a pretty nasty health scare a few months back, I’m incredibly grateful for the community of family and friends who have provided an amazing amount of support. Visits, phone calls, good (paleo) food, and much, much more. I love to give (food, small gifts, laughs) and it was certainly a lesson in receiving and being grateful.

I am thankful for my family and my health. I have the Paleo way of eat to thank for my health. Cooking all of our food has brought us closer and we all spend more time together.

I’m thankful that my mother is traveling 3000+ miles to visit me and that she’s (finally) giving clean eating a whirl and doing fabulous!
Since it’s still Sunday in texas here, maybe it isn’t too late!
I am grateful that paleo has given me my life back. I found out the same month that I had narcolepsy (an autoimmune disease) the same month my mom found out her cancer was terminal. I was 24. Two years later, she’s passed away, and I find myself well. It is such a surprising and amazing thing, to be living. Not only that, I met my now husband while she was in hospice, and he does paleo and cross fit too! Your book Well Fed made a really terrible transition period in my life manageable, live able, and tasty. Thank you so much for that 🙂

I’m grateful to Dallas and Melissa for the whole30 and It Starts With Food. I’m grateful for your books and blog and the way that you share your stories with us, which puts such a human face on something/someone extraordinary. I’m grateful for the huge contribution you make on a regular basis to my well-being, and for the joy that I feel again in the kitchen, after such a long dry spell. I’m grateful for my wonderful family and boyfriend who have supported and helped me through all of my worsening chronic illnesses and I’m very thankful for what little health I do have left.

I’m grateful for family and friends.
I am eternally grateful for my ECZEMA. Without it, I never would have realised there was something horribly wrong with my body, and I would’ve grown into a sick, sad, probably infertile woman. I’m grateful for the fact that it gives me a reason to drink a mug of delicious broth every day too!! 🙂
I am thankful for a husband who supports my crazy antics when it comes to thr food that is in our house. He is not quite Paleo, but is so supportive and willing to try anything to help us achieve greater health.
This new way of eating (introduced to me by this very blog and Well Fed, the original) is what has me feeling grateful right now! Thank you for the message you spread!!

I am grateful for the tree/web of life and how one occurrence leads us down different paths..the birth of my beautiful healthy grandson, which led to my daughter wanting her pre pregnancy body back, which introduced me to clean eating and brought me out of a severe depression brought on by major back surgery during a menopausal phase of my life. I’m grateful for how one occurrence can change a path of life.
I’m grateful for my five babies: my 6 yo, 4 yo, 2 yo, and 3 month old. Oh and my 33 yo hubbie! 🙂

I Am Grateful For My Husband & Son
Right now I am thankful for the love of friends and family that transcends the miles between us. I just moved to Hawaii and am miles away from my home and loved ones, but they know just the right words to text, email or say over the phone or Skype to make me feel supported and cheered on!
Thanks for the giveaway, Mel. You’re great!

I’m most grateful for health and for my loving and supportive family. Thanks Mel for this awesome giveaway!!
What I’m most greatful for are my two daughters (ages 4 yrs and 10 mths). They are my blessing – so sweet, kind and intelligent. My two jewels Katerina and Alessandra!
I am grateful for the amazing relationship I have with my mother. At 82, she’s still the strongest, most amazing person I know, as well as my best friend. Even though we don’t always live on the same continent, we manage to communicate every day, mostly thanks to computers and smart phones. She has embraced new technologies with teenage-like enthusiasm and continues to be intellectually curious as ever. We love talking about health, well-being, and clean eating, exchanging recipes, sending each other interesting articles, web sites, and photographs of our latest culinary creations. Although she’s not even close to eating 100% paleo, since I made the switch over 1 year ago, she has greatly reduced her intake of dairy, grains, and sugars, while increasing her consumption of fresh organic veggies and fruits, and feels positively better for it. I am grateful to live in this digital age, which allows me to connect with my family half a world away and with the amazing paleo community of trainers, athletes, and foodies who freely and generously share their knowledge and experience with the rest of the world.
Thankful for my family, friends and good health!
I am grateful for my family, friends, and my health. Happy Thanksgiving Week!!
I’m grateful for my amazing body! There are things I’m still working on, but for over 30 years I neglected my health, and even after all that time I can still make changes for the better.
Iam thankful for my amazing ability to heal. I am thankful that our health is there for us and the simply things DIET and exercise will for the most part get us there. I am thankful for like minded people how create recipes etc that make life easier

I’m grateful for my husband, family and friends and for my health!
I am thankful for my wonderful famiy.
Today I am grateful for a feeling of well being and gratitude. I choose to commit random acts of kindness at a time that seems to bring the worst out in people.
I am grateful to nature for providing me with what I need to live. What an amazing opportunity!
I’m thankful for family. Especially around the holidays.
I am grateful for this amazing machine (the human body) that I have been given. Although it sometimes breaks down, it always gets back up again. I am grateful that I have been learning how to treat it with respect and love it. It allows me to run, jump, and play. To hug, cry and laugh.
I am so thankful for the random Tuesday that I was searching google and came across the Paleo lifestyle. I live in a small town in the country and had never heard of anything like this before. It has changed my life (and my family’s lives) in unexpected ways. We have become a much more healthy, active family and I only wish we had found Paleo sooner.
I’m grateful for finding paleo and being healthy
I am grateful for the warmth inside my homepsace despite the chill and wind outside.
I am grateful for the fact that my new husband is not freaked out by how much I love and think about Christmas! 🙂
I am grateful that I am on Day 30 of my Whole 30 Challenge!
I am grateful for my family’s willingness to eat whatever I cook! I know they’re healthy.
