Our New Project: Strong Sense of Place
My new project is taking all of my attention right now, and I'd love for you to join me for new adventures! It's called Strong...
Read MoreThis week marked the one-year anniversary of the publication of Well Fed. Can you even?!
It’s been a wonderful, crazy, challenging, celebratory 12 months since Well Fed traveled from our kitchen to yours. We launched the cookbook; I resigned from my full-time corporate job; we took a trip to Philadelphia for a book signing; I participated in PaleoFX and a kickass Paleo workshop in Colorado and taught cooking classes at Whole Foods; we won The Homie Award for Best Healthy Cooking Blog, were finalists in the 2012 Next Generation Indie Book Awards, and won at the San Francisco Book Awards. donated $3400 to Common Threads (because of your awesomeness); and wrote Living Paleo For Dummies and contributed the Meal Map to the New York Times Best Seller It Starts With Food. (Lest you think it was all success, do you remember when I tried to fry an egg on the street?!)
If I had to sum up 2012 in one word? Gratitude. (And if I get a second word, I choose Sunbutter.)
Thank you to all of my blog readers, new friends, old friends, and people I’ve never met (!) who supported us by buying Well Fed. It means so much to us to know that you’re eating the same recipes we eat, feeding your body and spirit with real food that makes you happy. To date, we’ve sold 49,763 copies of the book (and we’ve been in the top 100 cookbooks on Amazon for 338 days, and we have 239 5-star reviews!) — I’m overwhelmed and so very grateful.
Thank you to all of the blog writers out there who took the time to read and review Well Fed — or invited me to talk on a podcast or an interview to help spread the word about our cookbook. It’s lovely to feel like part of this vibrant community, and I’m humbled by the generous support we received. You can read all of the reviews of Well Fed here in this massive list.
Thank you to cooler-than-the-average doctors and retailers who bust away from the norm and stock Well Fed, like Dr. Sebring, Whole Foods, Peoples Pharmacy, Book People, and other independent bookshops and cooking stores across the country.
Thank you to Melissa and Dallas Hartwig of Whole9 for providing inspiration in the form of the Whole30. Their program changed my life in countless ways and was the magic that lured me to the kitchen to experiment. The recipes in Well Fed are a direct result of the Whole30 guidelines; who says eating clean is boring?
UPDATE 12/19/12: The giveaway is now closed and the winners have been notified. (YAY, Annette H. and Tom R!) Thank you, everyone, for your support and lovely comments!
To thank you for your tremendous support, I’d like to invite you all to a giant dinner party in my backyard. But in lieu of that, we’ve put together two big prize packages of some gadgets and flavorful goodies we hope will make your time in the kitchen even easier and tastier. It’s a tiny token of our appreciation for each and every one of you.

So easy! Leave a comment on this post and tell us what your favorite Well Fed recipe is and why. (If you haven’t cooked from Well Fed yet, take a look at the Table of Contents and tell us which recipe sounds like a winner to you.)
Deadline to enter: 11:59 p.m. Central on Tuesday, December 18, 2012. I’ll randomly select two winners and announce them on December 18.
Restrictions: Drawing open only to U.S. residents. Sorry, international friends!
Dave busted out the tripod and remote control for the camera to take photos of our Smudge Publishing staff, a.k.a., Dave, Smudge, and me. This is me saying, “What the hell are you doing?!” (The facial expressions and body language are pretty typical for both of us.)
And this is our attempt to get Smudge in on the photo action. Surprisingly, she has no complaints about wearing costumes and accessories (note that stylin’ bow tie), but she does not enjoy being held, as you can see from the grumpy expression on her sweet kitty face.

Well, my FAVORITE is Sunshine Sauce, because it is good on everything. Truthfully, though, I love the book and ALL the recipes. I haven’t found one yet that I DON’T like.
Moroccan meatballs (served over yellow squash “spaghetti” (a take-off on your zucchini noodles). I make this once a week and eat the leftovers for breakfast.
I love this cookbook! My favorite recipe…Homemade Mayo! Good-bye “Best Foods”! Even my daughter, who isn’t pure Paleo, loves it! I can’t wait to try the Chocolate Chili!
I love the chocolate chili! It’s my standard chili recipe now, after a lifetime of chili with beans. Cocoa powder has always been my secret ingredient for chili; I love that your recipe OWNS it!
It *has* to be the Velvety Butternut Squash. Easily the best compromise dish for paleo me and my vegetarian sweetie. Since she’s gluten-free as well, we have a lot of cross-over dishes.
Well Fed has helped us immensely, since the veggie dishes are often vegetarian (or can be tweaked to be vegetarian). My sweetie initially had a small freak-out when I started going down the paleo path, but with your help we’ve totally stayed on top of it. Example: Tonight I’m making Silky Zucchini Soup (subbing out the chicken stock for veggie stock), a steak for me, and tempeh for the sweetie. Thanks a bajillion, Mel!
Wow, awesome giveaway! I could use all these things in my kitchen. 🙂
“The Best Chicken You Will Ever Eat” sounds intriguing. And Scotch Eggs (LOTS OF VARIATIONS!)… yes please!
Congratulations! The Caramelized Coconut Chips…so simple, easy, and delicious.
We have to pick just ONE? Well Fed is without hesitation my MOST favorite cookbook. Your recipes have delighted my family of 5 since day one. I never liked mayonnaise until I discovered your version, so that’s my favorite (and you were right- it doesn’t last long enough to worry about the expiration date). My kids vote for Meatza, our Friday night staple. And my West Texan husband loves your unique spin on chili! So I guess that’s three votes from my household. But just know- ALL your recipes have been winners here!! We are just sending out a BIG Texas sized thank you to you and Dave and Smudge for making our Paleo world ROCK!! We can’t wait for cookbook number 2!
Rogan Josh…I’ve made it 3 times already!
I have cooked at least half of the recipes so far and haven’t found one yet I didn’t like! If I have to pick a favorite, I guess it is Creamy Spice Market Kale, because it makes my twin three year olds ask for seconds.
Melissa, we eat paleo pad thai every single week in our house! Thank you so much for providing great recipes and making paleo such an easy switch! 🙂
I actually did the whole 30 in August and did make the walnut and basil pesto, so that would be favorite!
the best chicken you will ever eat. it really is!
While I don’t have Well Fed (yet), the recipe I’m itching to try is the Chocolate Chili.
The fried apples make me swoon, slurp and drool!
I love the home made mayo and all the salad dressing variations. Well, i just love the book! Thank you so much and we look forward to your next book.
The Chocolate Chili and Sunshine Sauce are two top favorites. Can’t beat it! 🙂
Chocolate chili. It is cheap, delicious, and makes lots of leftovers. Non-paleo people love it. But I have yet to make any of your recipes that wasn’t uber-tasty! Love it and love you!
I have asked for this cookbook for Christmas, so I’ll have it soon! I can’t wait for the Egg Foo Yung recipe!!
Czech Meatballs!
I haven’t had your book for very long but I am so thankful for your mayo recipe. It is delicious!
Your chocolate chili and the best chicken you will ever eat are family faves here!
My favorite thing I’ve fed to nonPaleoers is the crisp (which they loved!) but my favorite thing overall and that I struggle with sharing is the pad Thai!
I love the Moroccan Meatballs!
Bora Bora Fireballs because combining pork, pineapple and coconut puts three of my favorite foods together into something that tastes amazing and is actually really healthy!
Just one?! The Czech Meatballs. But we LIVE on the Chocolate Chili and there is always Paleo Mayo in the fridge.
Waldorf tuna salad. Omg I love tuna so much and I have been eating this variation 3x a week for breakfast (weird I know) for like 4 months. Amazing!!!
I have the e version of your book, which I love! I adore the chocolate chili and the sunshine sauce, and so much more!
I haven’t gotten Well Fed yet, but its not my fault, funding is limited! You have a Pad Thai recipe??!?!! I have to get the book just for that.
Love your pictures! My fav recipe so far is Chocolate Chili. Thanks so much for what you do and this great giveaway!
What an awesome and generous giveaway, thank you! My favorite recipe is a tie…pad thai and moroccan meatballs. Both are incredibly delicious and make it a piece of cake for me to eat healthy throughout the work week!
I am 18 days into my first Whole30, and first attempt at paleo anything, and your caramelized coconut chips were the start of it all! So they are my favorite recipe from Well Fed, because honestly it feels like this is saving my life. I also had some leftover chocolate chili today for lunch and my gosh, so good as leftovers. Plus two coworkers asked for a taste 🙂
Congrats!! Chocolate Chili!!:)
I love the sunshine sauce. My kids love it too. There is nothing they not eat when I give them some Sunshine Sauce to dip in. Thanks!
I would love to make your Scotch eggs!
Wow, that’s a tough question. Chocolate Chili, Moroccan dipping sauce, grilled chicken breasts…Everything I’ve made is awesome. I purchased the eBook and need to buy the paper book now. Love everything and all the recipes. I’m slowly working my way through and can’t wait for the 2nd Volume.
I have tried ~ 50% of the recipes in your wonderful book and have enjoyed them all but if there was one I could not live without it would be Sunshine Sauce:) thank you for making food taste so good!
Since i have to go with just 1 recipe: chocolate chili ftw! I make at least 1 recipe from the book every weekend & take leftovers to work. Then have to answer all the coworkers who demand to know what smells so awesome.
I’m a condiment person. Seeing mayo and avocado salad dressing and more in Well Fed was comforting to see. Just got the book last week and I am prepping up for this weekend and getting the meals for the week. Very happy you guys did this book. Really a game changer. Thanks for sharing this with the world.
My favorite part of the book is not a recipe but it is your own personal stories about how you “learned just to eat” and “how you can do that”. Being able to move people emotionally is an amazing talent as well as cooking amazing dishes! But, since the “rules” say pick a recipe, I will pick “Hot Plates”. You can eat for a month without ever having the same thing twice. Thank you for sharing your love of food and your talent.
I make the homemade mayo almost every week. Thanks for everything
There are so many delicious ones, but my favorite recipe at the moment is Sunshine Sauce. I had to make it two days in a row because it’s soooooo good! Bora bora fireballs are a close second, though. Yum.
Yum! My favorite Well Fed recipe is Zucchini Noodles Aglio Et Olio. I love it because it tastes decadent and rich but is still so healthy I could make it every day without feeling guilty. Also foolproof to make!
