Cough 1 – Mel 0

I made it all the way to 4:00 a.m. before my middle of the night coughing fit. Then fell back to sleep until the alarm went off — and then I feel right back to sleep again.

Gah! I NEVER sleep through my alarm. And I can count on one hand the times I’ve gotten dressed for a workout then bailed on it.

I straggled back to consciousness, fighting my body’s desire to sink back into sleep, and had a somewhat lengthly debate with myself (and Dave) that ended in me strapping myself into heart rate monitor, workout bra, running skirt, and tank. Pillow, be damned!

I drank some water, took Catalyst… and plopped down on the bench in the kitchen. Coughing.

And here I sit.

Dave just left for the hike and bike trail, and I’m trying to take his advice to “embrace resting.”

So… a cup of tea, Zone breakfast, New York Times crossword.

Tomorrow is another day.

    Hi Mel,
What do you eat for breakfast? I’m trying to embrace the zone but don’t like eggs.

I eat the same thing every weekday morning, and I love it. But it might sound weird at first. This is a 3-block Zone meal:

    – 1 oz. chicken, turkey, or lean pork
    – 9 almonds
    – 1/2 cup blueberries with 1/4 cup Fiber One cereal, and 1 cup 1% milk

When I’m feeling like I want a change, I substitute this:

    – 1 slice whole grain toast w/ avocado and 2 oz. chicken or turkey
    – 1 cup 1% milk
