Sometimes, when I’m hard at work typing and thinking, or cooking, or just generally trying to get ahead in the world, I take a break to see what Smudge is up to. Sometimes, she comes to me.
Sunday is meant to be our “Secular Sabbath,” a day to stay away from the computer and reconnect with ourselves and each other. Our intent is to read, relax, recharge. There is often a nap-disguised-as-watching-football on the agenda.
But today, I felt the need to write a few blog posts to reduce my general stress level and prepare for the week. Smudge felt the need to remind me what Sunday should be.

We were just debating at home last night whether cats suck the energy out of you or not, their ability to get on your lap and keep you from anything productive all day.
But I’ve decided they are actually promoters of Zen in the universe.