BORA BORA FIREBALLS! It has become a regular family favorite. Even my dad, who doesn’t like coconut, loves them! (Close runner’s up: the famous green beans and paleo pad thai). Your cookbook is a permanent fixture in my cookbook stand. 🙂 Happy Holidays and continued success! Aloha
I love when my husband packs scotch eggs in my lunch. So good!
So I’m not going with favorite tasting but FAVORITE SOUNDING…Meatza Pie! My 3 y.o. Daughter loves to rhyme, and I heard her saying “pizza Meatza” the other day. It just made me think of your perfect paleo recipe.
My fiancé makes the chocolate chili for dinner every Sunday. She makes a double batch so we can have it for lunch during the week. We just love it!
I love chocolate chili, best chicken and homemade mayo. I’ll go with those, since they are the ones I make most often. But what I really love is the section on how to cook. Being able to do a big cookup once a week and turn that into tasty meals has really helped me a lot.
The sunshine sauce sounds great!! 🙂
It’s got to be the mayo – seriously cannot live without a batch in my fridge!!
I can’t pick just one! I love The Best Chicken You Will Ever Eat with Moroccan Dipping Sauce for its amazing flavors, Caramelized Coconut Chips for its easy awesomeness, and Homemade Mayo for never letting me down as long as I follow the directions precisely.
Sorry, I can’t choose one. Your citrus carnitas, cold the next day, dipped in sunshine sauce- it just rocks my world.
I love the hot plates. Great ideas to make tons of different meals from basic ingredients. I cook for the guys at work…. Well Fed gives me inspiration every day. They were eating a SAD diet for lunch but now for a few meals a week they are paleo!
I love Well Fed and your blog; I can’t wait for Well Fed II! Well Fed made my first whole 30 (almost) easy! My favorite recipe is Bora Bora Fire balls, although I love them paired with coconut-almond green beans…so technically that’s two. Thanks for all you do and for the opportunity to win!
I have so many favorites it is hard to pick one. Eggplant f’armigan is a weekly staple at our house along with the olive oil mayo and and all of the wonderful things that it produces.
I am so grateful for your cooking skills and your willingness to share with those of us who are less inspired. I am also grateful for your perspective on female body image issues and literature (I loved The Historian and The Night Circus). Best wishes for your continued success!
Sunshine sauce! I love all the different cuisines represented in your recipes. I love pad thai and satay and the Sunshine Sauce…well, it was my gateway. Thanks – you’ve inspired me to break out of my S&P, garlic, onion, cayenne safe place!
Scotch Eggs – they’re perfect for any meal, and they’re portable!
Kudos to you, Melissa for the risks you were bold enough to take. You are an inspiration!
As far as favorite recipe, Hands down (spoons up?)the chocolate chili. I have made it at least half a dozen times over the past year and the leftovers freeze well for delicious lunches when I don’t have the time to chop vegs etc. for the usual salad.
My favorite recipe has been the mayo (and every recipe that includes it!). I’m pretty sure I’ve made a batch every week since owning Well Fed 🙂
Thanks for the great giveaway! I’d love to try the peach almond crisp someday, sounds terrific.
Zucchini noodles and best chicken! Yum yum!!
Chocolate Chili! Everyone in the house loves it and it freezes SO well. Good food that good for us ready in minutes!
I am in love with the cumin roasted carrots. I’ve made them 5 times now and its always a hit! Also, the chocolate chili can never go wrong. Thanks so much!
Just picked up the book two days ago. Thinkin’ the chocolate chili will be our favorite.
My favorite recipe is definitely the meat and spinach muffins. I eat some every day for breakfast with some salsa and guacamole. Yum!
I haven’t disliked a recipe yet. They’ve all been great! I really like the mix of flavors that are completely new to me. Personally, I don’t know what I would do if I was now told that I can never have ras al hanout. This spice blend is my go to for everything you can imagine.
Thanks for the book and the blog.
I love your book! If I chose my faborite it would be the Tex-Mex tuna salad.
I got Well Fed recently, so I’ve still got so many recipes to try! I really liked the mashed cauliflower, and two things I’m drooling over but have yet to make are the Chocolate Chili and the Velvety Butternut Squash. YUM!
I love the sunshine sauce and my Pad Thai hating husband loves yours!
I have yet to try one of your recipes, either from Well Fed or the blog, that didn’t turn out really well. My family would say they like the Chocolate Chili best, but my fave is the mayo. It seems silly that it’s my favorite out of all the yummy recipes to choose from, but I honestly have to hold myself back from eating an entire batch every time I make it!
This is awesome! You are awesome!
Fave recipe is a toss up between chocolate chili and the best chicken you’ll ever eat – both of which I made this week for dinner! So good!
Mashed cauliflower…a simply delicious, light delicacy!!
I would love to make the blue ribbon country captain chicken.
I don’t have your cookbook, but I’ve made your Chocolate Chili several times (from the recipe you posted on your blog). It’s always a hit!
It has got to be either the scotch eggs or the meat and spinach muffins. Portable yummy goodness.
The carnitas are incredible! Well Fed is my go-to cookbook… so many great recipes… close runners-up are Char Siu, chocolate chili and homemade mayo! Congrats on a great year! Can’t wait for Well Fed II.
The chocolate chili sounds amazing!
I want to make the Sunshine Sauce because you are always raving about it!
I’ve been so excited to make the Coconut-almond green beans…and the cumin carrots…and the chocolate chili. Mmmmm
Pork fried f’rice! And chocolate chili….
I have meatza and egg foo young on the list for this week.
I Just got the kindle version and so far I have only made the mayo but this week I’m going to make the pad thai and I’m sure it will be awesome!!
Just got your book, made the Rogan Josh, wow.
I’ve bought your book, Well Fed, for my stepdad for Christmas (though I live with him and my mom, so it’s really a present for me too). I can’t wait to try ALL of your recipes, but I’m most anxious to try the scotch eggs. Sounds like a wonderful variation for breakfast food.
THE SUNSHINE SAUCE. Oh ma gah! I put that stuff on anything and everything 🙂 It is the perfect addition to stir frys, any meat, any seafood. Even my non-paleo boyfriend LOVES it!
So many choices! I think I could narrow it down to 3 favorites – 1) the Citrus Carnitas make the best “have a bunch of people over on a Sunday night and impress them” party meal ever 2) the Scotch Eggs solely for the look of awe on my husbands face when I make them and 3) Blue Ribbon County Captain Chicken so good not matter how many or few of the listed ingredients I have on hand always delicious and great leftovers.
“The best chicken you will ever eat”…how have I made it through 33 years of life without knowing of the magic of brining. Ah-may-zing. Thanks!
Meatza! We love a pork crust with mushrooms, olives, and jalapenos every Friday night. 🙂
Chocolate Chili!! In fact, I was just thinking of making some this weekend 😉
I love the Moroccan Meatballs and the Creamy Kale! Also, I’m planning on making the Bora Bora Fireballs for the first time soon.
Sunshine sauce!
Follow up – especially like it on skirt steak, red pepper, broccoli stir-fry.
I love the mayo! To have mayo and still eat paleo improved my life a solid 30%.
I love Well Fed! It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I would say Italian Sausage and Eggplant Strata. I get a lot of eggplant when in season via my CSA and it is delicious in this recipe!
The chocolate chili is my first and still favorite recipe out of Well Fed. It also convinced my boyfriend that he would survive eating paleo.
I love the cauliflower mash! It blows my mind every time I make it for four reasons: how easy it is to make, how freaking good it is, how healthy it is, the faces people make when I tell people they’re eating cauliflower and not potatoes is awesomely hilarious.
I love love love love love your chocolate chili. Why? Because it is the most amazingly delicious chili I have ever eaten! I love it so much I have told everyone I know about it and I am giving a package of homemade spice blend — and copies of the movies “Chocolat” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” for a Johnny Depp dinner-and-a-movie double feature, an idea inspired your blog of holiday gift-giving ideas — to family for Christmas with a copy of your free sample pdf of WellFed so they have the recipe (and maybe buy your cookbook if eating paleo appeals to them). I’m even wrapping the gifts including a Hershey’s ceramic ice cream bowl (www.HERSHEYSSTORE.com), which is the perfect size for a yummy bowl of chocolate chili. Honestly, I have never been so excited about cooking in my life! So Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
I got the book not long ago. I really want to try the chocolate beef chili.
That’s tough to answer; but I’d have to say creamy market kale…and anything with el ras hanout!
It’s on my Christmas list and I’m really hoping to find it under the tree this year! If not, then I’m def. going to have buy it for myself! The Cinnamon Beef Stew with Orange Gremolata sounds wonderful.
Admittedly, I’ve not yet acquired a copy of the book (although I was going to get two of them this week, so I could give one to my mom), but I’ve tried a few of the recipes on your blog. The velvety butternut squash is amazing! The first time I tried it I thought to myself, “This is a mistake: it’s not a side, it’s a dessert!”
I have to change my answer! I just tried the chocolate chili last night, and ate myself into a stupor.
Chocolate chili was the first paleo recipe my non-paleo husband raved about.
Olive Oil Mayo — In my early non-paleo life, I always loved mayo. While others dipped fries in ketchup, I dipped mine in the delicious white creamy melt in mouth yumminess that is mayo. Then I went ahead and started adding it to all non-sweet foods. In my post paleo life, I searched all stores and websites for mayo without canola or soy and it was impossible to find!!! I longed for mayo. Then I found your awesome and easy recipe and life is complete again. 🙂
Love the meatz Pizza :). Ive been successfully eating dairy free for almost a year and Paleo for 6 months!! My friends and family still ask me when im going to “quit”. My response….”Its apart of my life now”.
The Greek cinnamon beef stew is just fantastic. Every time!
I love the olive oil mayo recipe and suggestions for using it. Now I can make my own dressing, know what I am eating and enjoy a good salad or coleslaw. Thank you for so many great recipes!
Greek broccoli!
Definitely the best chicken you will ever eat! We make it almost every Sunday. 🙂
Jicama potato salad and sunshine sauce are favorites!
My favorites are the meatballs, all styles. Although I like the nori chips, and the coconut chips, and on and on.
If I was forced to pick one recipe, then it would have to be the chocolate chili…or maybe the Lamb Rogan Josh…or maybe Paleo Pad Thai.
