CrossFit Games

This weekend was the national CrossFit Games, and my CrossFit Central (super)heroes competed — and kicked ass. Jeremy Thiel placed third overall! (There were 196 male and 91 female competitors. Way to represent, ladies.) [Top female CrossFitters for 2008: Caity Matter, Tanya Wagner, and Gillian Mounsey. Top male CrossFitters for 2008: Jason Khalipa, Josh Everett, and Jeremy Thiel. See all results.]

The workouts look significantly less fun than what I get to do at Bootcamp.

Day 1

3 rounds, 21-15- 9 reps, for time:
95 pound Thruster (65 pound for women)
Pull-ups (chest must hit the bar to count)

5 rounds for time:
275 pound Deadlifts, 5 reps (185 pounds for women)
10 Burpees (with clap overhead while airborne)

Run 750m steep trail

The start time for each stage of the workout was four hours after the previous start.

That was Day 1.

Day 2:

30 reps: 155 pound Squat Clean and Jerk

I mean, yuck.

Jeremy finished Day 1 in 11th place and then KILLED it on Sunday to finish third.

And the rest of the CrossFit Central crew were superstars, too:

Lisa Bender – 27th Place (of 91)
Crystal McReynolds – 32nd Place
Michael Gregory – 51st Place (of 196)
Lance Cantu – 60th Place
Zachary Thiel – 78th Place
Kris Kepler – 136th Place
Richard White – 189th Place
