What a Weekend, Or… Why My Legs Hurt Today

Saturday adventures…

8:00 a.m. – Weight Watchers weigh-in
It bears repeating: Down another three pounds which means I have only 3.2 pounds to my Weight Watchers goal. I lost a total of 44.4. Woohoo!

8:30 a.m. – CrossFit Central UTB Workout
Over the last few months, the crowd at the UTB has ballooned to more than 90 people each time — and that presented a few logistical challenges for the coaches. This month, they figured it out and we got our asses kicked on Saturday.

The workout
Tabatas: each exercise, 4 rounds, 20 seconds of work/10 seconds recovery

  • squats
  • pushups
  • hill sprints
  • burpees

2 rounds, 45 seconds each station

  • parallets swing-thru
  • kettlebell swing, 12k kettlebell (that’s 26.4 lbs.)
  • medicine ball slams, 6-lb. ball
  • jump squats

9:45 a.m. – Maudie’s
I’m not too proud to say that I followed up that awesome workout with a very indulgent breakfast: chips & salsa, coffe, and two tortillas stuffed with eggs scrambled with crumbled pork tamales and cheese. That is so wrong — and it tasted so good.

11:00 a.m. – Marshall’s
I’m not exaggerating: I tried on 31 tops in an attempt to have something new to wear Saturday night. I bought two. And I didn’t wear either of them dancing. Meh.

8:00 p.m. – My house
The girls (and one boy!) arrived for pre-dancing cocktails, and then we hit the town for some booty-shaking. I will not divulge specifics about alcohol consumption or locations here, but suffice it to say my tolerance is not what it used to be and my new jeans inspired advanced levels of shimmying. Carey and I finished the night with a 10-pushup contest just after last call.

3:00 a.m. – My bed
Deep, deep sleep… without washing my face or brushing my teeth. Yep, it was that kind of night.
