How They Train

Time.com has a series of videos that demonstrate just how hard Olympic athletes train in preparation for their sports. I’ve chosen two of my favorites below: Noelle Pikus-Pace because I am a scaredy-cat of going fast and she’s not… and Apolo Ohno because at speed skating classes during my Roller Derby days, the goal was always to get low and tilt.

Some of Noelle’s warmup drills should look familiar. I love her description of “dancing down the track.”

Note the stairs workout in the speed skating video. I might be recruiting a group to join me in some similar stairs-tastic fun sometime soon. Looks like awesomely painful fun (painfully awesome fun?!).

For more training insight, check out all of the How They Train videos at Time.com.

Those stair exercises look fun. I might incorporate them at the gym 🙂 If you're putting together a group to try them out, I'd love to be part of that.