Nope. If forced, I am picking mayonnaise. You made it so freaking easy it gave me the guts to try it myself and I love.that.stuff!
Congrats on all of your successes in 2012. I look forward to book #2!
Cauliflower rice pilaf!!! Becoming a staple at my house – though why sometimes it tastes more cauliflowery than others is still a mystery… (having to do with the plant I imagine)
The Coconut Almond Green beans have been in regular rotation since Well Fed landed in my mailbox. Veggies are a hard sell in my house (sob!) so I am grateful to have a dish that is well received every time I make it! It was also a hit at my extended family Thanksgiving dinner – lots of compliments, and I knew that if nothing else I could fill my plate with turkey and green beans and all would end well!
The BBQ pork fried rice sounds amazing! I’m hoping to get Well Fed as a Christmas present and if I don’t, then I’m planning on just getting it for myself 🙂
Pad Thai!! Thanks for giving our family the gift of zucchini noodles, olive oil mayo and sunshine sauce. Looking forward to WellFed II
Your Chocolate Chili is always a hit in this house! I make it with Ground Beef Plus, a blend of 70% ground beef, 20% ground heart and 10% ground liver that I buy from a local grass-fed beef rancher.
I also want to say that I love reading your blog. We are “of an age”, as they say, and I seem to relate to a lot of your stories. Thank you for doing what you do!
The chocolate chili, but still so many to try. The shepherd’s pie is looking good on this cold dark and drizzly night.
The Chocolate Chilli sounds amazing. Perfect for a cold night in!
So far it’s the Chocolate Chili! LOVE it! easy to make and delicious, and can pair it with so many things!
The Weekly Cookup has changed my life! Making hotplates is a fabulous way to make a hot dinner every night. Favorite so far is Chinese grilled chicken with Best Stir Fry Sauce Ever and veggies.
Cocoa-toasted cauliflower! If you haven’t tried it yet, it’s better than you can ever imagine. Amazing with grilled steak, among other things.
Chocolate chili! I have some grass-fed ground beef thawing in the fridge as I type.
Love love love the citrus carnitas, middle eastern mayo dressing, and Turkish salad. Always a winning combo!
My favorite recipe is the mayo, simplicity at it’s best. I reference that every time I make it and have linked to your recipe and directions a number of times on my own blog!
Bora Bora Fireballs are a weekly favorite. Any recipe I make and take to work for lunch I always have to bring extra for others to try. No one has been disappointed and slowly some are being converted to eating real food rather than “cardboard” meals.
Hi Melissa! I’m currently working on a Paleo Backpacking website and am testing out a bunch of different types of meatballs for the trail. Your Moroccan Meatballs and Czech Meatballs are at the top of the list! If they hold up well on the trail I would love to post a link back to your recipes if that’s OK. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love the mayo but I’m also really excited about the Meatza Pie!
The cocoa toasted cauliflower is just terrific. That recipe is how I found you. But obviously I’m going to have to try the Chocolate Chili and Sunshine sauce after reaching these entries. I’ve only had the cookbook a short time, and there’s a long list of recipes I want to try. The Char Siu sounds amazing, and Chinese BBQ pork has long been a favorite. I was also thrilled to find out how to deal with spaghetti squash!
I haven’t made any recipes yet (I just found your site yesterday), but I watched your video for the Olive Oil mayo and just got back from buying the ingredients I need. I will be making it within the hour!! Every single one of the recipes look incredible though and I really hope I win the cookbook!!!!
Chocolate chili, all the way.
definitely pad thai and/or anything with sunshine sauce!!
Creamy Spice Market Kale because I have never tried Kale and since being diagnosed with cancer this year I am always looking for new ways to make good for me super food!!! I can’t wait to get your book and try all of the recipes! The cookbook looks fabulous!!!
I made my first recipe tonight…. Fouscous! Yummy loved it, could totally eat it by itself.
I’ve only made the pad thai but I asked for your book for Christmas – I LOVED the pad thai!
I can’t live without the homemade mayo. It’s a starting point or standby for so many meals. I can’t live without it!
I have no made it yet but Czech meatballs look amazing!
Thank you, Mel. Big fan of the site and the book. Only one I’ve ever even considered buying. Chocolate chili is boo-yah.
Best wishes, thoughts and prayers to you and Dave this holiday season and into the new year.
My fave recipe thus far is the shepherds pie. I’ve made it with several types of meat…and it’s awesome every time. Thanks for the goodness your recipes bring to my life!
I haven’t gotten the book yet (maybe for Christmas!), but i’m really excited to make the various condiments and sauces!
I’m hoping to find the cookbook under my tree for Christmas…unless I win!! I’m excited to try so many recipes, but the one that’s really intriguing me is the Chocolate Chili. Thanks for all you do!
I’d like to try the Pad Thai. I’ve just recently been introduced to the Paleo diet and would like to move in that direction. Thanks.
Chocolate Chilli!!
Maki rolls sound delish, but I just got some coconut flakes, so caramelized coconut chips will be first on my list of cooking adventures.
Happy Holidays Mel, Dave & Smudge! My 2 favorite recipes are the Bora Bora Fireballs and the Chocolate Chili! I could eat the chili and the fireballs everyday. Thank you:)
My fave is the Pad Thai – I could eat it every day and not get tired of it.
The one I use most often, though, is the sauce from the Egg Foo Yung recipe. It makes a great dip for veggies.
Oh, but in order to make that, I need to make your Olive Oil Mayo, which I make every other week or so.
OK, I’ll stop now. Happy holidays!
My very favourite is Sunshine Sauce. No, it’s actually Shepherd’s Pie! Well really, the Bora Bora Fireballs are amazing! Oh yeah, almost forgot about Chocolate Chili! Oh, but the Cinnamon Beef Stew is a taste sensation. I make regular batches of Mayo as well, so does that count? Oh damn you, Mel! Why did you have to make this contest so HARD?! Truthfully my favourite cookbook EVER! It’s actually falling apart from overuse! Also, I put an autographed copy on my Christmas list!!! I am so looking forward to Well Fed 2! Love you!
Morroccan meat balls are my favorite!! They’re so yummy! I can’t get enough!!!
I have made a lot of the recipes already but the next one I have my eyes on is the Morroccan meatballs!
I would pick either the Chocolate Chili or Sunshine Sauce as my favorites. But there are so many recipes I love! Reading your method for making hot plates really made eating Paleo long term seem realistic for me and my husband. Thanks!
Put me in for caramelized coconut chips.
A healthy snack that everyone can have-including my son (who is on the modified atkins diet for seizures).
Sesame nori chips rock for this too-good vitamins and minerals w/o the carbs!
I’m going with the Shepherd’s Pie…it is comforting, can be eaten for many meals and just hits the spot. I also love a dish which incorporates all the protein and veggies together, so with the cauli mash on top and some fresh veggies sprinkled in with the meat (I’ve used lamb and beef), it’s just a slice of heaven! I still have many more recipes to try but have probably made one-third so far. It’s been one of the funnest parts of 2012 for me!
I LOVE the book–zucchini “noodles” and the garlic browned ground beef–they have been the foundation of so many good meals. (never thought I would be borrowing the phrase “party in my mouth” but it is a good description.) What I love the most about the book is your detailed instructions and the variations which give so many more recipes. Great work!!
P.S. Reading the comments of other favorites make me know there are more treasures to be discovered in this book. Love that your roots were rural PA like me!! Was fun to read the foreword.
To pick only one of all the amazing Well Fed recipes is hard but I think I would have to say the first one I tried, the chocolate chilli. Thanks for introducing paleo to me in a way I could understand and not be intimidated to jump right in, feet first! Thank you Mel, Dave and Smudge!
The peach almond crisp sounds divine!
Velvet Butternut squash is our FAVORITE. I don’t have the book yet (been hinting for Christmas). I tried it off the site and am in LOVE with it. The entire family loved it. My sister is vegetarian, so for thanksgiving we whipped this up. She loved it too. Can’t wait to get the book!
The olive oil mayo has become a staple and a lifesaver in a pinch. I make it in the full size food processor and have used avocado oil and bacon fat to complete the fat ratios- amazing flavor!
Well – I made the Chocolate Chili, but I got the recipe from your website and not the book – actually came to your website today to find out more about buying the book – my Xmas gift to myself. Then I saw the post about it being the anniversary and the giveaway! Congratulations – I’ve used several of your recipes from your website and love them all. You have made the transition to a Paleo life easy and DELICIOUS!
well, dang it – got so excited and went ahead and ordered the cookbook on Amazon – but a second, signed copy would be perfect, and I can give the 2nd as a gift! And a food proceesor would be delightful so as to avoid processed food! Also, thanks for the review of The Historian – looking that up at the library right now!
SUNSHINE SAUCE – made my first batch and it was just as beautifully tasty like the picture in the book portrayed….
L-O-V-E SUNSHINE.
Chocolate Chili!!! Hands down favorite. Yum!
Pad Thai sounds delicious.
I can’t get enough of the chocolate chili!!! It is super easy to make a double batch on the weekend (every weekend) and use as leftovers for ANY meal for the rest of the week. It’s complex flavor intensifies in the fridge and pairs well with many sides (love it with cauliflower). The best part is the ease in which it can be altered and experimented with for introducing other veggies into it (shredded carrots for picky eaters or mushrooms taste great too!!!). It never gets old!
Favorite recipe… the chili. Or at least that is the one that gets the most use 🙂 I made it for my husband and now *HE* offers to make it all the time! Yay!
I made the pad thai once… it was yummmmm but pretty work intensive. And I think I need a bigger skillet, heh. – Oh, and the sunshine sauce (for the pad thai) – how long do you think that keeps?
Your mayo recipe is spot on! Made almost weekly here at our home. Congrats on your success =) xo
I love the chocolate chili!
So hard to choose. If I have to pick one favorite, then I guess It’s Sunshine Sauce. So wonderful! Love the whole cookbook!
Just discovered “Well Fed”, thanks to my husband, and am gearing up for my first attempt at a oookup today!
Absolutely love the “best chicken you’ll ever eat” with the moroccan dipping sauce. Made it for some friends who also declared is the best chicken ever 🙂 Love every single recipe I’ve made – one of only 3 staple cookbooks I use now!
