My new project is taking all of my attention right now, and I'd love for you to join me for new adventures! It's called Strong...
Read MoreI’d rather have a drawer full of spices than a box full of jewelry. There! I said it. I like spices more than gems. (Although, really, aren’t spices the gems of the food world?)
I was recently introduced to Alejandra’s Seasoning Blends: bold flavor combos that are blended by hand in small batches from 100% organic, non-GMO spices. So far, I used the Cocoa-Mom Dark blend on my Cocoa-toasted Cauliflower and sprinkled the Mellow Red on chicken thighs before grilling… delicious!
THIS DRAWING IS NOW CLOSED! WE HAVE A WINNER!
Alejandra is hooking you up with a full set of her seasoning blends: Gingerlove Curry, Deliciously Hot, Mellow Red, Signature Sazon, Cocoa-Mom Dark, and Nothing But Love. One lucky random winner will get the whole set!

I love to use all different sorts of seasonings and spices. When it comes down to my favorite though, I would have to say regular ol’ garlic salt now that I think about it. Thank you for the wonderful giveaway.

I love the combo in your sunrise spice. Other favorites used constantly, cumin, cinnamon & chunky garlic. The 2 well fed books have shown me a whole new taste experience, delightful.
Nice giveaway. I think a good spice mix can make the most basic dinner spectacular. Right now I’m loving sprinkling Za’atar (my own blend) on all kinds of things and also a spice mix from Savory called Zanzibar Curry has been featured often in the past few weeks.
I love me some cumin!
Definitely anything with cocoa powder–wonderful on salmon or steak!
I love curry mixes of all kinds.
My fave is garlic powder!
Smoked paprika and cayenne–especially for your pan-fried sardines which I eat at least once a week if not more!
I like the Chicken & Pork Spice Rub from Stonewall Kitchens.
Also, I really enjoyed your interview with Neely for The Weight Loss Solution online conference!
Paprika is my favorite spice. I use it in almost everything I make. My favorite blend would have to be Greek Seasoning. I have no idea what’s in it, but I love it.
I just a made your italian sausage blend from Well Fed last weekend and it’s my new favorite for ground pork!!!
Love, love, love cinnamon!!
My favorite spice blend is Sunrise Spice blend 🙂
Yummy…
I like strong flavored spices. I love just about anything curry.
My favorite spice thanks to you is Rogan Josh!
Thanks to you (your blog and both cookbooks) I love spices a lot more! Now that I have a better idea of what to do with them…I use them all the time. 😉 I like your Italian seasoning this month!
I’ve recently tried Penzey’s Shallot Pepper and have been using it on roasted veggies and meat. Thanks to the ideas in Well Fed and Well Fed 2, my spices now fill up a spice rack, a kitchen drawer, and a shelf in the cabinet.
I love Sunny Paris seasoning from Penzey’s.I have only recently started cooking with spices and am amazed at what a difference it makes!
I love the spices that are used in Indian foods… curry, cumin, coriander, and especially turmeric. The health benefits are great, they taste amazing, and I love the coloring they give to dishes.
I would have to agree that thanks to you, I have a lot more seasonings than I used to have, and my current favorite is Penzey’s Tsardust Memories! I could almost eat that stuff with a spoon.
Anything with turmeric!
My favorite spice blend is Penzeys Northwoods Seasoning.
Always looking for something spicy, Deliciously Hot sounds like it would be just that!
I love chili powders. I have a chili-lime blend that I really love.
I love Masala. It’s my own version of catnip, cilantro, cinnamon…and every other delicious addictive spice or herb out there.
Love a good mocha rub. 🙂
I keep going to my version of The Domestic Man’s roast seasoning [salt, pepper, thyme, garlic (Russ uses fresh thyme and garlic, but mine are dried so I can keep the blend made up)]- it just seems right for this time of year.
I think they all sound wonderful. Can’t wait to put them to use.
Love the Cocoa-Mom Dark. Yummmmm.
The gingerlove curry sounds delicious!
I love spices! My favorite, which I sadly just ran out of, was something called Iron Blend and a mix of garlic, onion, and just a bit of heat. It was perfect for steaks. Also sadly, the store is about a six-hour drive away.
I’m a fan of Penzey’s garam masala.
I like the sound of these blends.
My favorite blend is Old Bay Seasoning. Love it in chili and stew.
I am eating a carrot-squash soup with freshly ground nutmeg right now that is awesome. It has a whole bunch of other spices that I added as I went along — ginger, dash of cayenne, etc. Problem is, I sort of made up this recipe with the main goal of getting rid of some stuff in the fridge like a couple of pears past their prime and a whole bunch of carrots that my husband cooked with no plan (and no spices — what’s the matter with him!!). And I have no idea how much of anything I put in the soup, so while it is delicious, I won’t be able to repeat it exactly.
It is hard for me to pick only one. I would have to say all things curry would be my favorite. I use it in meat, veggies and fruit!
I love the sausage seasonings from both your books. I use them all the time!
My favorite is Herbes des Province it’s great on chicken or vegetables or best of all in my crockpot ratatouille.
MY FAVORITE IS CUMIN!! I LOVE IT IN EVERYTHING
Picking just one is tough. I’m torn between curry, cumin and anything smoked.
It’s a tie between smoked paprika and Trader Joe’s sea salt, garlic, Parmesan grinder. I roast cauliflower in ghee & smoked paprika with a little sea salt. SO GOOD. The TJ’s seasoning is great on anything and adds just the right hint of garlicky goodness.
I use Nature’s Seasoning as my default spice. Just a good basic seasoning.
Definitely “Nothing but love!”
Gingerlovecurry!I have yet to meet a curry that I didn’t love 🙂
I like it hot! Or, of course, chocolate!
I. Love. Love. LOVE garlic powder!!!
I love garlic salt, boring but true 🙂

