Shameless Plug/Last-Minute Gift: My Book

I don’t talk about Roller Derby and my book here much. The Roller Derby chapters of my life were incredible: fun, exciting, a little bit scary, a lot rock ‘n’ roll. I was a different person then, and without the confidence I gained in Roller Derby, I don’t think I would have been brave enough to go to my first CrossFit Central Bootcamp.

Once upon a time, I was in Penthouse.

From time to time, someone near and dear will remind me that the book I wrote is actually pretty damn good. It tells the story of how I became a Rollergirl (including my close encounter with Social Distortion and teaching Diane Sawyer how to skate on Good Morning America), introduces you to lots of other amazingly cool chicks (think CrossFit girls on wheels), and describes how a bunch of stubborn, motivated women started a sport here in Austin that’s spread around the world.

If you like the writing style of my blog posts, you’ll probably like my book. And many of the “lessons learned” in my transformation from regular girl to Rollergirl are very similar to the monsters we face and the motivation we need to keep showing up at CrossFit workouts.

Amazon is selling Rollergirl: Totally True Tales from the Track for just $6.00 right now. BARGAIN! You can also buy a copy directly from me for $10, skip the shipping, and get an autograph inside and some pretty cool stickers to go along with it. (Just shoot me an email and we’ll work it out.)

I wouldn’t normally pimp my stuff here, but if you know someone who loves being active or needs a little extra motivation to get started on a workout plan, Rollergirl just might inspire them. And you can brag about knowing the author.