It’s a tie between the Best Chicken You’ll Ever Eat and the Pad Thai. I haven’t tried a single recipe from Well Fed that wasn’t super yummy, though!
I am forever indebted to you for the Rogan Josh recipe. I’m amazed at just how wonderful it is (along with some mashed cauliflower of course).
Chocolate chili is the best. Second place favorite are the pork carnitas! Your cookbook gets the use in this house!
It’s worth a try. I love your cauliflower soup!!!! Not in well fed but still my favorite recipe of yours. The chocolate chili is a close second. Thanks for all your inspiration! You are a very beautiful person!
I love the Olive Oil Mayo! You can use it in so many things!!!
Easy answer: Chocolate Chili! It’s a smash hit at my home for all paleo and non-paleo eaters alike.
Cheers to many more years of awesome goodies from y’all!
Although the chocolate chili is fantastic, my favorite is the rogan josh, love it when the spices hit the fat, savory indian flavors make my mouth water typing
i’ve made several recipes from Well Fed, all yummy, but my absolute favorite was also a “duh!” no brainer when I discovered whipped cream from coconut milk.
i love that stuff!
Mayo…yum!
I have the cookbook but have not made anything yet. I am excited to make the pad thai.
Wow. It’s hard to choose only one. Your chocolate chili is the bomb! and the egg foo yong is a kid favorite in the house. But I think I’m going to have to go with the Sunshine sauce. I put it on everything from your pad thai recipe to scrambled eggs to even dipping my roasted veggies in it. SOOOOOO GOOOOOODDD!
The mayo is awesome and oh, so easy. Can’t wait to try the chocolate chili! Giving a copy of Well Fed to my daughter for Christmas.
The Chocolate Chili is sooooo good! Especially this time of year. AND, since buying the book back in the spring, I’ve made your mayo weekly (or biweekly if I double the recipe!)! I love everything – the butternut squash is divine, too – so, basically my favorite recipe is ALL OF THEN! WTG Smudge Publishing!!!!
If I had to choose one, it would be the coconut chips toasted with salt and cinnamon. I make them constantly and find them a perfect substitute for my much missed stove-popped popcorn on movie night. But every single recipe I have tried so far as been excellent! Can’t wait to try them all! Thank you so much!
I’ve made your chocolate chili and loved it! Thank you for all the great work you do; I really like the balance you strike in your blogging between food and non-food posts.
Whoa, almost impossible to just pick one favorite! But if I REALLY had to, I think it would be your Paleo Pad Thai. I think I’m going to have to start making double batches of it, because we NEVER have any left over for me to take to work for lunch the next day!
You should see my copy of “Well Fed.” Soooo grossly, wonderfully stained and used. So, I can say with confidence that my favorite recipe is the Citrus Carnitas. I’ve made them to put in the Paleo Pad Thai with the Sunshine Sauce, and it even lit up my non-Paleo spouse’s face. I think his exact quote was, “This is surprisingly delcious!” I wasn’t surprised. All of your recipes are delicious, and as much as you may be grateful to use for buying, we are grateful to YOU for WRITING!
A couple of months ago I would have said my favorite recipe was the Italian Sausage and eggplant strata. Or the Moroccan Meatballs. Or Pad Thai. Or the carnitas. Truth is I cook out of this cookbook every day. This cookbook convinced me that I could eat paleo for the rest of my life. I recommend it to everyone I know and am giving it as Christmas gifts.
you deserve every ounce of it. Thank you for getting me with “it” when it comes to paleo and whole 30!
I love the chocolate chili! It’s simple, delicious, and excellent comfort food (:
Carnitas!! With chili as a close 2nd.
Chocolate chili and the mayo are my go-tos, but I love them all!
I LOVE the TexMex Tuna salad!
I am at the half way point of my first Whole 30, and I am dying to make your chocolate chili! It’s on my menu this week! 🙂
Everything I’ve made so far has been good, but I especially like your vegetable recipes. Cocoa-Toasted Cauliflower, Cumin-Roasted Carrots and Velvety Butternut Squash are all awesome. Also, I really like Chocolate Chili, its one of my favorite breakfast foods now!
Thank you for sharing your delicious recipes. I have learned so much about cooking great tasting Paleo food from your blog. Tough decision…I chose your chocolate chili. It freezes beautifully and tastes even better the next day.
Moroccan meatballs are one of my favorite dishes of all time!
Your new follower from Syracuse loves the chocolate chili!!! Tried the Dino nuts and love those too. Can’t wait to try the rest of the recipes and learn this way of life.
Pad Thai! Delicious and creamy!
Oh, Melis…..where do I begin……It seems like every other day I am making something new or recommending the cookbook for someone. I finally just made chocolate Chile for my coworker and brought it in for lunch for ALL!
Every time I open my lunchbox, their necks crane.
Most recent (tonight) was Chili Lime shrimp with ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ salad dressed with Southwest Cumin-lime dressing!!Yummo!!-
Zucchini noodles or Zoodles (from NomNom Paleo) are a great side dish with 2T of Rao’s Marinara.
Ok, I need to stop now as you said one but this is how conversations go for me when I get started on ‘Well Fed’.
6 lucky friends are getting the cookbook for the holidays.
Thanks for all you do to keep me Well Fed and creative.
Just made olive oil Mayo and I can hardly keep my head out of the container!
One appreciative Melissa to another!-
Melissa Larsen
I’m pretty sure that I make the cumin-roasted carrots every week. So, by sheer frequency, I think I’ll call it my favorite.
I love Well Fed and just tonight made Czech Meatballs. There are so many other great recipes but I think my favorite is the Olive Oil Mayo. Thanks for everything!
So many good ones….tie between Pad Thai and Pork cauliflower fried rice.
Hello,
i was feeling quite ill yesterday and was in bed all day and was trying out my new kindle.to download something i looked for Paleo recipes and decided on your book. I absolutely love it. I read the whole thing from front to back and when I get home tonight i will buy a paper copy as well. I have not tried out any recipes yet, but found myself drooling over each of them yesterday. I cant wait to start cooking. I absolutely love the idea of having a big cookup. that will make my life so much easier. Thanks so much for writing that book. I wish you and all the readers lovely and safe holidays. Greetings from Australia ( where it is summer at the moment and for me as a German Christmas just feels wrong in the heat)
Czech Meatballs..I had not used caraway seeds in ages! Love, Love, Love 🙂
Your cookbook has changed my life. The icing on the cake was getting to meet you and chat in Philly at your signing. I love how real and fresh you are and the passion to do what you do. Thank you for taking the leap and following your passions. Thanks for sharing with us. And MAJOR thanks for taking the time to come to Philly – you told me I could do it. Sounds so simple but really mattered to me. And my favorite thing – all of it — mashed cauliflower caught my big attention – eat it all the time 🙂
Mayo!!! Is that wrong? I make it all the time now, had never done so before. Also, the Moroccan meatballs and the sunshine sauce. Thanks for all the deliciousness!
Our household fav is the carnitas. The flavor is totally unique in a captivating way! So tender and yummy, eaten right at the stove. (How can it be crunchy and saucy at the same time?) And I love it because it made absolutely the best f’rice too – the extra sauce elevated it to sublime!
The Scotch eggs, because you introduced them to my life!
The Pad Thai recipe (with the sunshine sauce) and zuchini noodles is amazing. When I crave paleo/primal comfort food that is it… Of course the carnitas are awesome as well and the Cauliflower rice or Cauliflower mashed potatoes and the homemade mayo are used weekly!
The chocolate chili hands down! I could eat an entire pot in one sitting. I don’t but the point is I could.
The chocolate chili and the jicama home fries!!!
I absolutely love your chili! Thanks for this opportunity.
Well Fed is my all-time favorite cookbook. I’ve used it so much in the 6+ months I’ve had it that it is literally falling apart. At 41, I re-learned how to cook with Well Fed and it revolutionized my kitchen and how I feed my family.
There’s no possible way I can pick just one favorite recipe. The Best Stirfry Sauce Ever transforms a simple hot plate into something amazing, every time. Bora Bora Fireballs converted my oldest into a meat eater. I adore your ranch dressing, and your spice mixes are a staple in my kitchen now.
Love you, love your blog, love your cookbook.
my favourite well fed recipe is SCOTCH EGGS! those little protein pellets are perfect to eat ANY TIME, but most especially after a long day.
As popular as my choice may be, chocolate chili is my favorite! I love a good, thick chili!
Czech meatballs are great.
The bora bora fireballs, hot and spicy like me :))
Pad Thai… but I just bought the book and haven’t experimented as much as I want yet. Scotch Eggs and a bunch of the sauces are on the agenda.
Avocado Salmon Rolls and Sunshine Sauce! And chocolate chili! Oh, so much for just one 🙂
The czech meatballs mmmm!!!
I don’t have the book yet, but I’d love to try the Pat Thai.
Cumin roasted carrots, but I’m still sad that your roasted beet salad recipe didn’t make it into Well Fed. 🙂
I just ordered the book, so I have yet to try anything, but the first recipe will be chocolate chili!
My favorite recipe hands down is the Chocolate Chili!
Scotch Eggs–fond memories of the British Isles every time I make them and they pack well for picnics and travel!
Congrats on the one year anniversary!
I love Rogan Josh! So delicious! I made a jar of Rogan Josh mix and Ras el Hanout as a Christmas gift for some friends and they were so pumped! Thanks for all of your wonderful recipes!
I love your cook up plans, and am most excited about trying some of the curries. I looked up your site to make some Rogan Josh today with beef instead of lamb.
I’ve made the chocolate chili recipe more times than I care to count. It rocks! Also your recipe for paleo mayo is the easiest to make of all the recipes I’ve tried.
Melissa, I love your recipes from your book as well as your site..you are an inspiration to so many so thanks to you and Dave :-).
I think Chocolate Chili and merguez balls( not from well fed ) are my favorite recipes.
Happy Holidays !
I’ve made a bunch… pad thai, maki rolls were the two most recent.. but I would love to try the Bora Bora fireballs! I’m also cooking three meals a day at my parents for the next 3 weeks while I’m here for the holidays (they are mostly Paleo, too). 🙂
I have yet to try any of the recipes from Well Fed as I have just convinced my husband to try this lifestyle change. Based on everyone’s response I am super anixous to try the Chocolate Chili and Sunshine Sauce. I am looking forward to a Dino-chow dinning experience.
