Reading is Sexy: This Is Perfect Jane Eyre Weather

I’ve written about my adoration for Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre a few times before. This weather is the perfect time to listen to the Jane Eyre: The Musical soundtrack, watch the BBC Masterpiece Theatre version on the bus, and crack open of my dozen copies at home (preferably with Smudge in my lap).

There are two nice posts online today by readers who share my affection for Jane and Mr. Edward Rochester.

A Love Letter to Jane Eyre by Homebody Heroine
“It makes me sad, which I like in a book, and it makes me happy, which I also like in a book, and it is a source of comfort. It’s one of those books I can come back to again and again, never minding that I know exactly how it’s going to end, never giving up hope that somehow Jane can be spared the pain she goes through.”

Jane Eyre and its enduring appeal from the Las Vegas Review-Journal
“…what’s kept the book a favorite of mine for all this time are the essential truths at the heart of the story — that good and evil coexist in each person; that children should not be punished for the sins of their parents; that our choices define us; that class is no guarantee of character; that everyone, even a lowly governess, deserves respect.”
