Smupdate! June 8, 2012

Sometimes, when I’m hard at work typing and thinking, or cooking, or just generally trying to get ahead in the world, I take a break to see what Smudge is up to.

This just in: Recipe testing has proven too demanding for Smudge and she has taken refuge in the re-usable grocery bags from our local HEB. I was chopping, stirring, and generally making a mess of the kitchen when I noticed her — sound asleep — inside the empty bag I neglected to put away in my rush to get cooking.

After two hours, I’d successfully produced Chinese Chicken Salad, Slow Cooker Indian Chicken Curry, and Thai Butternut Soup with Shredded Chicken. Smudge had accomplished a roll to the other side of her body.

Then Dave and I ate lunch, watched an episode of Hell’s Kitchen, and had a quick business meeting. Smudge continued to snooze.

I’m not sure she’s taking her responsibilities as CEO of Smudge Publishing, LLC seriously enough.
