This Just In (Again): Never Quit

I was going to share this video with you in my Rants & Raves this weekend, but I liked it so much, I decided to cough it up now. The soundtrack is a little over the top, and the pacing is drawn out for maximum heart-string tugging, but dang it! It worked. I was genuinely moved and inspired by this story.

Although I strive to curb my whining, and I actively work on managing my negative feeling about it, I deeply resent the hormonal challenges of having a broke-ass thyroid. Then this guy comes along, with his limitations and his can-do attitude, and gives me a kick in the butt.

(This is a testimonial video for DDPYoga, about which I know absolutely nothing except what I read on the marketing web site. But I have to admit, I am kinda tempted by the DVDs for those days when I want a break from typing but don’t want to drive to the yoga studio. I’m a big fan of home workouts because there are not good excuses when the workout is righthere.)

    I just had to have my thyroid meds adjusted…so I was feeling sorry for myself. I’m preparing for a big campaign of “clean up, tighten up” my diet & a change to my training/sleep/attitude so this was pretty inspirational. 🙂
    Who knew DDP was a yogi? weird….

    Thank you for sharing this. I am on day…6, I think, of my first Whole 30. I feel like I have so far to go that I want to just quit and console myself with some cookies. But that’s what has gotten me into this mess and if I don’t change something now, it will only get worse, not better.
    I haven’t cheated a bit, other than I probably had too much fruit after lunch today. 🙂 I can already feel a difference and that is encouraging. So is this video. Thanks!

    To everyone who got teary… I know! I started watching it, and I was, like, “Hmmmph… this is a little over the top.” And then next thing I knew: tears. In the best way.

    My husband has the beginning DVD set and has been using it almost about 4 to 5x a week for the last 3 weeks and really enjoying it . He really loves the WWE though. If you love WWE and want to do Yoga at home then I would recommend it. If you are not that into WWE you might be able to get some other cheaper yoga DVDS

    This was wonderful. Yes, the music was a bit much, but what an inspirational story. The bit at the end where he is running – RUNNING – towards the camera just broke my heart open with happiness.

    Whenever someone asks why I do 100 pull-ups my answer is because I can. There are many people that stop when their minds start yelling ” I can’t”. It takes chutzpah to do it….

    Thank a Veteran for their service. They gave everything without thinking their bodies may breakdown destroying quality of life most of us take for granted.

    My CrossFit workout last night was hard. HARD hard. Like, I cried in the middle, and again at the end. It was a significant amount of running, and I’m just not a runner (yet, anyway). But I kept telling myself two things — just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and never cheat, never quit. Thanks for this blog, Mel. Whether you know it every day or not, it is making a difference in people’s lives.

      Oh… I’m sorry it was a tough one for you! I can totally relate to the whole crying during a workout thing. I’ve definitely been there.
