Crystal McReynolds = Best Quality Human

CrossFit Central programs are officially over for the year, but Coach Crystal offered to hold Bootcamp today and tomorrow for a drop-in fee if at least two of us would commit to showing up. As much as I wanted to sleep in this morning and indulge in holidayness and stay up late and eat cookies and dream of sugarplums and eat bacon for breakfast and….

I know that I need to stick to my routine until Christmas Eve — and get right back on it on December 26, or I will surely pay the consequences. And I don’t want to undo damage caused by too many cookies. I want to continue to celebrate my success this year.

So I commited to Bootcamp this morning. And even though it was only 29 degrees… TWENTY NINE DEGREES, people… I pulled into the parking lot at 6:30 on the nose, ready for whatever Crystal had dreamt up.

But I was the only client whowas more afraid of Christmas cookies than the cold. And even though we all know Crystal is awesome, here’s the proof:

When I told her she didn’t have to train me because her minimum requirement was TWO people and only I was there, she insisted on doing a workout. I offered one more time, just to be sure, but she didn’t budge. Before I could whine about the cold too much, I was sweaty from squats and pushups and rotations and the run ladder.

3 rounds:

  • 10 squat clean, 15-lb. dumbbells
  • 12 burpees
  • 15 snatch, PVC pipe
  • sprint

20 double-unders (or, more accurately, attempted double-unders)

2 rounds:

  • 15 med ball slams, 10-lb. ball
  • plank on ball + 10 side extension
  • 10 broad jumps

Thank you, Crystal, for hanging out in the cold and dark to encourage and coach me through my workout.

You two ladies are bad ass. Getting up that early, that cold and cranking out an awesome WOD makes me realize…I’m still the newbie. 🙂