I am grateful for my wonderful husband, the dog we ‘adopted’ this year (even though he is going through an annoying phase right now) and finding Paleo 2 yrs ago. I was 210 lbs at 5’2″ and suffering constant anxiety and panic attacks. I have lost 70lbs and am anxiety free.
Thankfully that anxiety and panic were banished before the tragedies my family suffered earlier this year- the loss of my little brother and my mother’s fiance in horrible accidents. I mourn their loss but I would have been mentally and physically devastated if I still suffered from anxiety.
I’m grateful that I have found a community of like-minded people who have taught me how to find answers, believe in myself and most importantly, how to cook. I was a mess before paleo and everyday I take another small step toward becoming less of a mess and more healthful. But I’m especially grateful that some paleo folks are coming out and admitting their struggles, including your own, Melissa. By showing us the human side of the trials of trying to deal
with complex health issues that are made significantly better by the food we eat but that aren’t as easily solved as we had all originally hoped, it keeps it real for the rest of us. I would be in bad shape today if it weren’t for the paleo changes I started a year ago but I also suffer from some health challenges that may require medication and thus it has been a real breathe of fresh air to see you courageously share the struggles you have had that have gone beyond the great food.
i’m grateful for a roof over our head and that we do not have to worry with where our next meal is coming from. we are so blessed!
I am most grateful for my husband of 20 years. He is my best friend.
I am grateful for the perspective that time brings to every situation.
I feel grateful for being able to wipe my slate and start fresh! Broke up with my long term boyfriend, new apartment, new car, new job, and feeling great!
New job, new place, new life. I feel grateful to be healthy and to find good friends that share the same values in a community that’s at the opposite side of the country.
I am grateful to be healthy and happy. Finding Paleo and CrossFit has been the best ‘life booster’ and has helped me cope with some not as awesome things. (Also super grateful for my wonderful friends + family.. thats a given!)
I am grateful for the support of my husband as I venture into the world of paleo blogging.
I am so thankful right now for my health and being whole. I was in a bad car accident week ago that totaled my car (the other guy’s fault) and I walked away with only a few minor injuries. What could have killed me barely even left a mark on me. I couldn’t be more grateful for being here and well today.
I am grateful everyday for my son and getting to see his smiles every day.
I am grateful for a new way of eating that makes me feel so much better-40 pounds lighter-and at least 20 years younger. I have both your books and LOVE them!!
I’m grateful to have discovered Paleo eating this year. I have NEVER felt this good in my entire life. I’m a better wife and mother, I have more energy to accomplish everything I need to, and I have a relationship with food that allows me to genuinely rejoice in it, rather than feeling guilty. Thanks for helping me on the journey!
I’m thankful that I’ve finally learned to cook – not because I had to, but because I wanted to. Thanks for your inspiration!
I’m grateful for my boyfriend, who fully supports this way of eating, and actually for my job, which in a different way also supports it 🙂
Thankful for amazing coaches who help me achieve my goals!
I am thankful or my sweet husband and wonderful son, a warm and happy home, great friends, good health, and my paleo cookbook collection that keeps my husband and I well fed and happy…..
I am so gratefull to learn and know good food verses bad processed food. Thank you for the recipes my family is eating more Veggies and fruit. And delious meets.
I’m grateful that my mom got on board with paleo – and also my brother and his family. I’m grateful that I know real food tastes better! The well fed cookbook was a life saver to me in the first months but especially later on when things got busy and more difficult and I was being complacent – well fed got me back on track !
I am grateful to have found this paleo diet, it has truly changed me and my whole family’s perspective on what it is to be healthy. This will be a generation of kids that make mindful health decisions! Thank you for writing such a helpful book to get us through this journey:)
I’m am thankful for so much… where to begin. Well, I’m thankful for my amazing family and friends. I’m thankful that I’ve ended up in this little town in the mountains, and my awesome group of crossfitters I get to workout with everyday. But keeping with the theme here… I am so grateful to have found this clean way of eating. It has totally changed my life, as I’m sure it has for everyone else that has decided to eat this way. It’s the only time I’ve ever stuck with something this long (2years) with no end in sight. I feel amazing… and it makes it possible for me to appreciate and enjoy all the other things that I’m thankful for… like my beautiful family 🙂 Thank you for the awesome giveaway.. I have both of your books and LOVE them. SO I guess I’m thankful for those too 😉 Most of my thanksgiving dishes will come out of them (definitely some velvety butternut squash… that’s a new tradition started last year) Happy Thanksgiving!
I am grateful that my parents get to come to my house for Thanksgiving and I get to cook them all sorts of yummy Paleo dishes!
I am grateful for my new job these last 6 months that has allowed me to spend more time with my family.
I am grateful for my wonderfully kind, generous, and supportive husband, who encouraged me to go back to school, and is willing to survive living solo next summer, so that I can go to Mongolia to do fieldwork and research.
Strange as it sounds, I am grateful to have just been diagnosed with SIBO. It feels great to have an answer to WHY Paleo hasn’t been enough to restore my health. I am, of course, also grateful to my family – my husband and kids and their health and enthusiasm for life. They help me get out of bed every day 😀
I am grateful for my back surgery which has given me my life back. I am also grateful for my wonderful, supportive, amazing husband who shows me what true love is every day.
I am grateful for my health and the health of my family and friends
I am thankful for my family and finding the Paleo lifestyle this year. I feel better and have lost weight and begun to exercise regularly.
I am also thankful for my new granddaughter whose due date is today. Praying for a safe delivery for my daughter and looking forward to all the joy the baby will bring to our family.
I’m thankful for finding your blog and your fantastic cookbooks to help me along this journey to get healthy. Without WellFed, I’m really not sure that I would have kept trying. Your genius and imagination has empowered me to cook food that nourishes my body and soul and tastes amazing!
