My World-Famous Grapefruit Peeling Technique
I like to peel my grapefruit the way other people peel oranges — no serrated grapefruit spoons for me! When I was a kid, my dad would peel and section an entire crate of grapefruits and put them in the fridge for easy grabbing and slurping. I encourage you to do the same — and then give this Thai Pink Grapefruit Salad a try.

I lv them halfed, sectioned, covered in cinnamon, and broiled for 8 min. And today I will eat a whole one as waking up with sore throat.
My mom peels and eats grapefruits like oranges too! As for me, I cut them in half and eat with a spoon. Nom.
Okay, welp, DEFINITELY entering this one.
My fave way to eat a grapefruit is the same as yours. Peeled like an orange and devoured with juice running down my hands and chin. Only difference is, I can never NOT eat the other half.
i love eating grapefruit out of the fridge after being sliced up. it’s the easiest 🙂
it’s really good broiled too!
Just love ’em plain, peeled like an orange. Yummy!!!!
I used to like it halved and sugared, eating sections out with a grapefruit (serrated) spoon, but now I just peel and eat the sections.
I like to peel and eat them on a salad like mandarin oranges. Delicious!
With a spoon! Love grapefruit
Since going completely Paleo over a year ago, I only have fruit on occasion as a “dessert” in the evenings after dinner. Pink grapefruit is a favorite in the winter (even though I live on cold and blustery Cape Cod), simply peeled and eaten on its own, as nature perhaps intended. One of these and I don’t need chocolate or any other paleo sweets. Delicious!
I love grapefruit!!! It would be great to win 🙂
peeled like an orange!
I peel it and eat it like an orange too – yum!
cut in half, slurped up with my grapefruit spoon!
I’m from Texas and the grapefruit there cannot be beat!
My favorite way to eat a grapefruit is too just eat it by it’s plain old self – a good grapefruit is perfect as is in my opinion
I love grapefruit season. I like to eat them halved, sectioned and sprinkled with a little cinnamon.
Peeled like an orange. If I am really feeling frisky, I supreme several and keep them in the fridge. Yum.
Thanks for the great giveaway! I love grapefruit in a big bowl, heated up on the grill witb cinnamon and honey.
Love them chilled, then peel and eat. Will try them with cinnamon under the broiler, yummy! Love to win!
I peel them, open each individual section’s membranes, eat the pulp and then the membrane.
I peel & eat my grapefruit exactly like your video! They are so delicious I never add anything else.
I like them peeled and eaten like an orange, though I’m starting to explore cooking with fruit more. I would love to try them grilled! YUM
I like to cut them in half and eat them with a grapefruit spoon alongside a handful of raw almonds.
Yep, I peel them and eat them like an orange, a half of one (almost) every day. I used to cut them in half and scoop out the innards, but that made too much of a mess.
I actually own several sets of grapefruit spoons but NEVER use them for grapefruit! I mostly use them to scrape seeds out of squash or the flesh from an avocado. Ha!
I love grapefruit! I’m pretty old school…just halved with a spoon 🙂
Following as twitter.com/sandyhills25 . I love to eat it alongside my salad.
I usually peel them and eat like an orange too. It’s something I first picked up from a college buddy who was from Florida. I usually eat the membrane when I do that, just like an orange. Growing up, we did the halved and eaten with a grapefruit spoon route. Decorated with a maraschino cherry on Christmas morning. In later years when Mom “got healthy” we used to fight over whether that sprinkle of sugar was allowed.
Well, I’m originally from Texas, so I do love some Ruby Reds! I like them just as they are…..minus the peel, of course.
my favorite way to eat a grapefruit is to eat it like an orange! Cut it into wedges and dig in! Yummy!!! so healthy!
Just like they are!
Peeled and plain except for a bit of sweetener
I like to peel them and eat just the segment a lot like you do, but my favorite is when my fiancée lets me have half of his 🙂
I like my grapefruit just plain – straight up peeled and eaten!
Cold and Straight Up! The refreshing last that lets you know it’s sunny somewhere!
Halved, with a spoon, no sugar. Yum!
I love a grapefruit and avocado salad with a dressing made from the grapefruit juice gathered from sectioning the fruit and EVOO and a bit of muddled mint.
I like them sliced in half and eat the wedges with a spoon.
Peel it like an orange. Yum!!!
Um… juiced and with vodka – am I allowed to say that? But in the healthy mode, I really like using grapefruit in vinaigrette. The tangy-ness is great.
I love peeling grapefruit like an orange, and eating it alongside a latte.
I don’t really know, but having a box of them will help me figure it out!
Oh yum… Cut in half and dug out with a spoon, please!!!!
I like to cut them in half, sprinkle with a bit of sugar and eat with the special spoon for grapefruits.
I love to eat grapefruit just the way they are!
I love to peel it just like an orange.
Grapefruit and avocado salad!!
I love eating them just plain, but this salad sounds fab..I love lime too!
Just yesterday I read on another forum about Texas red grapefruits and I was bummed that we don’t get them here!
My favorite way to eat them is plain – cut in half and sectioned. When I was growing up my dad ate that for breakfast every morning and I thought it was fun to eat just like him 🙂
I love just eating them plain just cut up.
I like to peel them like an orange.
I like to peel them like an orange and dip them in salt. DELISH!
My favorite way to eat grapefruit is sliced and smothered with honey. Then I scoop it all out!
Half and scoop. Pink Goodness!
Halved with a spoon! Preferably my mom’s old-school, way too sharp but perfect, 1970s grapefruit spoon.
I enjoy grapefruit plain, nothing needed. I like to drizzle honey and hit it with the blow torch or under broiler for a sweet treat
I peel and eat them like oranges!
Loved the video — this is exactly how I eat grapefruit! I enjoy popping the whole section in my mouth and letting the juice burst out. I usually sprinkle with pink salt. Love, love, love grapefruit!!!
I’ve always cut them in half and eaten with a spoon, but I think I’ll be peeling and segmenting going forward! I am also intrigued by someone upthread who said they broil them with cinnamon. That sounds AMAZING.
I’m with you; peel ’em like an orange. Yum. Texas variety not so easy to find here. Florida variety? Uh, nope.
