Dave and I spent about six hours playing Rock Band 2 yesterday. Dude! It ruled! We traded off guitar, drums, and vocals while we made a name for ourselves in Austin, then graduated to San Francisco and L.A. By the time we turned off the XBox to go to see Watchmen (Don’t do it; it sucks. A lot.), we’d been sponsored by Hot Topic, won a 1975 van in a “Battle of the Vans,” and earned a manager. We named our band Gibbs, and my doppleganger looks remarkably like me. Fun!

As always, Monday morning came just a little too soon. The workout for the co-ed class looked awful/awesome – deadlifts, overhead squats, and burpees – but our Women’s CrossFit workout turned out be to just as tasty.

10 – 9 – 8 – 7 – 6 – 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 reps:

  • dips (parallettes, feet on ball)
  • pushups
  • pullups
  • 200m run

Carey called time at 26 minutes, and I’d finished all but my last 200m run.

I was slow on the pullups during the early rounds because I challenged myself to use the thin blue band (instead of the wider green one I usually use). By round 5, I’d finally gotten the knack for kipping, and they went much faster and easier. I was sailing over the bar on the last rounds! A few more months of that blue band, and I’ll be ready to go solo. Woot!