I am so grateful for both my sister and my partner. My sister is my best friend and fellow warrior! She’s always there for me and we love sharing stories and adventures. I’m also thankful for my partner – he’s incredibly supportive, our relationship feels so strong. I’m also grateful for spell check, because otherwise I’d look like a total moron 80% of the time.
I am grateful for my own health, and for my husband who is going on seven months post-diagnosis of metastatic cancer. The fight is not done, but he continues to persevere.
I am grateful for what I have learned about nutrition in the past few years, especially the last 6 months. I still make mistakes, but at least I know better how to correct them.
I am grateful for new foods to love – coconut milk in my coffee, sunbutter, homemade mayo.
I am grateful that I have family members that have joined my journey and that they are seeing success as well.
I am grateful for you, Melissa! Your recipes got me through my first two Whole30s and helped me see that it was possible to eat the best food of my life and that also helped improve my health.
I am thankful for finding this lifestyle and being able to fulfill my mother’s death bed wish of me losing weight and being more healthy so I can live a longer healthier life than she did for me and my family. She passed away from pancreatic cancer at a young age of 64.
I am grateful for friends and family who support me in whatever I choose to do and however I choose to eat. I am grateful for the loving/silly/awesome community of people I have found on the journey so far!
Thank you for all you do!!
Every day, I am grateful for my family, friends, and loving boyfriend, but this holiday season especially. After laying fairly dormant my entire young adulthood, my Hashimoto’s flared up a few months ago. Without the support of my mother and boyfriend (and of course the many blogs, books, and the massive online community dedicated to paleo/autoimmune paleo), I don’t think I could have dealt with the emotional and physical stress on my own.
I am grateful for the ability to change my life through food and my continually improving health. I am grateful for every good day, and even for every bad day for those days often teach us valuable lessons.
Last but certainly not least, I am grateful for all of life’s little pleasures: “winter” weather in Florida, puppies, lazy days watching Netflix, coconut butter (for keeping me sane), among many other things!
I am so grateful to have supportive, non-judgmental, loving friends and family in my life. And also, that my wife and I will someday be recognized as legal partners across the US.
Grateful for family, friends, contentment and HEALTH!
I am grateful for science and health research, that has enable me to live a relatively normal life despite having type 1 diabetes. There is still no cure, and we need one, but things are far better now than they once were.
I am grateful for other people’s talents and that they share their gifts. Melissa’s joy in cooking brings great food to our family table. The melodies of many great musicians fill my soul and moves my feet. The strong, disciplined guide at the Yoga Room leads me on a spiritual journey. These are just a few of the many talents of others that I am so very thankful for.
I’m grateful for my family and friends as well as finding the Paleo lifestyle. I’ve never felt better =)
What makes me grateful right now is the fact that I have my health. After nearly three years battling Menieres disease, it eventually brought me to the paleo lifestyle, and in turn, has helped me with other problems that I didn’t even realize were food related.
So grateful for family and friends – and for all the great recipes you’ve provided. My family and friends are happily eating our way through Well Fed and Well Fed 2.
I’m grateful for all the Paleo bloggers (like you!) who keep me enlightened and entertained and moving forward on my Paleo path.
I am grateful for my family and friends.
I am grateful for my extended family. This weekend we celebrated my dad’s 60th birthday party with a huge bash at my parents home and invited family and friends. The following day I drove my grandparents home (4 hour drive in the rain) – and it was the longest amount of uninterrupted time I have had with them in ages. It was wonderful – hearing old stories and laughing.
So very thankful for the Paleo community that is helping my family become healthy.
I’m so thankful for discovering Paleo and the whole30. It was your site Melissa that cued me in to even try it. Thank you. Never knew it was so simple to feel so good.
I am grateful for my amazing husband and our two sweet and beautiful dogs. And I am also grateful for your entertaining and educational blog and your cookbooks, the first of which helped me learn how to cook and provided a guide for the weekly food prep that helps us stay on the Paleo path.
I am thankful for having access to so many resources that allow me and my family to put our health first. Thank you for being number one on our go to list for wonderful, nourishing food!
I am thankful for ….,god giving me another day..another breath..to spend time with my family, friends, CrossFit 406 family, to be able to choose to be healthy by exercising & making good food choices & being in the land of the free & home of the brave
I am thankful for my family and my health.
Forever grateful to have been introduced to you by the Balanced Bites Podcast! Grateful I had your Moroccan Meatball recipe to serve my Mother in Law and she LOVED it, BOOM! So grateful that at age 42, I am just now understanding that I can take control of my health and diet, surround myself with mentors and friends that are uplifting, and prepare the best, nutrient dense food available to me. May you have a joyful Holiday full of love and cheer!
I am grateful for Well Fed (one) and thankful to hear there is now a Well Fed 2 available. I will be buying Well Fed 2 for my awesome husband who loves to cook Paleo for me and appreciates good cookbooks! Now off to Amazon to order my copy!
I am thankful for all my friends and family who are supporting my husband while he’s deployed. It’s great that they ask me to dinner and what not, but it’s even more meaningful when HE gets the support over there.
PS Love WF2!
I’m grateful for all the meatball recipes in Well Fed 1. Yum!!!
I am SO grateful I changed my life this year by hiring a personal training, lifting weights, going Paleo, losing 44 lbs (so far), feeling GREAT, and discovering It’s All About Food, Nom Nom Paleo, and Melissa and her Well Fed cookbooks. The cookbooks have pushed me to try things I never had before, and the “hot dish” ideas with ground meat and vegies have saved my life many days!
