In September, Dave and I are going on holiday to Prague. I’m going to eat a dumpling, wear a black leather jacket, and walk on cobblestones. I’ve been asked so many times, “Why Prague?” that I’ve decided to show you.
It’s the Prague Photo of the Day (POD).
This is the Prague Astronomical Clock (Orloj). The oldest part of the clock dates back to 1410!
The astronomical dial has a background that represents the Earth and sky, and surrounding it are four moving parts: the zodiacal ring, an outer rotating ring, an icon representing the Sun, and an icon representing the Moon. Each moving part represents a different way to orient oneself in time. This is particularly interesting to one who is alarm-clock challenged like I am!
And then, of course, there’s Mr. Death, represented by a skeleton. He strikes the time upon the hour.

the Prague i liked best in multiple visits was off the touristy trail a bit; i found the absolute hordes of persistently-drunk (insert several northern European nationalities here) in the central old town a bit tough to take, even as an enthusiastic beer drinker myself.
i was never there in the summertime, but if i had been, i would've liked to have gone somewhere like one of these:
