Monday News

It’s Dave’s birthday today and we’re enjoying a tiny bit of quiet before the onslaught of PaleoFx and SXSW here in Austin. I’ll be tweeting and blogging about what’s happening here at PaleoFX, so make sure you follow me on Twitter for gossipy updates, fashion reports, and paleo celeb sightings.

Paleo FX Panel and Cooking Demos

PaleoFX is a conference that’s bringing together the stuperstars of our paleosphere to focus on the practical application of the science that was thrown down at the Ancestral Health Symposium last year. It starts this Wednesday here in Austin, it features the big brains (and lovely, lean brawn) of people I talk about all the time: Robb Wolf, Chris Kresser, Mark Sisson, Sarah Fragoso, Diane Sanfilippo, Amy Kubal, Nora Gedgaudas, Melissa and Dallas of Whole9, and dozens more. Check out all the speakers right here.

The panel that was cooked up for us by Nom Nom Paleo is called Virtual Foodies – Contributions to the Tribe. It features some of my favorite paleo foodies — Julie and Charles of Paleo Comfort Foods, Bill and Hayley of Make It Paleo, Nom Nom Paleo, and  Michelle from Caveman Cuisine — and it’s being moderated by Melissa and Dallas from Whole9. We’ll be discussing how we foodie bloggers take the science the smarty-pants are pumping out and turn it into delicious things to eat. We’ll also talk about such hot topics as Paleo treats: good or evil? and cheating versus being strict when readers are watching. It’s sure to be a dynamic discussion with lots of laughing and, potentially, f-bombs.

What: PaleoFX Panel: Virtual Foodies – Contributions to the Tribe
Date: Friday. March 16
Time: 2:00 p.m.
Registration: Get tickets here

We’re also all doing cooking demos with the fabulous gals from Caveman Cuisine. On Friday, I’ll be sharing the recipe for Coconut-Almond Green Beans — between Chris Kresser‘s Goan Chicken Curry and Robb Wolf‘s Quick Breakfast Curry. Friday, my panel cohorts are taking over the mobile kitchen. You can also keep up with all the latest news about PaleoFX with the official blog.

In Other News… Latest In Paleo Podcast…

Latest in Paleo is a weekly, well-put-together, and entertaining podcast by Angelo Coppola (who’s enjoyed tremendous success following a paleo lifestyle). This week, Angelo chews the fat with Sarah Fragoso of Everday Paleo, Billy and Hayley, Julie and Charles, and me to talk about our cookbooks and other food-related topics. Head right over here to listen.

… And An Interview with Easy Paleo

Jennie Harrell is the author of the blog Easy Paleo, and after a very successful experience with a Whole30, threw herself wholeheartedly into paleo blogging and spreading the good food word. Jennie asked me some fun and unexpected questions, like… how I’d describe myself in one sentence. Head on over to visit Jennie and see what I had to say.

    Hi Mel

My sister has recently entered the world of blogging and imagine my delight when she referred me to yours.

I am a recent (we are talking 10 days) convert to Paleo (yes yes still eating everything in sight and desperately missing my oats in the morning but other than that I feel 10 foot tall and bullet proof).

I am a fitness freak who is known to partake in a bit of CrossFit amoungst other heart rate inducing activities. Poking through the crooks and nannies of your site has been awesome… thank you for all you insights… I look forward to more inspiration…