Chocolate chili is my favorite
I love love love your Sunshine Sauce! I can eat it by the spoonfull! And, your recipe was my reason for first experimenting with Sunbutter, yum!
The Pad Thai. My husband declares it a ‘game changer’ for anyone thinking about going Paleo.
Hands down, chocolate chili, but in all fairness I haven’t tried everything yet. 🙂 Can’t wait for Well Fed 2!! I also do love all the dip options for the homemade mayo.
The Moroccan Meatballs are my favorite recipe, so far. However, everything that I have made from Well Fed has been awesome! Your cookbook even helped me get my husband onboard with Paleo!
Oh my goodness! What an awesome giveaway! Thank you! There are too many of your recipes to list that are my favorites, but I guess I’ll have to say my number one favorite is the Chocolate chili because it is ultra mel-icious and it makes me not miss the beans. Plus Ras el hanout, coconut chips, how to cook spaghetti squash, sunshine sauce, and on and on…Your cookbook is my #1 favorite!
I have only made the Pad Thai so far and it was awesome!
I recently started researching the Paleo lifestyle so I am trying to read and absorb everything I can get my hands on in order to be ready to start the 30 challenge on Jan 1. I saw the book on Amazon and found this site. I immediately downloaded the sample of the book and was amazed at all of the information and great recipes in just the 30 pages!! From what I have seen, I think the Chocolate Chili will be a huge hit with my family. I can’t wait to see what’s in the whole book (it’s on my Christmas list)!! There are so many great tips and tricks!! I am so excited to be becoming part of this community!!
I love the Paleo Pad Thai but that’s a derivation of Sunshine Sauce which might be the best thing ever. I make Triple batches and freeze it so I’ve always got it on hand.
I will say I’m still raving about the Stovetop Carnitas.
I just love the fact that it is good food that I could serve to anyone Paleo or not.
My husband would say the shepards pie (he has been craving it for months and I finally made the “friendly” version in your book) but I believe that the best is the Pad Thai. There is something about the depth of the flavors (hello Sunshine sauce)and the variety of textures that make my mouth do a happy dance!! LOVE LOVE LOVE.
Thank you for putting together awesome combinations that are pretty easy to make!
If I must pick one, I’d have to go with Pad Thai. I LOVE this book, so much that the cover fell off. Nice that you made it available in pdf, now it’s protected in plastic! Can’t wait for Well Fed v2. Thanks for a fabulous tasting year! ( I still want to marry you!)
The pork carnitas. Seriously, I could eat that every day for the rest of my life!
Paleo Pad Thai – perfect comfort food. And I usually make a double batch of sunshine sauce so that I have some on hand to dip veggies in.
Every recipe that I have made has been awesome, I can’t wait for the next book.
Thanks Mel for all your posts! My favorite so far is your chili. I make it once a week. But I cant wait to try the Char Siu, I love Chinese BBQ pork.
Bora Bora Fireballs…with Sunshine Sauce. Love the pineapple and coconut sweetness with a spicy bite (especially with the Sunshine sauce). They take a little extra prep time to roll all the meatballs which makes them taste even better.
I purchased the cookbook for some friends this year and was writing on my favorite recipes in their book…turns out that was pretty much every page!
Thanks for all your inspiration and sharing!
I cannot wait to try that sunshine sauce! I too have missed having peanut sauce on Asian dishes!
I think it’s a tie between the Best Chicken and the shrimp but pretty much anything in the cookbook makes me want to eat way more than I need to.
Chocolate Chili! Need I say more? Your recipes rock my socks off!
Im looking forward to making the Scotch Eggs.. I knew your book was a winner when I saw that it used Sunbutter.. my favorite find this year as well !
The Pad Thai is to die for!
Looking forward to trying your scotch eggs!
I’ve actually done a mashed cauliflower/turnip variation but yours sounds quicker and mo’ bettah. Stay well and happy holidays to you both!
We’ve tried the awesome Cumin Roasted Carrots so far and loved them. Digging into the whole book when we start our whole30 on Jan 1. Can’t wait. 🙂
Your Chocolate Chili! It is the BEST chili I’ve ever had! I didn’t even miss the beans! SO GOOD!
The chili recipe. I make it at least once a month. We’re making it over the Christmas holiday too, since it feeds a lot of people. Well Fed is my most-used cookbook (wonderfully worn w/ post it notes for tabs to my fave recipes, notes on some pages about how I like things, etc). I’m buying one for my mom for Christmas.
I love the chocolate chili. I love so many of the recipes, but this is my go to. I love that each of the recipes can be changed, altered, modified to fit different spices, etc. I already do that anyway so it makes your recipes the best around!! THANK YOU!
I love the Meat and Spinach Muffins, and so does my husband. I make them at least once a month. So easy to freeze and pop out when you need some. Thanks!
It’s basic, but the Mayo has changed my life. I love love love it. And as a bonus, I really like using it to make the Middle Eastern variation on Italian Dressing.
Thanks for all you do for us Mel! You’re inspiring in so many ways, not simply in the kitchen. Best wishes for 2013!
has to be your Homemade Mayo recipe – it’s the thing that i always have in my fridge. love well fed and have been consistently inspired by you guys!
The Chocolate Chili! I love making it with bison!!
Do I really have to choose just one?? It would probably have to be the Shepherd’s Pie–it’s so delicious that I never have to worry about too many leftovers! (And the mashed cauliflower has changed my life–I eat it with everything!!)
The cinnamon beef stew is awesome.
The Pad Thai looks amazing! I will be starting the Paleo diet at the beginning of next year, and that recipe will definitely help me deal with my noodle cravings!
I LOVE chocolate chili and Meatza! But really I would cook ANYTHING in this book. Its amazing.
chocolate chili, of course! is there anything better??!!
My favorite recipe is the roasted spaghetti squash because I could never figure out how to cook it properly and now I eat it all the time. It is so versatile and definitely solves my pasta cravings.
Oh my, the Pad Thai. My hubby and I eat it at least twice a month. So quick, so easy, and SO GOOD.
meatzza pizza is a go-to recipe! love it
The caramelized coconut chips? A-mazing!
My favorite WellFed recipe is whichever one I am eating! But I probably use your Ras el Hanout recipe the most often at the moment 🙂
Just one? Paleo pad thai is my go-to when I feel like off roading. It is so delicious that I feel like I’m indulging even though I’m sticking 100% paleo!
I’m seriously hoping to get a copy of Well Fed for Christmas this year. It’s in my Amazon Wish List so hopefully some family members take the hint. 🙂 One recipe I’m looking forward to trying is Egg Foo Young. That was totally my guilty chinese food pleasure growing up.
Congrats on the great year!
Hands down it is the mayo. I use it, and many variations of it, just about daily.
Merry Christmas to you and Dave!
Love your blog! It is on my favorites toolbar and is one of my must reads.
Chocolate chili sounds intriguing. Must try! Actually, this is only one of many must try recipes here.
Thanks Mel. Keep up the great work.
Happy Holidays
Easily the Caulifower fried rice. I constantly have a batch of “rice in the fridge and I love it with fried eggs and bacon. Yummm! I think I might go make some right now. Thanks!!
Congrats on your one year anniversary! I’m new to paleo and purchased your book a couple of months ago. Lemme just say that I have loved every recipe I have tried. (I never knew mashed cauliflower could taste so good and I’m currently in a love affair with kale). My favorite recipe is the Chocolate Chili. I have made it about 6 times (including last night) and I swear it tastes better each time I make it. Thanks for being so awesome and I will see you next month for your Whole Foods class (I’m an Austinite too!).
I am in lourve with the BoraBora Fireballs – they’ve got a silly name, they’re delicious, and I got to surprise my friends with their spicyness! Also, I just like meatballs because they’re weird, fit into plastic bags, can be eaten in bunches or singles, and have ties to a super funny TV Show.
By far your Scotch Eggs. It’s a little weird, by I always imagine them being in my Christmas stocking… better than any candy anyway.
I love Well Fed so much, with the great instructions on weekly cook-ups and how to switch around recipe flavors but I have to say that my favorite recipe is the chocolate chili. It gets made at least once a month and is the best to have in the fridge for quick and tasty leftovers.
I love ALL the recipes in the WellFed cookbook. This is the absolute best cookbook I have ever purchased. All the recipes are so good.
My absolute favorite is the Moroccan Meatballs. I am actually making them tonight for dinner.
Congrats on a great 2012.
We loved the Coconut Almond Green Beans at Thanksgiving, and the Scotch eggs are on my list of recipes to try.
Meatza Pie! I always avoided a lot of meats — until I started following this website and the Whole Life Challenge. This recipe is great for people like me who work a 10 hour day then head to Crossfit for an intense workout. By the time I get home I am searching for something filling, packed with protein and delicious. This recipe is perfect for my afterwork/afterworkout prize!
I just got Well Fed as a birthday gift and I’m loving everything I’ve made so far – I love the weekly cook-up, since that’s how I’m most likely to cook 🙂
But what I’m loving most? Creamy Spice Market Kale – I’m a recent kale-aloholic, and new ways to cook it make me SO HAPPY!
Looking forward to trying the chocolate chili and the mashed cauliflower.
Congrats on one year!
Well i’m from Europe so i can’t participate, but i want you to know that i LOVE all of your recepies, especially the eggplantstrata! My dad loved the baba ghanoush as it reminds him of Egypt and i made – for the first time in my live – the home-made mayo. nomnom!
I pretty much love all of the sauces. So many basic dishes can be transformed into a variety of cuisine. Sauces can make or break a dish (and a diet). The first time I tasted sunshine sauce though…I must have been radiating sun-beams of foodie joy. I guess the name implies it all, though!
Looking forward to getting this book and can’t wait to try the fried apples – they sound amazing!
Favorite? That’s so hard! I’m going with…garlicky mashed potatoes.
Coconut chips! My daughter (9 yrs old) and I LOVE them!!!!
There is no way I can pick just one…The Carnitas rock my world, and I just love the morrocan meatballs. The coconut chips were my “crack” for a while and I will NEVER eat store bought mayo again. Congrats on an amazing year of accomplishments!
I just made the Italian Sausage Seasoning blend again. I use it all the time. I love your book, and I love your blog!
Best Ever Chicken. My entire family loves this it is so moist and flavor full. Second best is chocolate chili
I’m sure I would love the Meatza Pie in all it’s variations.