Grateful for good health, being able to cook good food, finishing one whole30 this fall (and planning another!) and an upcoming friends/stranglers Thanksgiving celebration! Most of my friends and I are in the healthcare field so getting together on holidays doesn’t happen but early celebrations are where it’s at!
Oh, and chocolate chili. Really grateful for chocolate chili.
I am grateful for this life and the family and friends that surround me!!
I’m grateful for a supportive network of friends and family that accept me for who I am and enable me to pursue my goals. Oh, and my dog, because really puppy snuggles in the winter = the best.
So grateful for my body’s ability to enable me to do the things I love (yoga, gym, climbing, riding my bike)…
All of the blessings like family and our jobs, but especially my husband and soul mate!
No matter how cliché – I’m grateful for my kids. I have the best ones.
I’m also grateful for the resources that are available these days for those of us that have to, or choose to eat differently from the majority of people. Thank YOU!
I am grateful to be living back in my hometown after almost seven years of living in other cities. There is nothing quite like popping over at your oldest friend’s house wearing no make up and slouchy jeans just to sit on her couch and hang out. 🙂
I am grateful that my family and I have still have a roof over our head and we have all been relatively healthy.
I’m grateful for my strong and supportive family. I’m grateful that I have a job and a roof over my head.
I am grateful to have survived three close brushes with death (eating disorder followed by car accident), to have been blessed with an amazingly supportive family, to have all my five senses, and to be on this amazing journey back to health via Paleo lifestyle!
I’m grateful for Melissa for giving me awesome recipes with a dose of sassy that makes me laugh.
Thankful I found Paleo and the loving support of my wife and kids your recipes are great, keep up the good work.
I am grateful for friends and family who tried Whole30 before me and helped me find a healthier, happier, more well fed version of myself. And, I am grateful for a husband who helps me buy quality ingredients, welcomes new foods on his plate, and does most of the dishes! I am grateful for love and opportunity.
I am grateful to have found a way to be fit, healthy and have fun while exercising. Grateful to my friends who introduced me to Paleo and other form of exercises.
the thought that my wife is almost done with nursing school
I’m grateful that after 9 weeks of being nauseated constantly, I think the morning (which is really all day) sickness is going away!
I am so grateful to have such a great support system. I am blessed to be able to pursue my fitness goals with the help of my parents while I am presently unemployed. Between my family and friends, I couldn’t ask for anything more in my life.
I am grateful to have such a wonderful guy in my life who loves me for who I am!
I’m grateful for healthy kids and financial stability.
Above all, I am thankful for God and my family. I am also thankful that we have the choice and ability to feed our family healthy meals.
A roof over my head.
I’m so greatful to have my daughter and so very happy she loves to cook and try new recipes. So greatful for our health as well.
It probably sounds cheesy, but I am grateful for the paleo online community for helping me adjust from high carb low-fat brainwashing. I am thankful that the paleo diet is really helping me-heal from SIBO. I am grateful to finally understand why I have been feeling unwell for so long. I am thankful to be able to enjoy my husband, 5 year old child, and my parents (who recently joined me in Texas).
I’m grateful for my health, for loving family, for friends and for friends who are like family!
I am grateful for my wonderful family (especially my son and boyfriend) who give me a reason to get up each day and try my best; grateful to CrossFit for challenging me to do things I didn’t know I was capable of; grateful to Paleo eating which makes me feel my best (although I still have a problem falling off the wagon with sugar)…which makes me grateful for each new day to start anew and continue with my goals of healthy living. I’m also grateful for Silky Gingered Zucchini Soup. Think I’ve eaten it every day for a week.
I’m grateful for my boyfriend. He was the one that pushed me towards the paleo path. He’s incredibly supportive of anything I do. I am very lucky to have him in my life.
I am grateful for my loved ones and that every day is full of opportunities to make healthy choices.
I’m grateful my kids can make their own lunch because I’ve been too sick to cook for them. LOL
I am grateful that my husband gets to be home with me and our puppies for Thanksgiving. He is in the army and has been out training but gets Thanksgiving off. Yay!
I am overwhelmingly grateful for all of the hip foodies who have made ‘traditional foods’ cool once again. I am beyond grateful to have access to food as medicine at the tip of my fingertips daily. I need to be WELL FED now more than ever. A Paleo Diet is playing a key role in helping my body to recover from both Thyroid Disease and Lyme Disease. My gratitude is honestly beyond the words that I can type into this little box.
Melissa is truly helping me to save my own life.
XOXOXOXO.
PS – Pina Colada Chicken is my families new favorite, ever!
I am thankful for my family and my health.
I am extremely grateful for my good health in the past year! I worked hard last November and have lost around 35 pounds thanks to paleo and regular exercise. I feel ridiculous amounts of healthier and I am so grateful to be in this body!
I’m grateful for finding paleo and friends and family that support me in my endeavor to be healthy! And of course for your site and many others!
I am grateful for the wonderful and supportive paleo community that is out there! And grateful for my friends and family that support the way I choose to eat even if they are not willing to try paleo!
I am grateful for the Paleo community. Such a supportive group of people and always willing to help answer a question or two without judging. I am especially grateful for my local farmers who raise grass-fed cows and who keep it affordable to eat clean!!
I’m thankful for my health, my friends, and great websites like yours which make eating right so much easier!
I am grateful for the healthy body and mind that God has afforded me so that I can be there for and spend quality time with my wife and two little girls!
I’m grateful for HEAT! And a three day work week! 🙂
I am thankful for our amazing nanny who is an amazing paleo cook!
I’m so grateful for the loved ones in my life this year. I’ve never felt more loved and accepted than I do this year and I could shout it from the rooftops!
When I see other people who are unhealthy or injured, it makes me immensely grateful for my health! It truly is everything!
