Swing, Swing

If only a catchy song could take away the pain of swings. Lots and lots of swings! (225, to be exact)

Listen to the All-American Rejects “Swing, Swing” while I tell you about this morning’s Bootcamp.

Our workout
5X (1:00 rest), 4X (:45), 3X (:30), 2X (:15), 1X of the following

  • 10 walking lunges, 10-lbs. dumbbells overhead
  • 15 swings, both dumbbells

3 rounds

  • 15 Russian twist+overhead tap, 8-lb. ball
  • 15 box jumps
  • 3X spring up+down stone staircase

Oh! the swings. SO hard. I did a few reps with 15-lb. dumbbells, but they’re still a little too heavy for the Frankenneck. My friends keep telling me to “take it easy” for the month of December, so I’m trying to find a balance between my desire to go all out and my post-surgery abilities.

I think my favorite part of the morning was the box jumps into stair running. I felt really strong and free… wheeeeee!

Then we had to give an I Am CrossFit testimonial to the video camera. My hair was a sweaty mess, and I was completely sans makeup, so I’m not too excited to see how I look. I am, however, proud to be CrossFit.

“I am CrossFit because I never cheat, and I never quit.”

Glad you are back on the Grind! Recovery can be suck worse than the injury.

Thanks, Mike! It feels great to be moving again. Can’t wait to start the I Am CrossFit workouts and leave this recovery phase behind.

The Frankenneck is healing nicely and although I don’t agree, I’ve been told it looks “tough,” “dope,” and “badass”… so I’m gonna go with that.

I’m working on the story of the pirate duel that left me with the scar. That’s WAY sexier than surgery.