Mural of Flavor at Penzy’s is my favorite! Love it on chicken.
Since I learned about them here, I’ve become a huge Penzey’s fan. Their Adobe is fantastic on pork or chicken.
I love cayenne and use it liberally… perhaps too liberally sometimes. Good thing I cook for one and only have to please my own palate!
Penzeys sunny Paris! Yummm…
Penzeys sunny Paris!! Yumm…
I’m a fan of the flavors of Herbes de Provence.

Ginger. From hot drinks on a cold day, to curry to gut-healing jellies, ginger is my favorite and go-to spice for everything. Love!
I couldn’t live without garlic. 🙂
Cumin!
My favorite blend of spices is your Lebanese Seven-Spice Blend from Well Fed 2. I use that on something – usually a breakfast scramble – daily.
Salt is my number one and pepper is my number 2. it is amazing how correctly seasoning with these two can make or break a dish.
Now going deeper than those two – I’d have to pick granulated garlic. Love it!
Everything tastes better with Cumin on it and Nom Nom Paleo’s homemade Mushroom powder.
Yummo!!!-
These look great! One of my favorite spice blends is Garam Masala. After living in India for three years, I’ve found multiple ways to use this spice and love it in curries and soups.

Cumin. If a recipe calls for a teaspoon, I invariably find myself trying it that way once, then adding a tablespoon every time I make it again.
I am LOVING your Lebanese spice blend from Well Fed 2. I have been putting it on every meal!
My favorite blend is the Sunrise Spice from Well Fed! I use it all the time in scrambles, salmon cakes, hashes, etc. Cinnamon and smoked paprika are favorites too.

Smoked Paprika. It’s under utilized and adds such flare to most any dish!
I would have to say garlic salt!
Chili Powder and Cumin are my go to!!
Then Curry Love, Love, LOVE IT!
Fall soups have spawned my love of curry and ginger. Your zucchini ginger soup is my favorite, and a new pumpkin curry recipe is my 2nd.
I love good old crushed garlic and all sorts of onions (green, red, yellow)…DELICIOUS!!:)
Cayenne!
Awesome! I have always loved spices, but my current favorite is Chinese 5 Spice blend thanks to Well Fed. You really taught me how to spice up anything in that wonderful cookbook.
When my kids were small they used to love fresh italian bread dipped in olive oil with seasoning. Pinzimonio. We took them to the Farmer’s Market downtown and there was a spice dealer. He gave them cinnamon sticks. We told him what the kids liked and he recommended Za’atar to us. It’s been years but I still keep it in my pantry.
My favorite blend is Penzeys’ Tsardust.
I just purchased your books and bookmarked your blog after watching your video on THE WEIGHT LOSS SOLUTION conference, so I don’t have a favorite yet. I drove up to Penzey’s yesterday and purchased Turkish, Maharajah, Zatar, and Tsardust seasonings. The ladies in the shop were bragging about what good seasonings I had chosen. I had to give you credit. While I was in town, I drove over to Whole Foods. I saw some Ras El Hanout seasoning there, but decided to make it from your recipe. I look forward to trying your blends!
Thanks so much for buying our cookbooks — have fun with all the new spices!

Maybe it’s the time of year but pumpkin pie spice blend is my newest go to. Like most…. love them all!
Can’t beat, Garlic, Salt & Pepper
ooh! Sounds fabulous! I wanna try her version of Sazon! I’ve been intrigued forever by the name (perfect taste in a jar!) on those bottles in the grocery store, but have never had it since every.single.darn.bottle has MSG in it. grrrr.
My go-to when I’m lazy, bored and blah is Penzey’s Mural of Flavor. It’s tasty on everything. I keep a bottle on my desk at work. heh. I bet Sazon would give it a run for its money!