I am thankful for my Whole30 support group that I started last year! They have kept up their healthy living and still have indulged on the important things in life, like mom’s cranberry ice on Thanksgiving!
I’m grateful for my amazing family and friends. And for generous giveaways like this! Fingers crossed!
I am grateful to be surrounded by supportive people while away from family in this strange land of California. 🙂
I am thankful for my husbands job. They recently laid off 75% of the company, but for now, he is still employed. I am blessed enough to be a sahm to our almost 2 year old daughter, and I know he is stressed with the thought that he could soon be unemployed, but the paycheck while we have it, is a blessing.
I’m grateful to my boss and his wife for introducing me to Whole30, which I completed and am now following a Paleo diet. I can’t see myself ever going back to old habits.
I am super grateful for a good friend who introduced me to the paleo lifestyle! I have never felt better and can’t imagine eating any other way. I am also super grateful for two teenage daughters who are openminded, willing to try new recipes with me, and are supportive. They are making these new changes easier and fun. 🙂
I am grateful everyday for my loving husband who works super hard to provide for our little family so that I am able to stay at home with our 7 month old son. I am so blessed 🙂
I am thankful for my beautiful daughter, my amazing fiancee, the fact that I am gainfully employed, my health and about a million other things!
I feel most grateful for a wonderful and healthy family.
I am grateful for the lovely people at dkb fitness in Santa Fe who introduced me to this lifestyle. I feel good!!!
I am so grateful for my body. I show it gratitude by fueling it the nourishment it needs: real food. It may be a struggle at times, but the outcome is better by far!
I am grateful for this lovely cold weather we are having. It’s just what this Pacific NW girl needed, a cold Austin Thanksgiving!
I am grateful that I am on day 22 of the 30 day challenge and I haven’t cheated. I’m hoping to continue my healthy eating throughout the holiday season.
I am grateful that I FINALLY have the knowledge, support and tools I need to stop letting my Hashimotos control my life.
I am thankful for my family and my health
I am grateful for health and my beautiful little boy
My gratefulness all comes back to my health. I was sick for about 15 years before finding out that I was a celiac. My husband stood by my side and helped me through all the tests that I had to endure with no answers. I now work with others to help them on the right track. I have a GFF (gluten free friend forever) that helps me through the rough days. I have become a SPIN instructor also with my husband’s guidance and motivation. I know I couldn’t have done this being so sick. Lastly, all the bloggers that put their lives out there to help us all become better and healthier people.
This year has brought me a lot to be thankful, but mostly the inner peace that I have with myself thanks to living Paleo. This lifestyle change has not only allowed me to stop obsessing over food and my body in a bad way, to being excited about food and celebrating all my body can do. This has made a difference in my familial and other relationships. I am grateful for all the help I’ve gotten including so many blogs and cook books as well as the every day blessings that have allowed me to overcome my battle.
I am grateful that I have discovered this way of living. I feel like I can provide sound, nutritionally balanced meals for myself and family. I have more energy, I feel stronger, and I have fallen in love with cooking again.
It’s been 1.5 years since my father passed away and I’m grateful that my mom is healthy and continuing to develop a sense of independence even though she misses him dearly. And I’m also thankful to be home this thanksgiving, get to cook a few awesome meals, Crossfit., and eat well :).
I am grateful for the health of my family; it has been a rough year.
I am thankful for so much: a husband who is the epitome of a good man, three healthy and sweet children, parents who I love, and a wonderful business.
I am grateful for God and family.
I’m thankful for my family, my beautiful wife and daughter. 🙂
I have just started my paleo journey and I’m so grateful to have Well Fed and Clothes Make the Girl as one of my guides!
In the spirit of this post, I’m grateful for finding the paleo lifestyle. I used to eat a low calorie, high processed diet and while I was very skinny, I was also very tired, moody and suffered horrible IBS symptoms. All of this has improved by changing my eating. It sometimes seems easier or more convenient to eat the old way, but then I remember how great I feel now. Thanks for the giveaway!
I am grateful for my health and the constant desire to live a healthy lifestyle.
I am grateful for the wonderful people I’m surrounded by in my new home! A year ago, I quite my job, broke up with my boyfriend and started an internship as a strength and conditioning coach (I was previously writing grants for a non-profit). I found myself in a new community that didn’t necessarily care bout healthy eating or sleep, it’s mostly play hard, drink hard, sleep little in this ski town. One year later, I’m surrounded by good friends who celebrate with delicious, healthy dinners with me, are always game to play in the mountains, and also know that it’s ok to hit the snooze button every once in awhile! Yay life and jumping into the fast lane!
I am so thankful for my health and continued health!
I’m thankful for being able to celebrate Thanksgiving at home this year while my brothers and sisters in arms are protecting us overseas. I’m also thankful for my wonderfully supportive and encouraging friends and family, without them I wouldn’t be where I am now. And most importantly I’m thankful for God’s grace and love, without those things I could never truly know joy.
I’m honestly grateful for all the work that independent people are doing in the field of nutrition. It’s greatly improved my life, and iIt’s helping to make a difference in the world.
I am thankful that my horrible habits for the past 26 years have not killed me… that I have my life, and valuable keys to health that I’ve learned in the past few months!!!
I am grateful for finding the Whole 30, for Well Fed 1 which is well loved and splattered with food, and for yoga which keeps me sane 🙂
I am thankful for my family. When my sweet baby girl was old enough for solid food I realized how important it is that she be introduced to nutritious foods. I did not want to raise a child who thinks that food comes from a box and must be sweetened. I am thankful that my baby now loves things like broccoli and beef liver! And she doesn’t like sweets!
