CrossFit Praha WOD #3

I just want to go on record as saying that using an alarm clock on vacation is evil. Also evil, Zdenek’s workout today. But first, here’s a look at the CrossFit Praha gym. It’s starting to feel like home, and I’m fighting to avoid thinking about our last workout (for now) there on Wednesday.

Here’s the building where CrossFit Praha lives.

This is the buzzer on the front door. It’s like entering a super secret training facility. If you don’t know the password, you don’t get in.

Once inside, you head down the stairs…

And take a look at the whiteboard to see the day’s torture.

Dave actually said, “That doesn’t look too bad.” then Zdenek said, “It’s not for time; you just go at your own pace.” And that’s when I knew it was going to be rough.

WOD
30-20-10 reps
kb clean/side, 12kg
kb rack squat/side, 12 kg
kb Russian power swing, 16kg

It wasn’t for time, but the goal was to do all the reps unbroken. Um, yeah… I managed sets of 10 unbroken in each round. As Zdenek pointed out, the kb cleans and lopsided squats were out of my comfort zone — which is AWESOME. It was a tough workout and a great reminder that there is always some CrossFit trick that will be a challenge. I’m realizing my kettlebell skills are a little lacking. Fun!

Now we’re off on a quest for strudel in the neighborhood called Zizkov, followed by new art and ideas at the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art. Tonight, we’re being tacky tourists and taking “ghost tours” of the Charles Bridge Tower and the city underground… then dinner at an Afghan restaurant called Ariana. I’m super excited ’cause I’ve never tried Afghan food. Photos and stories tomorrow!
