CrossFit Prague

For some time now, I’ve been daydreaming about going to Prague. The architecture,the cobblestone streets, the beer, the gorgeous light, and the opportunity to pretend I’m an eastern European spy (preferably named Sasha or Nikita… with a thick slavic accent like Linda Fiorentino in the 1985 film classic Gotcha! starring a pre-ER Anthony Edwards… “He’s a young college student on vacation in Europe for the first time. She’s his first real affair. A beautiful, mysterious woman who thinks danger is one of the most powerful aphrodisiacs there is. His first time may be his last.”)

Give a listen to Ma Vlast (Moldau) Vltava by czech composer Bedrich Smetana while you enjoy photos of my future travel destinations… and at the bottom, you’ll see why today, my caper to Prague became a sure thing.

(An aside… Ma Vlast is a set of six symphonic poems. My favorite is “Vltava.” The music describes the course of the Vltava river, “starting from the two small springs, the Cold and Warm Vltava, to the unification of both streams into a single current, the course of the Vltava through woods and meadows, through landscapes where a farmer’s wedding is celebrated, the round dance of the mermaids in the night’s moonshine: on the nearby rocks loom proud castles, palaces and ruins aloft. The Vltava swirls into the St. John’s Rapids; then it widens and flows toward Prague, past the Vyšehrad, and then majestically vanishes into the distance, ending at the Elbe.” The farmer’s wedding segment and the dance of the mermaids in the moonshine are joyous and beautiful… the melodies! Sigh.)
