Cookie PR?! And Back to Green Things

On October 25, Dave and I did a Moxy-Boss designed workout we called “Sunday Sprints:”

WOD 1:
4 rounds
10 kettlebell throws
10 broad jumps
run around the park (490m)

WOD 2:
Walk one lap around the park with the kettlebell overhead

Back in October, my times looked like this:
WOD 1 – 20:35
WOD 2 – 10:10

I was stunned at the time that the overhead carry took so long! And honestly, the whole workout was way, WAY harder than I anticipated. Broad jumps kinda always get me, and now that I’m so conditioned to run 400m, I definitely feel the extra 90 meters of the park lap.

It’s always hard to get back into routine after holiday indulgence – and boy! did I indulge. I loved every naughty bite, and the 36-hour tummy ache was neither unexpected nor too sorely resented.

Given that today was probably going to suck anyway, we wanted to do a workout that was challenging, not too intimidating, and required minimal thinking. A “clean” workout that would just require us to (wo)man up and get it done. So… Sunday Sprints.

My times today? Hold onto your hat!
WOD 1 – 17:39
WOD 2 – 6:35

Hell, yeah! Three minutes off my times! I was beside myself. And much as I’d like to give the credit to my incredibly delicious Russian teacakes, fruitcake, and chocolate chip cookies, I think it probably has a lot more to do with the squeaky clean living and heavy lifting I did in the last two months. I complain from time to time about living in health jail, but feeling that strong and that fit and that ALIVE this morning makes it all seem easy.

And speaking of clean living, I grilled a pile of chicken thighs, prepped a batch of Moroccan pork chops, and raided the grocery store veggie aisle for green things. See? Green beans, kale, zucchini, green peppers, snow peas, and snap peas.

Goodbye, sugar! See you in a few months. Maybe.