I am grateful to have two healthy, adorable children that make me want to be the best, healthiest me I can be and my loving supportive husband who laughs at all my bad jokes
I am grateful for a mom who, at a young age, allowed me to expore culinary creativity. When I was younger this meant mixing anything she’d let me have in a bowl for my ‘pocky poo’. I only set a (accidental) fire once! As an adult, culinary creativity continues, and it has allowed me to incorpate Paleo/clean eating into my life and not feel like I am missing out, but in fact that I am living better and more healthfully than ever. I am grateful for a strong family foundation!
I’m grateful for recently discovering paleo, which I discovered through nerdfitness.com!
Having just come from Whole Foods and Sam’s Club, I am thankful that gluten-free and dairy-free are being produced for us even more. It is still expensive, but not compared to physicians, prescriptions and health insurance. I am grateful for God blessing me with the ability to understand how to eat real food.
I am greatful that my extended family is unexpectedly able to make it for Thanksgiving!
I’m thankful for my health, my job, and that I am in a much better place than I was 2 years ago. and for great paleo sites like this that have helped so much!
I am grateful for my family and my health.
I am so grateful that I discovered paleo and my children have embraced healthy eating.
Yes, they can be picky about some things still, HOWEVER, Saturday night, they were with their dad and went to eat at a certain kid’s pizza place/arcade and had crappy pizza. My youngest is dairy free and didn’t eat it, my oldest is 5 and had some. On Sunday, he got really sick and threw up, said his stomach hurt. We discussed what he ate and about how we eat healthy at home, so eating that probably made him sick. He said, “I know, we eat really healthy here.” He was invited to a birthday pizza party this coming weekend and worried about eating it and getting sick again.
He loves packing his lunch everyday and likes to brag about having the healthiest lunch in his class.
I’m so proud.
I’m grateful that on Thursday I’ll be spending the day at my parents’ house, with immediate and extended family, cooking, eating, and laughing together!
I am thankful for dedicated bloggers who make this lifestyle so much easier.
I am grateful to get my health under control. BP (before paleo) I was overweight, had high blood pressure, and breast cancer. Eating Paleo has changed my life.
I’m thankful that my thyroid seems to be healing itself after 90 days of whole30 eating. I’m lowering my medication for the first time ever. Hope my numbers continue to improve. And I hope I win! 🙂
I am thankful for being able to spend this Thanksgiving with my husband who has been deployed for the last two Thanksgivings and Christmases. He is an amazing man, whom I am so thankful that I get to spend my life with!
I am so grateful to the Whole9 who convinced me that It Does Start With Food; So many questions answered!
I am grateful for the Well Fed cookbooks that showed my new way of eating could be delicious! ❤️ Thank you.:)
I am Grateful For The Knowledge Given To Me About Healthy Whole Food And The Impact It Has Had On My Life
I’m thankful this year for my family who has been supporting me through the VERY slow and not so pleasant process of healing my autoimmune disease and leaky gut. Also very thankful that I’m finally, slowly but surely, healing my gut!!
I am grateful to have survived cancer twice – and now – at age 61 and mostly paleo-fied, to feel better than I ever have in my life! Also grateful for my husband, who is taking this journey with me and is a phenomonal cook! And my children, grandkids and parents – who at 89 and 94, are my role models for healthy aging!
I am continuously thankful for my family and the constant support of my my immediate and extended Paleo/Primal community.
You all make me better, thank you.
I’m grateful that I’m alive and, after a serious bout with depression that derailed me in my twenties, getting my life back on track.
I’m thankful for paleo and Whole 30 changing my life. It has really changed my perspective on what I’m putting into my body and I’ve never felt better.
I’m also thankful for all the turkey I’m going to eat in 3 days 🙂
I am grateful my doctor recommended “It Starts With Food” which led me to your cookbooks. I am grateful for restored health!
Hard to choose just one thing, but the common denominator of my “thankful” thoughts is Paleo. I have regained a sense of health that allows me to be here for my family. My father had a heart attack a few weeks ago and while my family (the ones not living in my home) have dismissed every opportunity I take to try and teach them about Paleo, I am not giving up on sharing with my family so that together we can heal dad’s heart.
The past few days I’ve found myself being grateful for my life in general. Is it always easy? Nope. Is it always fun? Nope. Am I 1000% (I did the math) more fortunate than oh, so many people? Oh my god, yes. I have enough money to make a choice about what food I eat. I sleep under a secure roof with enough heat (or cooling) every night. A job I like, where no one treats me like I’m lucky I have one… you get the idea. Also grateful that T-day is such a paleo-friendly holiday.
I am thankful that every day is chance to start over.
I am grateful for my family, whom I love so much. And I am grateful for my return to health.
I’m thankful for having my husband home. After having him in Afghanistan for seven months, it is nice to have him at home every night, something I used to take for granted!!
I am grateful that today is Day 30 of my Whole30 challenge, because I’ve learned a new way of approaching food. What a blessing! I’m 6 pounds lighter, have clearer skin… and beyond that I feel better with more consistent moods & energy throughout the day. I’m also grateful for Well Fed 2… plantain chips, African Stew, coconut cauliflower rice… these are some the recipes that got me through feeling great and mean that this is a lifestyle change for me, not just a diet.
I am grateful to the Universe for the joy, the wonder, and the loving guidance each and every day.
I am trying to completely embrace the Paleo lifestyle…hard to teach me new tricks. I started CrossFit at age 59 and was introduced to Paleo then. It has been 2 years & I am work in progress!
I am thankful I can be a stay at home mom, for a wonderful husband who provides, a beautiful daughter, supportive village, and a gracious Father.
I am grateful to have such amazing family and friends. I am also thankful that cookbooks like Well Fed have allowed me to introduce the amazing taste of real whole food to them. . even when they don’t realize it:)!
