Convictions and Goals and Knowing Oneself

Sigh.

Why’s it gotta be so hard sometimes?

I know I’m happiest when I eat right, get plenty of sleep, and do my CrossFit training.

But life is tempting, isn’t it?

“Come have drinks.”

“Want to go out to dinner?”

“Let’s go see that band!”

Sometimes it seems that my personal happiness is at odds with things that I think are fun to do.

Happy = go to bed early
Fun = stay up late to hang out with my bandmates

Happy = get up early and workout
Fun = sleep in then eat breakfast tacos

Happy = be strong in my convictions
Fun = throw caution to the wind

I’m clinging to the idea of the hard routine with my fingernails today, people. The temptation to have fun is battling my desire to be happy. I know I’d rather be happy, but that doesn’t make the decisions any easier.

[pouting]

I’m missing our Karaoke Apocalypse show and band photo shoot at the Beauty Bar tonight so I can get a good night’s sleep and wake up early to do my workouts (in the cold and dark, I might add [in a petulant tone].)

But as a wise CrossFitter once said, “There is value in not getting everything you want.”

And I’m going to the Karaoke Apocalypse show on Saturday — which is the day I become a Lifetime member of Weight Watchers! (And is also the day after the 17-year anniversary of the first time Dave and I kissed.)

So that’s all good stuff… both HAPPY and FUN.

But I’m still pouting. And might continue to do so until I place my head on the pillow tonight.

I hope you aren’t still pouting?! It doesn’t matter if you miss a workout (or eat too much cheese) because you will still be our CrossFit Rockstar!

We know you will just kick twice as much butt the next day!

Congrats on becoming a lifetime member!
