Book Signing in Philly 8/30/12

Woot! Just one week until my Well Fed signing at CrossFit Center City in Philadelphia. Come out and play with us!

The fabulous Meghan Ramos has been my partner in crime, and we’ve cooked up some fun stuff!

First, I’m doing a short chit-chat of how I found myself eating paleo in the first place, and then I’ll read some of the foodies stories from Well Fed. Or maybe I’ll just recite the ingredients list for one of the recipes in a bunch of silly accents. Who can say?

After that, it’s a free-for-all Q&A where you can ask me anything you want! Really. Anything. I reserve the right to fabricate answers, however.

Plus, we’ve got free snacks lined up from some of the best paleo-friendly food companies around:

Sweet Freedom Bakery
Sweet, indeed! Sweet Freedom Bakery’s contain no gluten, dairy, egg, soy, corn, peanut, or refined sugar — and they’re supplying us with cookies to make the book signing a little bit, um, sweeter.

Lava Lake Lamb
The best 100% grass-fed lamb and beef from a family-owned ranch in Idaho. They’ve donated a $50 gift certificate and Lava Lake Lamb hat for a raffle. (Read my previous review here.)

Primal Pacs
My favorite on-the-go, take-it-anywhere, especially-on-the-plane paleo snack. Organic, grass-fed, grass-finished jerky (sugar free and made with a family recipe) packaged with high-quality dried fruit and nuts.

Sea Snax
Irresistible roasted seaweed (gluten free and Non-GMO Project verified) with a little olive oil and a pinch of sea salt. They’re like the Nori Chips in Well Fed only you don’t have to make them yourself!

Sunbutter
Who can resist the allure of Sunbutter?! No one. Made from specially roasted sunflower seeds, it is completely peanut-free, tree-nut free and gluten-free.

Kasandrinos Olive Oil
Delish! Samples of 100% pure, Kasandrinos Extra-Virgin Olive Oil. I love that it’s local to Philadelphia!

Paleonola
Crazy-good, tastes-like-candy, grain-free granola. Read my previous review here; this stuff is redonk.

Wonderful Pistachios
When pistachios are around, something wonderful happens: everyone gets crackin’. Dave’s favorite nut, so yay!

(NOTE: I keep typing “book singing ” instead of  “book signing,” and I can’t help but imagine how awesomely hideous Well Fed: The Musical could be!)

Come out and play with us!

Date: Thursday, August 30
Time: 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Place: CrossFit Center City, 1229 Chestnut Street, BASEMENT, Philadelphia [map]
RSVP: It’s not required, but if you RSVP at EventBrite we’ll have an idea of how many badasses like you will be there. And then I can be less stressed out about how many copies of Well Fed we should have on hand.

  • Jackie says:

I, alas, cannot come because of work obligations, but am sending my lovely husband Jim who has just completed his first Whole 30 and beyond.

He’s eaten many dishes from Well Fed and loved them all (except the Butternut Squash souffle which was too spicy for his delicate tastebuds which by the smell of it were gearing up for something like pumpkin pie so he now calls it Satan’s casserole).

He’ll be the guy who looks intimidated by the fact that he’s in a Crossfit place.

  • Mel says:

I can’t wait to meet all of you… YAY! I wish we could make a Well Fed meal magically materialize so we could have a big dinner party, but hopefully the snacks will tide us over 😉

  • Maggie says:

I live nowhere near Philadelphia, so, I will regrettably not be there for your book signing. However, I just bought your book and I am so excited I am ready to pee my pants!! I LOVE your recipes, can’t even tell you how much!
Have a great book signing and know that there are so many more fans out here that would love to be THERE.

  • Christine says:

I am in LOVE with Well Fed…from start to finish it is superb! From the amazeballs recipes to the mouth-watering photos of your delicious creations…this is what a paleo cookbook should look like. Better yet this is what every cookbook should look like. I have yet to meet a Well-Fed recipe that I haven’t drooled over. I make the paleo pad thai at least once a week. Thank you so much! Can’t wait for the next book!

    • Mel says:

Thank YOU for taking the time to let me know you’re enjoying Well Fed. I hope you have so much fun in the kitchen, and I’ll definitely let you know when the follow up to Well Fed is ready. We’re super excited about it!

  • Elise says:

I’ll sing in the musical :^) See you tomorrow – my first author signing ever!

  • Angie says:

I often imagine life as a musical. It’d be way more fun. And I cant sing or dance. Lol. Have fun at your book signing. Hope you have a good turn out. If you ever make it to Beautiful North Idaho, I’d love to do a book singing with you. 🙂