I am grateful for the job I have to go to every morning, no matter how tired I am before I go. And also for my amazing family that I cannot wait to visit for Thanksgiving!
Hm…what makes me grateful? A lot of things right now, actually! One of the things being that after a year and a half of being (mostly) paleo…my family is finally starting to accept my “crazy” eating habits and actually making some purely paleo dishes for thanksgiving!
I’m grateful for having so many things to be grateful for…. Supportive boyfriend, great job, good health! Life is extraordinary through the good and the bad!
I am so grateful for my health and for having a strong body that does everything I need it to do.
I’m grateful that even though it’s been the hardest last two years of our lives, I can live in Hawaii for now. A big thank you to the Army.
Is it wrong that the first thing that popped into my mind was that I am grateful for your Italian sausage seasoning mix and for the recipe for Czech meatballs? I’m also very grateful for my wonderful husband, a good job, and my health!
I’m grateful for my family. As a kid and teenager, I always hated my family. After growing up and coming to my senses this couldn’t be further from my current view. Especially these past few years as I’ve struggle to stay on my feet. I’ve realized that my mom and sister are there to help me up when I fall and have never let me hit the ground. More than that, they’re integral to my character and outlook on life. Can’t wait to spend my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, with these amazing people.
PS. Thanksgiving food is not why I love the holiday. It’s more that I love the reason for the celebration more than any other holiday.
I am grateful for my trainer who has introduced me to the benefits of eating Paleo and for being so supportive of my journey this year. Without his constant supporting and encouragement, I would not have been successful.
I am both grateful & blessed to have a community of people who have encouraged me with the changes I am committing myself to. I was directed to my trainer, Michelle, by my chiropractor. Michelle convinced me to try paleo and what a huge difference it has made. I also have an AMAZING husband (the chef in the family) who continues to surprise me by creating new recipes for me to try.
Lovin’ my life!!
I am grateful for my family, friends, and this awesome giveaway!
I’m grateful for my husband, family and friends who trust my word on how to live healthier, less stressed lives. That being said, I’m grateful for the founders of the modern Paleo movement that showed passion and courage towards spreading the good word. We wouldn’t be where we are (with this lifestyle) without you all!
I am grateful for my family, my extended family, my health, my community and my loving friends who hold me up throughout time. I am also incredibly honored to have a supportive partner who encourages me in all of my processes and life explorations. The universe has provided for me in an expansive and humbling capacity. Each day is a day of giving thanks!
I am grateful for my good health (better because of paleo) and my three sons.
I am grateful for my health. I rarely get sick and I have the energy for tough workouts. This wasn’t always the case, so it means more now than ever.
I’m grateful for family, friends and good health
I am grateful for tons of things but I am above and beyond grateful for my family – they keep me sane and grounded. Without their love, trust and guidance I wouldn’t be here today. I went through a very tough few years and I pulled through with only their love.
I am grateful for my beautiful family and all the love and zaniness we share. We may not be rich, we may not be perfect, but we are SO LUCKY to have each other. And I’m grateful to YOU because without your cookups and recipes and guidance, I wouldn’t be where I am today!
I am grateful for humor. My husband and children keep me laughing every day. And I hope I do the same for them.
I’m grateful for honesty & kindness from family & friends. Grateful for the freedoms that come from others sacrifice. And grateful for love & laughter shared with others.
I am so very thankful for my health, my family, and the opportunity I have to live the lifestyle I want and need to be a happy, fit, healthy individual.
I’m SO grateful for the internet – without it, I never would have learned about Paleo or Whole eating. I’m also grateful for my husband’s support as he knows that how much better I feel when eating like this! 🙂
In addition to being grateful for my family, children, friends, I am also grateful for accidentally stumbling upon the Whole 30 plan. And once I stumbled upon that, I’m very grateful for accidentally finding your website and learning all about your food, and then the Well Fed 2 cookbook I just got last week. Thank you, Happy Thanksgiving. Connie
I am grateful to finally be healthy again. And for family and friends.
I am grateful for many healthy Paleo websites. They actually have helped with my son’s Autism and health so much! No more dark circles under his eyes, his behavior in school is awesome, and his socializing is at a break through!
I am grateful for my ability to think outside the box on health and fitness. It is horrible to see so many people sick when they are following their mainstream doctor’s advice
Your truly amazing for giving this away to a lucky reader. I have been blessed with find Paleo and your cookbooks. While doing chemo, I have the energy of a normal adult. It has cut back on some side effects, and is a great natural whole way to eat everyday regardless. Thanks for all you do!!! Thanks for the blessings of the knowledge!
I’m grateful for my husband being home from a year in Kuwait. Not only that, but with him coming home he started our whole family eating Paleo. I’m thankful for that because my health issues have improved in just 3 months. No more dizzy spells and my migraines have significantly reduced. I’m grateful my husband is home and I’m grateful for improved health.
I am so thankful for people willing to share truth. Whether it is nutritional information, spiritual guidance, or just everyday helpful hints. It’s encouraging to have help along my journey of life. Thank you!
I’m grateful for my two zany children, Felix (18 months) & August (3.5 months). And I’m glad to take a break from being pregnant after having 2 kids in 1.5 years!
I am grateful for friends, family, and to have discovered Whole30, paleo and the subsequent health benefits. I feel ten years younger!
I’m thankful for family and friends and for steady work and health.
I am thankful for each new day and the ability to think, move and enjoy this life that I have been given.
Oh boy. 1 out of 1000 chance to win this, but why not try?
I’m grateful for my health, family, friends, memories, and maybe most importantly: the fact that I lucked into being part of a country and socioeconomic status that allows me the freedom and resources to be able to browse my favorite paleo blogs for new healthy recipes!!!
