Question: What’s More Dangerous Than Eating Glass?

Answer: Sleep deprivation.

I used to be a terrible sleeper. Tossing, turning, fretting. I spent many nights lying with my eyes open, completely stressed about the sleep I was missing, but not knowing how to change my pattern. I routinely muddled through life on 6-7 hours of sleep per night.

But then two things happened: I cleaned up my diet, and I committed to getting at least 8 hours per night. It’s been about a year and a half since I started my sleep experiment, and the nights that I sleep less than 8 hours are very, very rare. I have no need for caffeine, my energy is pretty stable throughout the day, and my sleep is mostly uninterrupted. Lovely!

Ah! Too funny! I just wrote a post on just how awful sleep deprivation was yesterday. (Foster dog with canine flu or kennel cough or something that just won't go away keeping me up at night for three weeks now!!!) After just one night of much better sleep, I'm feeling much more normal again.

How perfect that you post this today! For the last two nights, I have not slept more than 3 hours. I've got two sick kids, and a sick husband. Between the three of them, I'm getting no sleep! AHHHH!!! Great post with great info! Thanks!
