My first Quarterly box made its way into the world last week, and it was really fun to see everyone's reactions to the goodies I...

You know how awesome it is when you check the mail, and you’re expecting the usual boring bills and catalogs, but then there’s a package just for you? And it’s loaded with goodies you love, plus a personal note signed by a person you like?
How you’d like to get a package like that from me four times a year?
If that sounds like a good idea to you, please head over here and tell Quarterly that you want me to be the curator of a paleo/primal box! (International friends, Quarterly ships to Canada and the rest of the world, so everyone can subscribe to my Quarterly box!)
UPDATE August 8, 2014: I got great news from Quarterly today! I got enough votes, and I’m going to be a curator… which means a super cool paleo/primal box, put together by yours truly, is available from Quarterly soon. You can learn more and sign up here!
About Quarterly
Every three months, the Quarterly curators — like Book Riot, Andrew Zimmern, Timothy Ferriss, and me (!) — put together a box of goodies and send it to their subscribers. It’s like a quarterly magazine only better because it’s stuff to do — and in my case: eat — in addition to stuff to read. “It’s like a magazine,” says a Quarterly rep, “but instead of receiving words on a page, our subscribers receive actual items that tell a compelling story crafted by the curator.”
My Quarterly Box
I’m pretty excited about the idea of being your personal paleo/primal shopper! So what will I put in my Quarterly boxes? The stuff I love: handy, cute kitchen gadgets… delicious new paleo and primal products… books that inspire and inform… decorative doodads… and probably some one-of-a-kind surprises, because custom stuff is the best. Imagine I could turn my blog into a box of gifts, and you’ll be on the right track. Learn more and sign up here!

Oh! I have done quarterly before but had stopped. I signed up for your box!
Thank you so much!
Done!! This sounds like it would be awesome.
Done. I hope this happens!
Done! Super excited. Hope it includes nz but I signed up to support you either way 🙂 You’re the best!
Yes please!! I can’t wait! Happy Birthday to me- literally today! SO COOL!
This is like a dream come true! I’m pinching myself right now…
Just signed up, terrific idea! Though I’m from Sweden ………
What a great idea! Just signed up 🙂
Done! Such a cool idea.
yay done!
I voted too – sounds interesting!
Done! Can’t think of anyone I’d rather have picking and choosing paleo/primal goodies to send me!
I voted yes!
ooh – I’m in! This would be so cool – I’d love to make you a line-item in my budget every 3 months! lol.
Done! Sounds exciting!!
I love the idea. Done!:)
Done! This will be so cool – looking forward to you reaching the goal – and sending us all boxes by Mel!
Idea… One of my favorite aspects of your cooking is your use of and creativity with spices! It would be great if you included a “spice of the quarter” with your box!
Done! Sounds like a neat idea – especially since they will ship to Canada. 🙂
Dine… I mean Done! Good luck! 🙂
Also supporting you, from Canada. 🙂 I agree with the comment on spice. Love the flavours in your dishes!
Thanks for the support and the spice love! 🙂
Sonds strange for me and the environement the gadget in the box, yes it seems fun to have surprise in my mail but it’s like toy in a mc donalds kids meal, fun for one day Trash the next day…:((( i’m sorry…i’m a big fan of you, i have all your cook book.
But for this one…i’m not in. Maybe if the box is full of stuff to eat…
I would never include anything in a box that wasn’t worth having — and yes, most of it will be edible, but if I find other things that support the paleo lifestyle, those will go in, too.
Voted!
ok spicy girl, can’t resist, i voted! Hope receive in my first box some thing to tidy up my spices cabinets!!we had your crispy spiced chicken liver (modified Isa spicy!) to night my son (we) love it so much!
thank for your great job and all the idea!
I wonder if anyone has tried using an electric pressure cooker to speed up the process when cooking 1″ cubes of jicama? I could go the slow cooker route, but it takes too long!
Also…how about that free erecipe book whose offer expired in 2012,,,I just now learned about/got Well Fed (#1) in 2014! Any chance one will be offered in #2 book?
Lastly…Coco Chanel was an avowed anti-Semite, and actually spied for the Nazis…don’t take my word…look it up!
Just thought Melissa and folks should know!
1. Never tried the pressure cooker. Give it a go!
2. The code in the back of the book still works. Help yourself.
3. Yes, Coco Chanel had some character issues.
Melicious! It arrived! Best part of my workday today!!! Love the knife… I need to cut things now. And, might a suggest adding a spoon to the box if you ship more coconut butter? I need one stat! 🙂
Hooray! Hope you enjoy all your goodies!
Yay! I got mine yesterday and LOVE it. I already used the knife and it’s amazing. It sliced through tomatoes like they were butter.
The coconut butter is delish but a little dry. Microwaving it helps and I already have all sorts of plans to use it – on banana bread, pancakes, etc.
And I had no idea that company sold actual bone broth. So cool!
I love all the notes and recipes you included. Getting a care package in the mail from your favorite food blogger is fantastic. Thanks so much!
That one broth is new — not even in stores yet! They sent me a sample, and I liked it, so we finagled 650 of ’em for my Quarterly box. Cool, right?!
I’m so happy you like the box. Thank you for subscribing!
So cool! Do you think it’s just as good as making your own? (Besides probably being more expensive to buy it, I mean.)
Love my Quarterly box….such inspiration!
Keep up the wonderful blogging!
I have both of your cookbooks, and just love and enjoy them so much!
Thank you so much for buying all of our stuff — I’m glad you like the goodies in the Quarterly box! Enjoy!
DJ: Coconut butter is AMAZING for cooking fish (so is coconut milk), esp if you add some curry powder!
I used coconut butter instead of coconut oil when I made the Salmon L’Afrique… it made the paste-topper niiice!
Great Recipe!
Terrey – that’s so interesting. I never thought of using coconut butter as my cooking fat. I might have to try that soon. Thanks!
Such a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
I also LOVE the contents of box #1!!! I’ve wanted to try Primal Pacs and Pure Indian Foods Ghee for awhile but haven’t been able to find them locally. I also love that the contents are mostly edible as I’m working on decluttering (but the knife is awesome and I trust your judgement for selecting helpful things ;).
Hooray! Thank you for subscribing! Primal Pac are the BEST food band-aid ever; glad you got to try them! Use that knife to cut some veggies into submission 🙂