There are so many that I love and make over and over but if I have to pick one it is the Citrus Carnitas. So true.. it has replaced bacon as my favorite use of pig! I could eat it every day!
Definitely the prosciutto and spinach muffins!! I can’t wait to make them!
I was on Evolutionary Psychiatry/Emily Deans and she was talking about your cookbook and mayo recipe. I will be trying that out. Looked at your table of contents and see egg foo yong and the chinese bbq pork. Made my mouth water!
Can’t pick one!!! I love the Czech Meatballs over Zucchini noodles, the Pad Thai. THE ROGAN JOSH!!! The Chocolate chilli. It’s all amazing.
Pork carnitas! YUM!
Can’t wait to try to BBQ Pork Fried Rice! BTW just discovered your website and I’m loving it. Still new to paleo and Crossfit-but I’m hooked!! Now, if only I can get the whole family on board!
I have many loves from Well Fed, but two rise to the top… The Rogan Josh is so freaking awesome I can’t ever believe that it came from my kitchen! And the homemade mayo totally changed my world, I will never buy mayo from the store again! Looking forward to the next book. 🙂
Walnut and Basil Pesto — so yummy! (and Scotch Eggs!)
The chocolate chili and the best ever chicken are two of my favorites, I can’t pick just one! They are always on our menu list! Thanks for making this transition to paleo so much easier with your wonderful recipes. Even the hubby is diggin the food!
I have so many favorites. My go-to sauce for any meat is the Sri Lankan Curry Sauce. Amazing! My husband made Citrus Carnitas today – can’t get enough of those ever. Baba Ganoush blows every hummus I’ve ever had out of the water AND it’s more fun to say. Thank you for my most favorite cookbook!
Looks like many agree with me that the Chocolate Chili is their favorite recipe. But I’ve got to say, I’ve never been disappointed by any of your recipes. Greatest thing I’ve learned from your book? “You know how you could do that?” I ask myself that all the time – and not just about cooking!
I love the Shepherd’s Pie! I don’t even miss the potatoes.
I just got my copy of Well Fed today from Amazon as a college graduation gift to myself. So far (as in the 8 hours I’ve had the book) I’ve made the roasted spaghetti squash + garlic + onions. I’ve made the cottage flower pie before which seems pretty similar to the shepard’s pie recipe in the book so I’d pick those!
The Best Chicken You Will Ever Eat! I am new at eating paleo and have so much appreciated your blog. Thank you!!!
Mediterranean Tuna Salad sounds good! I love Greek food!
The mayo! I even made batches for all my co-workers for Christmas this year 🙂
I don’t have your book yet, though I really want it 🙂 I’ve made the chocolate chili and the coconut chips and they’re both amazing!
I love the Scotch eggs. Serious protein bombs! Usually I make them with a local brand of chicken sausage since I don’t eat pork. It’s really tasty to make the eggs mollet-style so they’re a bit runny. Portable sausage and eggs can’t be beat.
Sunshine sauce is my favorite, though I have only tried it using almond butter.
Really love the entire cook book though. Especially the hot plates section, taking the ideas in there has really been wonderful for my cooking.
I have heard amazing things about the Pad Thai!! I haven’t tried the book yet but would LOVE to get my hands on a copy!
For my birthday on Thanksgiving, one of my good friends bought me Well Fed and I read it from end to end within 30 minutes. Love this book! I’ve made a ton of recipes from the book and my favorites so far are the best chicken you will ever eat, the moroccan dipping sauce, and the middle eastern version of the creamy cucumbers. A surprisingly good recipe was also the char siu (I used chicken)… a really nice balance of spice, heat, and sweet. I’m so thankful I have your book! I’m bringing it home with me on my winter break (done with first semester of medical school, woot woot!) to cook for my newly paleo-fied family and give them ideas. If I win, the signed copy will be given to them!
That mayo recipe sounds useful! I once paid about $5 for a tiny jar at my local town (but in the middle of nowhere) grocery in an emergency.
Spilled on, notes written in the margin, and a broken binding from daily use. Love Scotch Eggs, but best of all is the weekly cook-up WOD that brought sanity to my Paleo crazy kitchen a year ago. Thanks.
There are so many truly amazing recipes in Well Fed. From the sunshine sauce, to the chocolate chili,Pad Thai to the Chocolate Chili. It has been my go to book for 2 months now. So far the hands down favourite in our little household (BF and I and 3 adorable birdies) is the EggPlant Strata. I think we could eat it everyday of the week.
Thank you for writing this and making eating Whole 30 style a complete pleasure.
Really, just one favorite?! The whole book is just amazing! I’ll say the Chocolate Chili and Cinnamon beef stew with orange gremolata. These are now my definition and standard for comfort food.
Hmmm, one favorite. Have to go with the Scotch Eggs. I make them with a combo of lamb and beef and italian sausage seasoning. They turn out awesome every time. I love them, period. Congrats on a great year!
I love the olive oil mayo!
I have so many favorites, but my new favorite is the Ranch Dressing. Yum!
My favorite Well Fed recipe is Paleo Pad Thai! That sunshine sauce is amazing!!
I have tried TONS from the blog, but haven’t had a chance to do too much from the cookbook. BUT, my favorite so far is the Pad Thai! SO MUCH like the real thing…but BETTER. Congrats on the great year!
LOVE the Best chicken I will ever eat- I have it naturally in my memory. love the Pad Thai too!! its a close second
CHOCOLATE CHILI!!!
But actually the weekly cook up thing is genius. Spending a couple hours cooking on Sunday helps make my weekly healthy eating much easier!
The Pad Thai with the Sunshine Sauce is so delicious! Thank you for delicious Paleo recipes. Things have come so far since I started eating Paleo 3 years ago.
It is between egg foo yong and scotch eggs – love them both! Also, congratulations!
What an amazing giveaway! I have no received my copy of Well Fed yet, I just recently went Paleo(ish) and have asked for a copy for Christmas! I love your blog.
The recipe I am most excited to experiment with is the Pad Thai. I was a sucker for anything Thai before going Paleo and would love the guidance for ways to benefit my taste buds without breaking my bad carb restriction!
Thanks for the opportunity! Merry Christmas!
BBQ pork fried rice! YUMMMM
Well Fed is on my wish list so I haven’t actually prepared anything from it yet (all the more reason I need to win one of the prize packs! 🙂 ). But I really like the looks of Moroccan Meatballs, Olive Oil Mayo, Ranch Dressing, and more!
Pad Thai – I’m always looking for ways to make my non-paleo favorites paleo friendly!
Czech Meatballs are the bomb!!!! Still can’t get enough of it 😉
Pick one? You’ve got to be kidding. I can’t. It’s a tie between the baba ganoush and chicken pad thai. I simply can’t choose. Please don’t make me. 🙂
The meatza pie is a must!! So many ways to make it and it’s always delicious as leftovers!
Middle Eastern Tuna Salad sounds delish! ;D <3
The Moroccan Meatballs and Creamy Spice Market Kale are tops on my list. Yum!
I love the confetti rice because its delicious and colorful. I also love the ranch, cumin/lime, and Moroccan dips as my son will dip all veggies in them!
Scotch eggs… so easy and delicious!!
I have to go with the avacado salmon rolls. Two of my favorite things.
It’s hard to pick only one. Southwest Cumin-Lime Dressing…..I love finding new ways to season dishes.
I love the Chocolate Chili! I’m always pressed for time and looking for new recipes for old favorites. It was outstanding and easy!
I’ve made almost every recipe in Well Fed and picking only one favorite is so hard! Since I have to, I’m going to go with Citrus Carnitas – they are so good! Renaming them “pork crack-nitas” would definitely be appropriate. Also, your weekly cook-up instructions have revolutionized my meal planning and prep! Congratulations on your successes this year and thanks for sharing amazing stuff!
Although I absolutely love a whole lot of recipes, I am going to name the winner of favorite Well Fed recipe to be the Pad Thai. It truly comes together as a satisfying, healthy, and delicious recipe. I can’t get enough of your Pad Thai!!!!
you had me at Pad Thai!!! This is very generous of you and I’m always happy to find healthier recipes for my favorite foods!!!!
My favorite thing to cook (and more so eat) is the Citrus Carnitas. It’s a regular when company comes over and usually gets people to consider cooking for themselves!
I adore the Pad Thai. I could eat it everyday! I also like your idea of dividing cooking tasks up to make them more manageable. That has really been a lifesaver in my household!
It’s a toss up between the Maki Rolls (so easy and good) and the Chocolate Chili. Love the cookbook!
My fav recipe is your Rogan Josh one! So good!! Thanks for all you do 🙂
So simple, yet so yummy…Olive Oil Mayo, Love it! Dying to try the Citrus Carnitas!
After reading your site and getting the kindle version of the book– I’m using the recipes (especially the citrus carnitas) to urge my family onto a road of better health. After facing a cancer scare last spring — I’ve been on the road to good health and wellness. I am committed to bringing my brother and folks along! The food is so good that they don’t notice or complain! Thank you so much.
Fried Apples with Bacon & Pecans!
A friend recommended Well Fed very early in my journey, and I am so happy. I think my favorite recipe is the first — whether I remember to make the sauce or not — and that is The Best Chicken You Will Ever Eat Ever Ever Ever and Forever. Thank you! So looking forward to the new book.
Greek Beef Stew! It is as easy as you say it is…and soooo incredibly tasty. Thank you!!
I have to go with the Chocolate Chili…. sounded so gross … but was dared to make it…. YUMMY… its on my repeat list… btw… wasn’t even finished with the book when I started recommending it to my sister… who bought it that night!
This book is actually on its way to me as a self-gifting for christmas. I cannot wait to go through it! I especially want to try the cauliflower rice pilaf because I haven’t yet tried any cauliflower rice recipes. But I’m most looking forward to Morrocan meatballs!
I want to say your coconut chips recipe is my favorite, because I carry them around with me at all time for my much needed munching in between meals, BUT I’m going to go with with your paleo pumpkin gingerbread cake. I’ve made it two Thanksgivings in a row now and I think it’s safe to say my family expects to indulge on this dessert every Thanksgiving going forward! It’s really exciting to share my paleo lifestyle with them and introduce them to some new, tasty flavors that they “can’t believe!!!” are paleo 🙂
Your chili! I put it on everything. Eggs! Sweet potatoes!
