Our New Project: Strong Sense of Place
My new project is taking all of my attention right now, and I'd love for you to join me for new adventures! It's called Strong...
Read MoreFresh air. Blue skies. Mountain scenery. And an all-day, paleo throwdown called Do It Better: A Practical Guide to Paleo at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado. If I wasn’t part of this all-day, paleo throw-down, I would definitely be attending this all-day, paleo throwdown because — in addition to yours truly — it features two of my favorite bloggers: Michelle of Nom Nom Paleo and Holly of Holly Would If She Could. Come out and play with us in beautiful Estes Park!
We’ll all be doing separate presentations that tap into our different points of view and experiences, then we’ll come together at the end for a panel Q&A. Ask us anything! Throughout the day, we’ll be sharing practical tips and tricks to help attendees learn how to use the paleo framework to eat better, feel better, look better, and live better. Plus, with the three of us, you know there will be plenty of sarcasm, laughs, and foodie talk, so… yay!
(P.S. I desperately hope it’s chilly enough in Colorado — even if it’s only for 5 minutes — to wear my furry spy hat. Please, weather gods, throw me a bone.)
(P.P.S. I’ll be bringing copies of Well Fed to sell and sign, as well as some exciting new merch. YAY! And if you already have a copy of Well Fed, preferably beat up and food stained, I’ll be glad to sign that for you, if you’d like!)
UPDATE 09/07/2012: Lunch!
The chef at YMCA of the Rockies (Hi, Michael!) is preparing a lunch buffet of recipes from Well Fed. It’s $10 and includes Chocolate Chili, Cinnamon Beef Stew, Rogan Josh, Shepherd’s Pie, The Best Chicken You Will Ever Eat, raw veggies with Moroccan Dipping Sauce, and berries for dessert.

If Colorado wasn’t 1000+ miles from Wisconsin, I would be there!! Enjoy and have fun!
I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to justify wearing a furry spy hat in late September at Estes Park altitude – even if just for 5 minutes. Overnight lows in the mountains are already down in the 40’s. I’m planning on signing up!
Mel, Im so excited to finally meet you. Can’t believe it will actually be here in CO. Will you be bringing extra copies of Well Fed?
This is going to be so fun!
I live in Boulder and I’m buying my tix tomorrow. I guarantee you should pack a fleece. I’m just curious what the plan for lunch is at the conference? The YMCA of the Rockies cafeteria isn’t known for their food. Imagine your worst SAD lunch line…Sysco central. (of course, I’m thinking of my lunch a month ahead of time!)
If you have time, check out the food scene in Boulder. We have some great restaurants and we’re a farm-to-table kind of town.
Details are still being worked out, which is why I haven’t done an official announcement yet, but… we’re trying to make arrangements for the chefs to prepare dishes from Well Fed for lunch. Will let you know as soon as I do if that’s a go.

Yum!!! That’s a LOT of food!
Congratulations! And what a great crew of star experts.
I’m as far away as Mariah B from my birth state otherwise I would join in the fun.
If I wasn’t going away in mid-October I’d fly there from Montreal!
Totally waiting for Paleo FX 2013 to meet you guys. 🙂 Fingers crossed!
Have a great time in Colorado!
Three of my favourite paleo/CF bloggers together – pity I’m in Australia!
I guess I know what I’m doing Sept 29! And I love Estes Park! Glad they are doing this menu, though, because, as someone else said, the standard fare in the cafeteria leaves pretty much everything to be desired, from a nutritional and a flavor standpoint.
I just fund your blog through Carrots and Cake and I have been devouring it! I have been wanting to start eating Paleo for a few months now and could not get myself motivated. After looking through your book and trying your recipes, I am hooked! I finally got some motivation! I just tried your maple almond faux jacks and they were delicious! Thanks so much!

I’m stoked that you and nomnompaleo are coming to Colorado! Are you doing any other speaking engagements? I have a work obligation that I can not get out of on the 29th. Maybe a second seminar somewhere in Denver on Sunday? Just wishful thinking! My body, is so thankful to have found your awesome paleo recipes!
So freaking excited!!
I’m signed up! I’m driving up from Denver and bringing along a friend and her newborn – she is excited to raise her kids on healthy whole foods!
I’m also excited about the lunch! I haven’t tried a couple of those recipes yet, so although I will be tempted by my favorite Chocolate Chili, I’ll probably branch out and try something new!
I’ve been getting more and more interested in Whole30 and also the Paleo diet. So excited that you will be coming to Colorado. A friend just told me about the event today! I was wondering if there is a specific schedule or agenda for the day?
I think I’m starting the day off with my presentation, then Holly, then Michelle… I *think*. We’re all covering different aspects of how to make paleo easier and practical in everyday, “real” lives. I know the organizers are working on a specific agenda for us, but we haven’t gotten it yet. It’s going to a really fun, action-packed day!
I’m going! I’m excited! Long drive but yay!
