Pssst…. Sneak Peek

I’m not quite ready to unveil all the cookbook details yet – and I can’t wait to tell you the title, ’cause I think you’re gonna love it! For now, I’m super-excited to share a sneak peek of a sample recipe layout. The fabulous Kathleen Shannon is our design genius. She sprinkles Kathleen Fairy Dust™ on everything she does to make it extra special.

This is Kathleen:

And this is the recipe layout on which she sprinkled lots of Kathleen Fairy Dust:

Don’tcha love it?!

Tomorrow, I’ll tell you more about Kathleen, her zombie apocalypse fashion sense, and the secrets of how we’re cosmic cousins. (Spoiler: she was a Rollergirl, too.)

GAH! I die!!! My dream is to either A) own a restaurant or B) write a cookbook… But you and Sarah Fragoso have seemingly come up with every recipe I can think of.

Looks like the restaurant biz is in my future.

When your masterpiece is completed will there be a pre-order? I would like a copy so I can continue wowing my fiancee in the kitchen.

    • Mel says:

Maybe you should open a restaurant AND do a cookbook. YAY!

Yep! There will be pre-orders for the ebook — and both the printed version and ebook will be ready for holiday time!

  • Brittany says:

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! Your beautiful food styling, delicious recipes and witty wordplay + her killer style and design skills?! It’s serendipity.

I cannot wait to pre-order this cookbook! The printed version will be mine.

  • Emily Rose says:

Whaaaaat?! I’ve seen Kathleen around through another blog (A Practical Wedding) and I follow you for Paleo recipes, so it was super weird to have those two worlds collide just now. I totally did a double-take when I saw her photo on your site. Her design work is so clean yet complex – great decision for the cookbook design!

    • Mel says:

Don’t you love the serendipity of that?! Wait til tomorrow’s post when you learn all the ways Kathleen and I are cosmic cousins.

  • That looks awesome! Super excited for it!

  • It’s beautiful! My husband was just telling me that he would love that recipe. He is a fan of eggplant too. So….1 please. 🙂

  • Deb Jones says:

Love it and it looks like you make the recipes easy and enjoyable dont forget about us paleo eaters in australia and yes i would buy your book. Not much available about paleo down here

    • Mel says:

I’ll be selling both a softcover through Amazon and an ebook through my site, so you will totally be able to get it in Australia. Maybe I’ll even personally deliver a copy 🙂

  • diana says:

    Beautiful Mel!

  • emz says:

That looks terrific! Can’t wait to hold your cookbook in my hot little hands!

PS–if I never mentioned it, your dino chow stuff (about shopping, dealing with vegetables, LBD meal planning) was a huge help is getting me to Paleo! So thanks!

    • Mel says:

Thanks for letting me know that stuff is helpful. I’m including an expanded section of that kind of info in the cookbook, too.

  • Barbara says:

    So.Fucking.Excited:P

  • Lindsay says:

Wow, it looks AWESOME! I can’t wait to get a copy!

    • Mel says:

I can’t wait for everyone to be able to get a copy, too. But lots of work to be done before it’s ready for you… soon! But not yet 😉

  • JL says:

Melissa, this layout is going to be AMAZING!! Its going to be easy to read!! yes!! Question…one problem I’ve had with cookbooks in the past is there’s no where to make notes!! have you thought of having a small section on the page for notes? Even if its just a blank section at the bottom. I’m a note taker big time on my recipe books!

    Just a thought!!

    • Mel says:

Hey, JL! You are a smart (paleo) cookie! We are going to include a notes area on lots of the pages so you can make modifications and write your future self reminders about the recipes. Kathleen is designing each page individually, and since this sample recipe is long, there’s no room for Notes, but the other pages will have it… so, yay!

I’m a big note taker, too. My cookbooks are pretty much destroyed: food stains, notes to myself, and illustrations by Dave. They’re very loved. And wrecked 😉

      • JL says:

Good to know!!! I CANNOT wait!! I’m about to cook my way through Sarah Fragoso’s book and I can’t wait to cook through yours too!!! yessss!!!

      • Kathleen says:

I have to add to this just to reiterate that YES! We are definitely designing this book to be written in. Even the pages where there isn’t space for dedicated notes feel free to scribble, doodle and write love notes in the margins.

      • dana says:

I can’t believe you thought of this….I have tons of spills, notes that get smeared, etc. A place for notes is an awesome thing.

  • Amy says:

I am SOOOOOO excited about your upcoming cookbook!!!

  • Iain says:

Hey! This looks AMAZING. Will it be available for us peeps in the UK? Love the blog!

    • Mel says:

Iain, the book will be available as a softcover through Amazon and an ebook through my site, so yes! you’ll be able to get a copy in UK. HOORAY!

  • Harmony says:

I can’t wait for your book!!!!! Will definitely be pre-ordering on Amazon as soon as it’s available. Also, pretty sure I’m going to tackle a Whole30 starting next week, so I’ll be relying on the recipes on your site for now. So excited!

  • WOW that looks SO COOL! This book is going to be WAY awesome! I can’t wait! Thanks for the sneak peek!

  • Chia says:

Its going to be AMAZING !! I don’t know who is more psyched about it, me or my husband who devours every recipe of yours that we’ve tried. CANNOT WAIT !!

    • Mel says:

Aw… thanks, Chia! There are some new recipes in the cookbook that I’m REALLY excited for people to make. Can’t wait to see what you (and your husband!) think.

  • Puravida says:

Yippee:D So excited. Have tried many of your recipes and they are soooo delish! Have sent my paleo friends here to your blog.

  • dana says:

I’m so excited about this! I tell all my crossfit friends about your blog site, but a real live book will be awesome to show them! Thanks!