It has to be the mayo. I have tried so many different recipes and instructions, all of which failed miserably. But your recipe and instructions are AWESOME.
Before changing my diet I loved mayo and now I love it again.
Thanks
Just one? Pad Thai! The first time I fed it to my husband he didn’t even know it wasn’t “real”!
One word – MEETZA!!!! It’s my favorite because prior to paleo living (and still) traditional pizza is my favorite food. I love all the variations and plan to also try zucchini and cauliflower crusts!
Hands down, the Moroccan meatballs are the favorite in my house, usually served over faux cous made with dried apricots and figs, heavy on the cinnamon! My 8-year-old loves playing “How could we make this better” with every food we eat!!!
What a wonderful year you’ve had…Congrats Melissa and team!
I loved loved your Moroccan Meatballs…I could not get enough of them. They were phenomenal over spaghetti squash!
Thank you for the wonderful book and recipes!
Cauliflower rice pilaf. I had no idea cauli rice could taste so delicious!
The list of sauces looks wonderful…I’m fairly new to paleo eating and could use some good condiments to keep things fresh 🙂
I have yet to try any of your recipes but since finding your site I am dying to try the Peach Almond Crisp! I am in love with crisps and this sounds amazing!
While I haven’t cooked from Well Fed yet, I’m definitely interested in the Scotch Eggs because I’d like to find a Paleo friendly version, and also because I’m Scottish ^_^
YUM… I have yet to get my hands on this book – everything looks delish, but I’m going to have to go with the Bora Bora Fireballs – I LOVE spicy meat yumminess 😀
Congrats to you and your good-looking staff on such a successful year! I hear ya about the gratitude. I’ve had one of the most ordinary yet amazing years of my life in 2012 and have been really feeling the gratitude solidly for the past few months.
As for my favorite recipe in Well Fed…? That’s a tough one. WF is my go to cook book and I love so much of it. But if I had to pick something it would be the Hot Plates. Your method for a weekly cook up has changed our lives and the way we eat. We don’t stress about making dinner anymore. A close second would be the spice mixes and sauces: Ras El Hanout, sunshine sauce and the 30-second (literally) mayo.
Happy holidays!
The cookbook is on my Christmas list. Paleo pad thai calls to me!
It’s so hard to choose, but maybe the Meatza Pie. Thanks for the great giveaway!
I am dying to try the Bora Bora Fireballs!
I live the velvety butternut squash! It’s amazing!
Can’t wait to try The Best Chicken You Will Ever Eat. Chicken is my go to.
Velvety Butternut Squash! It’s the first time I’ve been able to get my 2-year-old to put anything squash-related into her mouth! We love it as is, with sweet potatoes as a substitute, or as a soup-base. It’s become an absolute menu staple.
I am totally going to cook my way through your cookbook. My favorite so far is the sausage seasoning
Chocolate chili! What could.be better on a cold day?
I’ve been trying a ton of recipes from your site but unfortunately I haven’t gotten the book for myself yet! (I did get the book for my sister and brother-in-law for the holidays..) Anyway, I would have to say that I’m incredibly interested in the char siu recipe because every so often I have a craving for dim sum and other delicious chinese food and I am willing to bet soup to nuts that your char siu recipe would fit the bill.
bora bora fireballs…… could eat them for most meals…
Mmmm…Mango-Shrimp Rolls!
Scotch eggs!
Well Fed has been on my wishlist for ever! So many good things to choose from I don’t know that I can pick just one. The sushi rolls caught my eye because I so miss sushi. I had Moroccan Meatballs at a potluck and they were amazing. I imagine there would be many, many favorites from this cookbook 🙂
The avocado salmon rolls sound delicious! I miss sushi and have been dying to try my own!!
I love cooking in my crockpot; it’s so easy and convenient. I’m going to try the Italian Pork Roast recipe. I frequently eat leftovers for breakfast in the morning. When you eat paleo; you break all the rules and expectations when it comes to eating the same ole(SAD)breakfast food.
For breakfast I can be caught eating some delicious bacon with a sweet potato or maybe left over chicken with broccoli.
Congratulations on your success. I look forward to trying many more recipes. Thank you.

Hi! I don’t have a copy of Well Fed (yet)! I want to try the Best Stir Fry Sauce ever. Looking forward to exploring your blog! I am fairly new to Paleo. My blog is launching in January! Congratulations on your cookbook anniversary 🙂
The moroccan meatballs look amaze balls!
Favorite is the peach cobbler (can’t remember the exact name) from you book. My daughter would eat this every day if I would make it for her.
Pad Thai! Yet so many more of the delicious recipes yet to try.
The whole concept of making cauliflower “rice” has been such a revelation for me, I cannot thank you enough – GENIUS. I made Asian cauliflower fried rice and did not tell my husband what was in it, and he really thought it was actual rice. SO GOOD. Rice was one thing I was really going to miss when I went grain-free. Not a problem now!
The Best Chicken You Will Ever Eat! And I’m looking forward to making Jicama “Potato” Salad!
The best chicken you will ever eat is my favorite! The title says it all!!
I’m hoping to receive it for Christmas, if not I’ll order it for myself. I’m most excited to try the sauces/dressings. I’m planning on doing the Whole30 challenge at the beginning of the year and I’m new to Paleo. I definitely could use some ideas on how to replace my salad dressing and marinades.
I would love the tuna recipies, tex mex sounds especially interesting.
I have been gluten and dairy free for over two years and am struggling with weight issues, I have been 80% paleo for the last 8 months with no luck, want to go full paleo but need more ideas on what to cook that my pickey husband will eat.
I love EVERYTHING in the cookbook, but if I had to pick one recipe it would be Paleo Pad Thai. It is so delicious, and totally hits the spot when I’m craving Thai food (which is once a week).
I have to pick one? That’s impossible! The mayo is in my top 3 fo sho – can’t beat the technique and I’ve never had it fail! Pad Thai is another must make weekly and the coconut chips are my favorite “I need something crunchy and salty right now” snack. Love the book and an eagerly awaiting the next one!
scotch eggs, done & done:)
My favorite recipe so far is the Citrus Carnitas. I have made them twice now (served in jicama taco shells) and the leftovers always disappear quickly. So simple and so tasty!
The chili of course!
I’ve made your chocolate chili a number of times. It’s perfect for a cold winter’s dinner!
I love your entire book! However, I just gave birth to my first child 3 months ago and your THAI CHICKEN SALAD PLATTER
Definitely “The Best Damn Chicken You’ll Ever Eat” and your “Mayo” and your “Sunshine Sauce”. I make those 3 things ALL THE TIME, but have made the chicken the most. LOVE YOUR BOOK!! THANK YOU!!
The carnitas! Though every recipe of yours I have made has been outstanding… Congrats on all the well-deserved success!
I am a mashed potato addict and once i made the califlower mash i was HOOkED! Also, the califlower rice has become quite a habbit also, YUM!
The grilled chicken thighs are a weekly staple in our house – so I’d pick those as my favorite!
My favorite recipe is the carnitas because: a) everyone in my (picky) family eats it, b) it is easy to make, c) I can make it ahead of time, d) it is incredibly delicious, and e) it is tremendously versatile, enjoying second showings in eggs, sandwiches, salads, etc. Thanks for a great cookbook!
Your recipes for Scotch Eggs and Pad Thai are amazing!
I love your entire book! However, I just gave birth to my first child 3 months ago and your THAI CHICKEN SALAD PLATTER with your GRILLED CHICKEN THIGHS and SUNSHINE SAUCE has helped me so much! I realized with my new infant that having at least one hand “handy” was important and the ease of being able to finger food that dish was great. Also, as a new mom, I don’t always get to eat as soon as dinner is prepared (if I even get to prepare that night) and that salad platter could be made ahead (like so much of your meals)and I could eat it when I got a chance without being disappointed my food was cold because it was a great cold dish! I loved that you gave me the SUNSHINE SAUCE as an alternative to peanut sauce to make it super tasty and taste like I was actually eating Thai. The ingredients were all so healthy and nutrient dense that I felt like I was able to nourish myself (and thus my nursing baby) with a bit more ease. Thank you so very much from this new mom!
Moroccan Meatballs… YUM! My husband even loved them and he is hard to please! Keep the great recipes coming! Thank you!
I have the book and I haven’t tried the chocolate chili yet, but want to. It sounds really interesting! Great giveaway, thanks for doing this.
Pad Thai sounds like a winner to me! I miss eating noodles! Im excited to try this recipe.
The bora bora fireballs are my absolute favorite but everything that I’ve made from your Well Fed book is just awesome and delicious! I have told lots of friends about your wonderful book and blog!
I actually just discovered you and your site! I just love it! So many tasty things to choose from but I have to say chicken thighs or citrus Carmelita’s I want to try both this weekend!
I do not have your cookbook yet and I looked over the table of content… there are so many yummy sounding dishes, but the one that stuck out for me was the BBQ fried rice. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Our family loves the meattza!
your Chocolate Chili made me an award winner in our office chili cook-off! (plastic award, and all) – which instantly became a favorite – BUT – I’m dying to try the Scotch Eggs, I’m so skeptically curious!
I like the scotch eggs! I’m hoping to get the book for Christmas!
Like so many others, there are too many favorites! However, I just finished scarfing down some leftover cocoa cauliflower – a recipe that wasn’t in my top 10 “oooh I can’t wait to try THIS!” list (um, you have Sunshine Sauce in the book and multiple uses for bacon – can you blame me for bumping cauliflower down the list??). Made it last night with Sarah F’s Easy BBQ Pulled Pork. My face is still recovering from the smashinggoodness of that pairing. Also! My dear hubband, who normally “accidentally” gives himself less vegetables, went back for seconds on the cauliflower! Didn’t even have the self-control to leave himself leftovers for his lunch today! THANKS MEL!!
i made the butternut squash for a friend who literally cried when he ate it, saying it was triggering “childhood memories i don’t even think i know i have”
🙂 amazing recipe, amazing book.
thanks – –
I make cauliflower rice ALL the time, pilaf or fried rice. And I love the mayo variations for dressings/dips. Not to mention hot plates really made my life so much easier.
This is a fantastic give away! Thanks so much for all you do!
