Our New Project: Strong Sense of Place
My new project is taking all of my attention right now, and I'd love for you to join me for new adventures! It's called Strong...
Read MoreIt took approximately 5 days, one lunch at Habanero (sans tortilla chips), 3 sessions of hide-and-seek with Smudge, 2 pots of decaf coffee, one middle-of-the-day movie break, and 17 dino-chow meals, but Dave and I did it! We launched the new version of The Clothes Make The Girl. I hope you it!
One of my primary goals was to make it easier for you to find recipes, so there’s nifty navigation at the top that lets you either see a big ol’ list of all the recipes, or browse them by category. As I take photos for the cookbook (coming in November, I hope!), the site will be updated with new images! And new recipes! And more kitchen how-to info!
I updated my About page to tell you more about me (Can I get a little more me in here?), and I added a cheat sheet about the people who show up in my stories most days of the week so you can keep everybody straight.
The Resources page is a list of the blogs I turn to for advice, information, and inspiration.
Eventually the Store will include my cookbook (!!!), tshirts, stickers, and other goodies. For now, it’s a collection of stuff I consider essential for a successful kitchen and happy life.
Fave Posts is a collection of entries that either (a) got a big response from you or (b) that I really enjoyed writing. Be sure to let me know if you think I included something bone-headed or if you have a favorite I missed.
Finally, we’ve created two separate RSS feeds – one for the entire blog and one just for recipes. It’s hard to imagine, but some people just want the food without the Smupdates!
If you subscribed to the RSS feed on my old site, you’ll need to subscribe to the new RSS feed here. Do it now so you’ll never miss a new post!
Poke around, kick the tires, and let me know what you think. I would be very grateful if you let me know if you find anything amiss.
Thanks for hanging out with me here; I’m super excited about Cookbook Production Summer™ and sharing new stuff with you!

Lovely!! And now I can actually comment (wasn’t working before for some reason). 🙂
Hey, everyone! Thanks so much for your sweet words. I’m really glad you like it. Last night, I was sweatin’ it a little bit, wondering if the new organization was going to work for you.
YAY! Now I can relax and drink a cup of decaf and eat some breakfat. Whew.

Love the new site- really love that there is a littel kettlebell icon on the tab …. Your site is one I open every day when I get to work! Gotta check out what is going on 🙂 (ps- good job on getting more comfortable on handstands! I totally have that same fear of falling on something/someone)
Wow! Your new site is a total home run! The revamped “About”‘ the Store (next stop Amazon for books and music), Meet the Peeps, being able to see just Smupdates, the recipe access — all awesome. And the pages load so much faster! Congratulations — Job Well Done!
Congrats!
Blake! We need to eat some dino-chow together. Soon. It’s been WAY, WAY too long.
Angie –> That little kettlebell was all Dave’s idea. Pretty genius, right? And thanks for the handstand kudos. I seriously strut like a puffed up peacock every time I do one.
Ehsa –> Glad you like it! That photo of Smudge was especially for you 😉
Looks great Mel! I love it. Nice job!
congrads..this is a biggggg step up..love the new look
Mel, this is an awesome site update! I’d be lost without your comments and recipes. And you have turned me on to so many other great resources as well. Looking forward to the cookbook!
Love the new site! The organization is great and the design is kicking!
OK. So it’s taking a bit of getting used to, but WHOA am I glad you’re back! The more I browse, the more I like. Well done!!
HOORAY! I’m glad y’all like it. I hope to keep making it better and better.
Kelly –> I’ve still getting used to the new design, too. I used my old blog as my own recipe database, so I’m, like, “Wait. Where did I put that in the new site?” But it’s becoming more familiar.
Mel!!!
This stinks. Here you’ve got this great new site but for some stupid reason I can’t view it from work any more. Oh well, I get I need to be productive anyway. ;(