Also grateful that few people care about my run-on sentences on internet comments.
I am very thankful I found the Paleo way of eating so I could cure my arthritis.
I am greatful for the health of my wife, my child, my parents, and me.
I am grateful for good health, which is why I love your cook book and this blog.
I am gratful for looking to a bright future of my fiancée getting healthy and living a long life with me.
I am grateful for the health of my family and that I live in a time when it is so easy to get support online for healthy living!!
I’m grateful for my friend Colleen, who introduced me to Whole30. Taking control of my diet has completely changed my life. I am now controlling my hypothyroidism without the thyroid meds that made me sick, miserable and chronically stressed. My doctor told me that I’d need those meds forever – thank goodness for everyone who gave me the opportunity to find another way.
I am grateful that I have the resources available to feed my family and myself healthy nutritious food such a local pastured meats an produce. I am truly grateful to the Paleo way of life. It has changed myself and my family in many positive ways!!!
i am grateful for WellFed (1). Taught me the basics of cooking in a way that i knew i could DO. and i did. Been paleo/primal for 14 months and have changed a 50+ year old habit of poor eating. never felt better. love you, Mel!
What makes me feel grateful? My family, and friends, a nice day outside, the home I live in, the neighborhood I live in, the school that I go to and the job that I have. Yoga, the gym, a full healthy body. New york, wonderful people and not so wonderful. Life experiences. Food and my awesome taste buds. Ice skating rinks, the ocean, lakes, and swimming pools. Feeling free, feeling calm, and euphoric.
Thankful for my family and our paleo adventure. Thank you so much for your amazing cookbooks! They’ve changed our eating habits and have made me an actual cook.
I’m thankful for having a loving and beautiful family inside and out. They support me through everything. I’m also thankful for my wonderful life and the ability to take the bad with the good and get stronger with each obstacle that is thrown at me. Life is a wonderful thing and I don’t want to miss out on it!
I am thankful for the Paleo community of bloggers and followers who impart so much useful information. Finding good health is a journey made easier by those who walk the path with you. Melissa, your cookbooks have revolutionized my cooking! Thank you!!!
I am grateful for the love and support I get from my friends and family! It would be hard to imagine life with out them!

Both times have been personal struggles and those that love me have tolerated my poor moods and cancellations due to illness. They have encouraged me to follow a diet that they themselves did not understand, simply because they knew how much I believed in it. Not only have I learned to eat better, I have also learned to be thankful for others and the support they have given me.
Thankful for friends and family who support me in my choices, especially when I decided to stop drinking beer (in Portland, OR?!) for a while, stop eating rice (I’m Korean), and stop eating ice cream (my go to evening treat). Just last week my boyfriend sat with me in the ER for 4 hours after I badly scratched my cornea, took me out for a nice dinner afterwards, and THEN patched my tire the next morning after I woke up to a flat (and switched cars with me so I wouldn’t be late for work). I’m so grateful to have someone in my life who not only does all that, but also manages to make me laugh even when things feel like they’re at their crappiest.

I am thankful for my family; my wonderful, amazing husband that encourages all of us with healthy eating and pushes me through CrossFit.
There are too many things for me to be grateful for and I feel very blessed. I have healthy and happy friends and family, a strong willed and intelligent daughter, a supportive boyfriend and a dream job focused on health and wellness. I am especially thankful for my health, both mental and physical, because people often take that for granted. I had two friends die this last year in accidents that could have been avoided and at very young ages. I am thankful that I am alive and try to remember every day that my health and safety is the most important thing, because without them I cannot enjoy everything else that my wonderful life has to offer.

I am thankful for It Starts with Food and the encouragement to read and understand it. Due to this new knowledge I became aware of alternative medicine for myself as well as my dog. This past May I was told he wouldn’t get any better and just live with major back pain. I was at my wits end and found a wonderful holistic vet and now he thinks and acts like a puppy. So thankful for finding new ways to care for myself and my dog knowing how bad everything out there is for you.

I am grateful for great family and friends that love me just as I am.
I am thankful for everyday I am able to wake to a beautiful, strong woman and 5 amazing children. My support system of these people allowed me to take a leap into a new career, where we as a family are able to teach other families, fitness, nutrition, and mental wellness. I was an educator for 17 years, lastly a high school Principal on top of this I was a single father for 10 years until I met a beautiful woman with 4 wonderful children. Up until a year-and-a-half ago I had a secure, highly stressful position that didn’t allow me to spend a lot of time with my new family. It was at this point of many stressful nights and lost sleep, with the support of my family I decided to move on and try my hand at a new career. I am not earning nearly half as much as I did as a Principal but we are a happy family and spending kits if time together. I am able to take them to school, pick them up and help them with homework not to mention training their diving team. I am able to be the Father my father never was, his words not mine.

After living with celiac disease for the past 10 years and still not feeling great on a gluten free diet I decided to try paleo and the difference is amazing ! I have so much energy. I’ve completed 2 half marathons and cannot wait to tackle a full marathon soon!
I’m so grateful for all of the resources and support out there for those on paleo diets. I’m just beginning this journey, having made the switch to this lifestyle after years of unexplainable health issues. I’m so grateful that there’s so much information available, and so grateful that in just 6 weeks I’m already seeing so much improvement in my symptoms.
I am grateful for love and fresh air and dark chocolate!
I am grateful for my large glass of kombucha and my favorite person to cuddle with 🙂
I’m grateful for my supportive, loving husband and two beautiful kids! Your new cookbook is the first thing on my Christmas list. 😉
I am grateful for your blog, stories and advice! Keep ’em all coming!!!
