Austin was delightfully chilly today — my perfect weather, really: a little blustery and nippy enough that a stroll outdoors is refreshing and relaxing inside is cozy. We spent the afternoon at Serve Gourmet, eating food from Well Fed and Well Fed 2 — that I didn’t have to make! — and meeting lovely paleo people. Take a look.
Numero uno awesome thing about today: this sign outside the store. Number two on the hit list? It was cold enough for my leopard coat!
Inside, I had a sweet little setup to greet paleo people amidst all the amazing kitchen gadgets. The store is stocked with all kinds of lovely and functional doodads for the kitchen. I saw a bunch of stuff I wanted — silicone lids shaped like flowers, pretty dish towels, stunning wine glasses — but the only thing I bought was a brush from Lodge to clean my newly-seasoned cast-iron skillets.
One of the first people to arrive was my friend Stacy — an old comrade-in-arms from my agency days. Bonus points to her for also wearing animal print.
Then there was a whirlwind of food samples from Well Fed and Well Fed 2 — Golden Cauliflower Soup, Sweet Potato Soup With Bacon, Garlic-Balsamic Butternut Squash, Plantain Nachos, Fried Apples With Pecans, and Pear and Bacon Bites — and a slew of fun paleo people from the Austin Primal Living Group.
I wish I had photos of everyone I met today because they were all smart, smiley, engaging, and a treat. Here’s a sampling of just a few of the pretty paleo people I had the good fortune to meet:
From the top… Robin, who made the whole Serve extravaganza a reality and did all the cooking… Billy, a new transplant to Austin from Brazil… Elil and Kristi, glowing with good health and happiness… and Vivian, another stunner and veteran of my Whole Foods cooking classes.
Big hugs of thanks to the fine folks at Serve for hosting us and to everyone who came out to play today. It was cold outside, but you warmed my heart.

Please come to Dallas! I Just wolfed down a large quantity of mustard-garlic brussels sprouts from Well Fed 2. So tasty and easy! I’ve always liked brussels sprouts, but I had never really considered them “comfort food” until now. Thank you!
ps. You look great in leopard!
We’ll try to hit the rest of Texas in the new year. Glad you like the Brussels sprouts!
Beautiful! <3
Thanks, Mom! I think the front of my hair is too short — but at least it grows quickly 😉

Hooray! Have fun with all those recipes!

Congratulations on the success of both books! It’s a testament to the tastiness of the recipes (my favorite is the Elvis burger!).