This book has been on my wishlist forEVER so I do not yet own it or have had the privilege of cooking from it but given the chance, I’d definitely start with The Best Chicken I Will Ever Eat!Chicken is a favorite to all of my 6 kids, so I make it weekly. Thanks so much for this opportunity 🙂
MEATZA! My boyfriend even eats it!
The meat and spinach muffins sound good for a lunch box.
Everything! Seriously, every recipe I’ve tried has been melicious! I especially love your no-fail mayo, your chocolate chili, your char sui, butternut squash, how to cook spaghetti squash and all of your anecdotes and ways to cook things differently. Your cookbook is THE BEST and I love it. Thanks for your generous heart Melissa!
The book is on my Amazon wish list, so crossing my fingers for Christmas!
Also, I want to cook the Pad Thai! It’s one of my all-time favorite comfort foods, and one of my main Paleo cheats. Oops!
Thanks for the awesome site and unending inspiration.
Paleo pad Thai! Just a great dish! Can’t wait to hear who the winners of this great giveaway are! Your book “Well Fed” is great!
The one I share most often with non-Paleo people is Chocolate Chili.
We also love Rogan Josh a LOT. Before we started eating primal/paleo, we never ate lamb. Now we eat it as often as we can afford it. 🙂
Definitely the chocolate chili!
I don’t have a copy yet… been to the bookstore twice and they were out, waiting to put together a whole online book order. Have made the mayo and the pesto from the whole 30 which were great since I love sauces!
Chocolate Chili sounds like a winner to me 🙂
Hi Melissa – I think what I love most in the cookbook in addition to the recipes are the little tips (how to steam sautee) and the sauces like the Chimichurri and the Pestos. Those make my meats, canned tuna and veggies taste amazing. Thanks so much for an awesome book!
I don’t have your book yet, but I want to make Rohan josh. I did make your pumpkin bars, which were delish!
Oh, dear. A dilemma indeed. Many many favorites–I got a copy of Well Fed straight off the press for Christmas last year and have cooked, happily, nearly half the recipes.
But the one recipe I go to every other week: your Mayonnaise. Love this and it has become a staple in our kitchen. ! I also mix it with chopped parsley, chopped onion, dill relish, chili flakes, and seasonings to make a killer tartar sauce.
Bora Bora Fireballs. Sure hit every time and will be again I’m sure this week at the office potluck!
The scotch eggs are awesome!
I’d love to try the Pad Thai!
I haven’t tried any of your recipes yet. Well Fed is on my Christmas list. There are so many recipes that sound good, but I guess the Bora Bora Fireballs sound the most intriguing to me. I love spicy food!
Well Fed is now my go to cookbook. I do all of the cooking.
Our family has yet to have a recipe that we don’t like. The weekly meal plan is my favorite. Our family has used this for the past 60 days of W30 compliant eating.
Our single favorite recipe is the Pad Thai. This was a step out for our family, first going W30 compliant, but also to give a variety of taste experiences. It was truly rewarding to see two young girls (7&9) embrace a new flavor and have it be healthy.
THANKS!
The best chicken ever has changed my life! I make it in big batches, food saver, and freeze individual portions. The sauce keeps it yummy once I thaw and reheat. So easy. Thank you!
I love love love many of the recipes and have made several multiple times, but my most precious find was the Ras el Hanout spice blend. I put that stuff in almost everything.
Love the cook book, please put out a second (and third, and fourth…)
Machacado and eggs with avocado relish has all my favorite food groups!
Citrus Carnitas!! That is the best!
I love egg foo young!! It’s so easy and delicious!!
Your book is on my wish list and I would love to try out the Chocolate Chili. So far, I love every recipe I have made that is on the website so I know I would love the book.
The Pad Thai is my absolute favorite. As someone who is one month into paleo, I LOVE having some of my favorite foods paleo style!
I would really like to try the Cinnamon Beef Stew with Orange Gremolata!! Thanks 🙂
The Rogan Josh rocked! My husband is begging me to make those Scotch Eggs so those are up next. I can’t wait to make the Pad Thai, too. Thank you- you really put together a fine cookbook!
I can’t decide which I loved more the pad Thai or the chocolate chili! Both are a hit around our house And I love the sun butter recipe I could eat by the spoonful!
I have not cooked from the recipe book yet, but the chocolate chili sounds divine!
I’ve had the ebook for a while, and I have to say that the “hot plates” has been great for showing my husband how I have always tended to cook, and having a recipe to do it is wonderful. We make different ones regularly. I haven’t made chocolate chili yet, but I think that’s got to be the favorite thing we haven’t tried yet.
Favorite Recipe? So hard to choose. If I have to judge from the ooohs and ahhs and how quickly a particular dish seems to disappear, it would be the Chocolate Chili. For myself, the Best BBQ Chicken ever – it is quick, easy and for the first time EVER for me, tastes better the 2nd and 3rd day than the first day…and I’m not throwing cold chicken out anymore.
LOVE the book. Love the Sassiness..and it has helped to change not only my life, but my family’s…and several of my friends who have now also picked up a copy. Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you.
Love your book!
our favorite is the Velvety Butternut Squash but it was hard to choose!
thanks for the giveaway!
Amy
Starting my first Whole 30 in January, looking forward to trying many of your recipes! Pad Thai and Chocolate Chili are on the top of my list.
Chocolate chili – the first everyone in my picky house will eat!
I need to change my answer! The Scotch Eggs, for the simple fact that pork rinds are an ingredient. My husband has never love me more 🙂
The Tex Mex Tuna salad sounds amazing! I would love to try this recipe!
it would have to be the Bora Bora fireballs. I just can’t go back to “normal life” after these beautiful balls passed my lips. (tee hee hee!) and yes, i am totally saying that in a Shwetty Balls voice from SNL fame. Love your blog, love your food. I am grateful for you!
Made and loved the Velvety Butternut Squash for Thanksgiving and am having the Cumin-Roasted Carrots with my pork roast(seasoned with Ras-el-Hanout) tonight!
Oh my. How do I chose a favorite? Perhaps we can go with my favorite of the month FOM, Toasted Cauliflower. MMMMmmmmmmMMMMMmmmmmm……. With a runner up of Phad thai.
Citrus Carnitas . . . well because it has both citrus and carnitas!
Most I have tried are awsome, but this one just hit home for me.
Keep up the good work.
I love your Bora Bora Fireballs! My husband and I have really enjoyed getting to know you through your blog and love your cookbook. Thanks for all your inspiration! Cheers~
I JUST received my copy of Well Fed last night! I’m so excited to make Cinnamon Beef Stew with Orange Gremolata.
Although, a friend gave me a copy of the Meat and Spinach muffins recipe and they were awesome!
Thank you for the fabulous new recipes!
Seriously, it is hard to pick one. Bora Bora Fireballs with Sunshine sauce was the hit of a Christmas party I just attended (and the Sunshine sauce may have converted my hostess to a healthier way of eating!). So that is my favorite for this week. It’ll be something else next week, I haven’t made a single recipe from that book that I haven’t enjoyed.
PS, having trouble being patient for Well Fed: Chapter Two.
chocolate chili sounds awesome!!! I needs it! lol
I haven’t read this book yet, but I put it on my Gift List for the holidays! (so, I’ll be cooking from it soon 😀 )
The Cumin-Roasted Carrots sound AMAZING! Among everything else…!
Best chicken and homemade mayo. Yum!
Am I too late to enter???
If not, I think the Rogan Josh sounds SSSOOOOO tasty!
Sunshine sauce, without a doubt!
My favorite is chocolate chili!
The Weekly Cookup How To! I love organization!
Chocolate Chili!!! Yummy!!!
Spaghetti squash!! I always ruined mine until this recipe….don’t know how but I did…
This recipe made me try once again and it was a hit!! 😀
My fave is the Italian Sausage Eggplant Strata, for several reasons. 1) I managed to eat eggplant successfully for the first time in my life 2) it uses simple ingredients that are easily accessible, love that! 3) my kids (ages 2 1/2 and almost 9) DEVOURED IT! Getting a toddler to eat broccoli can be a challenge and mine wolfed down eggplant because of this recipe! 4) it makes for kick ass leftovers!
Congrats on all your success!!
The winner: Chinese BBQ Pork, Char Siu
Thanks!
The mayo….Easy to make and AWESOME!!!!
olive oil mayo!
so tired of screwing up the emulsifying process;
have been using a spectrum mayo, but, I know it still no good for me.
chimmichurri would be my next choice.
thanks for a great blog!
If you leave the egg and lemon juice in your processor bowl for several hours to make sure they are room temp, you will not have any problems making mayonnaise!!
That is the key!!-Give it a try and NEVER buy store bought mayo again!-
Salmon a l’Afrique du Nord is definitely my favorite. The way the spices blend with the citrus juice just amazes me every time I make it.
I love the chocolate chili but the ras el hanout seasoning is something I use almost daily!
Chili and Mayo. Not together of course! Thank You!!
I can’t wait to try the Cinnamon Beef Stew with Orange Gremolata.
My favorite recipe is the Citrus Carnitas! I just made them tonight! I love the intensity of the citrus combined with the cumin and coriander!
BBQ Pork Fried Rice, I can’t wait to give it a try. I’m brand new to Paleo, bought your book and found out you are an Austinite, too. Awesome!
Thanks!
Wow, I have to choose? The Meatza Pie rescued my husband’s hope that this diet was sustainable, the Sunshine Sauce blows my mind, but the Italian Sausage Seasoning might have to be my favorite. We don’t eat pork anymore, so having a quality sausage seasoning has brought many a happy meal to our table again.
Basil and walnut pesto sounds fabulous. Just starting on my journey so have not tried anything yet. Lots of the recipes peak my interest
Not sure if it’s in the book but I love your toasted coconut chips and carry them in my purse at all times!
I LOOOVE the Bora Bora Meatballs. I even got my hubby on board, and he’s the pickiest eater I’ve ever seen!
the carnitas are AMAZING. so easy. so delicious. i think i made them every week for a solid month.
When comments started rolling in on this post, I had every intention of responding to each of them individually. Your words are so sweet and supportive and I love the stories about your adventures with Well Fed. But now there are 485 comments on here! Which is just what I mean, you guys: YOU ARE AWESOME.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and for coming with me on this adventure. Consider yourself invited for TWO dinner parties in my yard, and please, stick around for dessert and an after-dinner cup of tea. Happy holidays to you!
