How freakin’ excited are you for winter fashion?!
This is sort of a public service announcement about Namakan Fur. It’s a real-people-owned company that makes very fashionable faux fur ruffs and puffs that attach to just about anything with super-strong magnets. The weather is getting colder, the holidays are coming—this seemed like a great time to remind you about how much I like this company.
About Namakan Fur
I’ve been friends with Molly, one of the founders of Namakan Fur for years, and I’m so thrilled for the success of the company. I’ve been madly in love with my Namakan Fur ruff since I supported their Kickstarter campaign last year. The ruff is super-cute and warm, and it attaches to the collar of my coat with magnets that simply do not let go.
Here I am, wearing it during snow season. (My mildly disgruntled expression is because the lovely snow was beginning to turn into rain.)
This year, Namakan has introduced oh-so-adorbs magnetic faux fur puffs that snap onto any beanie. The puffs are like fashionable tribbles, and I love them so much. There are 16 (!) colors for the puffs and 6 colors for the hats. SO MANY FUN OPTIONS!
The Back Story
Given how totally craptastic the news has been lately, I really love the story of Namakan Fur. Ingenuity! Enthusiasm! Friendship! Optimism!
In the winter of 2014, Maggie Davis stood at a St. Paul, Minnesota bus stop, freezing her butt off. The previous day, she’d worn a parka with faux fur trim on the hood. But on this day, she wore a coat without faux fur trim. She noticed that she was so much warmer with the fur. Her analytical brain started working on a way to transfer her faux fur ruff from one coat to another.
As it turned out, you can’t. They either zip or snap on to the coat they came with. A one-trick pony! That’s why Maggie invented Namakan’s faux fur ruff. Using patent-pending design, this new ruff attaches to any hood, collar, jacket or sweater with super-strong magnets.
Maggie teamed up with Molly Mogren Katt and Liz Doyle Skophammer to build the Namakan brand. As born and bred Minnesotans, they know that with the right gear, there’s no such thing as too cold. However, we’re all faced—FAR TOO OFTEN—with the choice of looking great and freezing, or staying warm in frumpy gear. Namakan Fur bridges the gap between winter style and comfort.
So… stay warm, my friends. Head on over to Namakan Fur for multi-colored awesomeness.
