Do you know Becky from the web site A Calculated Whisk? You really should. (She’s also got a pretty brilliant Instagram account.) Her recipes are reliable and reliably delicious, and they cover the kind of international territory—with spices, sauces, and bold flavors—that make me happy to spend time in the kitchen. I was delighted to review her cookbook Paleo Planet: Primal Foods from the Global Kitchen and provide a blurb for the cover. Her recipes are really creative, and the book includes paleo recipes I haven’t seen before.
Skillet cornbread and moussaka? Yes, please!
There are more than 125 multicultural recipes in Paleo Planet with plenty of everyday entrees, plus fun brunch ideas, appetizers and snacks, and desserts for when you’re in the mood for a treat. Your cookbooks have taught me to crave middle eastern spices. I jar the mixes up and make everything taste far more real and exciting. I first thought of Greece for foods that include beautiful tomatoes, lemons and tzatziki sauce, but it is raining here for the week, so I want a tasty eastern European stew or Moroccan tangine.
Italy!!! I want authentic!!!
I would travel to Peru to eat Choritos a la Chalaca and Panchamanca. There’s something magical about the Panchamanca which is cooked in a hole in the earth. It’s a comforting full circle method to bring food to its origin and final resting place — the earth . And then I’d go for a hike on the Inca Trail at Machu Picchu—when in Peru!
Definitely Turkey! I lived there for many years growing up, and am in love with the food!
I’d definitely go for some traditional Vietnamese! The citrus flavours combined with the spices and meat get me every time!

I wouldn’t teleport to a different place, but to a different time. To when my Grandmother was alive and cooking good, old fashioned Yankee fare (my clan hails from Bartlett, NH and a good many are still in St. Johnsbury, VT). She could take the crappiest cut of meat and make it something amazing. Of course, she’d call it something graceful like “Sh*t on a Shingle” (which any good Yank is familiar with).
I would go to Jamaica and have jerk chicken and fresh fruit, while overlooking the beautiful ocean views. After enjoying the fresh flavorful food I would end it with a steaming cup of blue mountain coffee.
Italy – Whatever the Italians suggest.
As long as we’re imagining, I’d imagine my new cozy porch is already built, and I’d walk on out to it carrying a tray of wonderful dinner. Free range chx livers sauteed in bacon fat w/carmelized onions alongside a heaping helping of shaved brussels sprouts stir fried in same bacon fat w/crumbled bacon atop. For a spot of color, roasted beets in thin slices marinated in orange/vanilla white balsamic.

3. I would find all of the small tiny restaurants from Anthony Bourdain and visit them all!
Thailand! Papaya salad & any spicy curry : )
Do I really have to choose just one?! Today I would teleport myself to the former Persia and totally gate-crash a family wedding for a big pot of fesenjan (pomegranate walnut stew). I absolutely love the flavor combinations from that part of the world; pistachios, pomegranates, apricots, cardamom, grilled meats, fresh tomatoes, mint, and the list goes on and on…

Argentina for Asado and Malbec <3
New Zealand for a delicious meat pie…yum
I would solicit information as to which country has the best Paleo restaurant in the world and that’s where I’d teleport to. And since I’m not allowed to fly if teleporting would be out as well (!), then I would be happy to pick the best Paleo restaurant in the US . Although, my dear husband says that eating at home is the best so on second thought I’d teleport a renowned paleo.chef to come to my house and cook the dinner for us!
Italy! I need to get in touch with my roots.
Spain for paella!
I’d head to Hanoi, Vietnam for some Pho Bo (beef noodle soup). Yummm.
My pick is Goa (now a part of India, but formerly a Portuguese colony), and I’d stuff my face with chicken vindaloo! This is a favorite meal from childhood. One of my great-grandmothers was from Goa, but I’ve never been there nor had an “authentic” version of this dish – only the one lovingly made by my Dad who owned all the real cooking chops in our “Macanese” family.
India for butter chicken and Naan.
I would transport myself to a boat in the Caribbean and cook up whatever fresh fish I could catch served with a simple green salad and watch the sun set.

To New Zealand for the lamb.
Tuscany area in Italy to eat (and drink) just about anything.
I would go to Crete,Greece and have an authentic Greek salad with grilled octopus caught from the Mediterranean Sea.

Laos… for some yummy duck laap (cooked minced meat salad with mint, garlic, and hot chilies), salad, raw green beans, and sliced cucumbers! Then some fresh tropical fruit for dessert … now it is mango season.

Hands down, I’d go back to SINGAPORE (BEST FOOD EVER) and order Chili Crab with those GORGEOUS little buns that I cannot recreate!
I would go to India and eat everything I could that was Gluten Free! I love Indian food!
