Smupdate! November 19, 2012

Sometimes, when I’m hard at work typing and thinking, or cooking, or just generally trying to get ahead in the world, I take a break to see what Smudge is up to. Or I grab her and hug her ’til she makes the “put me down” noise.

Sometime during November 2009, a black and white kitty found her way to our neighbor Stef’s pottery studio and decided she didn’t want to leave. Stef decided that the kitty needed to come to our house. Three days and much hemming-and-hawing later, the black and white kitty was sleeping on the leopard cushions in our living room while we debated what her name should be.

The contenders: Hollywood. Schnozzle. Sabrina. Zoinks. Pork Chop. And Smudge.

Now I will forever more associate Thanksgiving with this little scamp becoming part of our family. Given her connection to Turkey Day, you’d think she’d have more respect for this impressive bird from Tendergrass Farms. But, no. She reacted to the turkey with the same level of disdain she usually reserves for squirrels and neighboring cats in the yard.

Smudge is most appropriate IMHO 🙂
BTW, dead bird = no play time for kitty. Kitty not interested now. Find something else to entertain me (kitty), Human.

My dad tied a rabbit foot to a piece of twine and jerk it around the living room for our cats. Kitties loved the rabbit foot 🙂

The little black fingerprint on her nose makes me want to boop her nose. Boop! Therefore, she should be named “Boop.”

Smudge is just the perfect name for her, and not just because it lends itself to the word “Smupdate” (Sabrindate? I don’t think so). I luv-luv-luv Smupdates, thanks, and I voted for you on the Paleo Awards site — Happy Thanksgiving to you, Dave, and Smudge.
