BlogHer Food in Miami

Dave and I are off to Miami for the BlogHer Food ’14 conference. I cannot say the words “I’m going to Miami” without mentally singing Buenvenidos a Miami… and visualizing this:

I’m speaking on a panel called “Picking a Path – The Traditional vs. Indie Book Publishing Route,” and as much as I am trying to daydream it into being, I suspect we will not be dancing with Will Smith at any point during the conference. However, I will be meeting Dianne Jacob — author of Will Write For Food — in person, which is beyond exciting. And we will definitely absolutely indubitably be eating Cuban food… maybe every day.

Since I can’t take you all with me, I instead point you to these recipes for Pan-Fried Plantains and Lizard Sauce. Play some salsa music loud enough to annoy the neighbors, shake your tail feathers, and pop a plantain in your mouth. It’ll be just like we’re all together!

  • I went to the blogherfood conference and was able to see you speak. I didn’t get to meet you in person but I just wanted to say that absolutely love your personality and energy. You inspired me and gave me hope that my blog will one day be big. 🙂 Thank you so much for speaking and I look forward to talking and meeting with you one day. I live in Miami so any time you are down here don’t hesitate to contact me so we can eat some Cuban food and dance to Will Smith’s Bienvenido a Miami lol – XO

    • Thank you for coming to our presentation — I’m sorry I didn’t get to meet you! Glad you found it helpful. And yes, hang in there. I had no idea what would happen with my blog, and here I am. I think my #1 piece of advice is to write because you love to do it… and then other good things will come, too. Keep me posted on how you’re doing!
