Prague POD: August 12

In September, Dave and I are going on holiday to Prague. I’m going to eat a dumpling (and a strudel!), wear a black leather jacket, and walk on cobblestones. I’ve been asked so many times, “Why Prague?” that I’ve decided to show you.

It’s the Prague Photo of the Day (POD).

When we went to Paris in 2000, my favorite day wasn’t the one when we went to the Eiffel Tower in the rain (very romantic, but also sad) or when we went to Disneyland Paris on the train (although the Halloween decorations were awesome, and my kettlecorn was stolen my a goblin on stilts and returned to me by a witch. True story.).

No, I think my favorite day we had was when we strolled through the Père Lachaise Cemetery and then ate in a bistro where no one spoke English. Best. Croque-Monsieur. Ever.

So I’m really looking forward to exploring Prague’s Jewish Quarter (Josefov) and wandering through the Old Jewish Cemetery.

That cemetery is just just as stunning in person. Oooh, you're going to have so much fun!

I love old cemeteries because they're sad and spooky and peaceful and beautiful… and just an excellent reminder that both of these statements are true:
    1. We are all somewhat insignificant.
    2. What we do every day matters.

My favorite city! The hundreds of cupolas, the amazing statues on THE BEST BRIDGE EVER, the cobblestones (I took one home.) Back when I went (97) it was also very very cheap. I think that's probably changed. If you like amber jewelry, nesting dolls and Alfonse Mucha, you might want to bring an extra suitcase.
