Unleash the Warrior Within I think the title says it all.

Amazing Stories

Jane Eyre My favorite book! I re-read it every year, and it always tells me something different.
The Historian Descriptions of travel that will make you want to grab your passport immediately, plus spine-tingling vampire fun — all told in beautiful literary style.
The Picture of Dorian Gray Oscar Wilde shows us the vast differences between who we are, who we think we are, and how the world sees us.
The Book Thief Somehow manages to be heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time. A beautifully written story that’s also wildly entertaining.
The Night Circus Magical. I read it on a flight from Paris, France to Austin, Texas and never even noticed the 9-hour plane ride.
The Lost A real-life mystery about family, the Holocaust, and the things that drive us. It can be a tough read at times, but it’s completely satisfying. One of the best books I’ve read.
The Shadow of the Wind The most important thing to know about this novel is that it features a magical place called the Cemetery of Forgotten Books.

Kitchen Gadgets

Big-Ass Nonstick Pan This is the exact pan I use every day to make almost all of my meals. I usually have 2 or 3 going on the stove at once.
Bamboo Spoons My favorite tool for pan sautéeing, mixing in a bowl, and sneaking tastes of whatever I’m cooking.
Cheap-ish Knife: Farberware Chef’s Knife This is an awesome knife for everyday use, and the one I used until an awesome friend gave me a pro-level Westhof as a gift. I have good friends.
Expensive Knife: Wusthof This bad boy is like an extension of my hand in the kitchen. I love it unconditionally.
Paring Knife A helpful partner for your big ol’ chef’s knife — leopard print is optional, but highly recommended.
Large Plastic Cutting Board I recommend using the largest cutting board you can fit in your kitchen. This one is 30″ X 18″, and it is mighty.
Large Wooden Cutting Board I recently upgraded to this monster of a cutting board, and I’m thrilled. It’s a financial investment, but worth it because I chop a lot every day. Plus, it doubles as a weapon.
KitchenAid Food Processor This is the one I use in my kitchen, and it’s great for everything from chopping veggies to making meatballs, whipping up a batch of mayo to making coconut butter.
KitchenAid Blender I have a new-found love of coconut milk + banana + Sunbutter smoothies, and this thing purées like a boss.
Crockpot Programmable Slow Cooker Essential for easy-peasy roasted meats, soups, and stews.
Nonstick 5-Quart Chili Pot This is my go-to pot for soup, stew, and chili. It’s a workhorse.
Cast-Iron Skillet Perfect for stove-to-oven cooking like fritattas and my Perfect Steak recipe — plus it doubles as a weapon… just in case.
Colander Essential for washing veggies and sweating zucchini noodles.
Kitchen Scale I use it every day! Makes getting recipes just right so much easier.
Rimmed Baking Sheets Perfect for baking big batches of meatballs and roasting vegetables.
Precut Parchment Paper Makes baking and roasting so easy! Just slap a piece on your rimmed baking sheet, and you’re good to go.
Wire Racks Handy for cooling baking sheets and making baked sweet potato fries.
Disposable Gloves These make mixing meatball “dough” by hand — and shaping burgers, meatballs, and sausages — a snap!
Graduated Mixing Bowls As my dad always says, “Always, always use a bowl that’s bigger than you think you need.”
KitchenAid Standing Mixer There’s a reason this thing is the classic. It does EVERYTHING, and it’s practically indestuctible.
KitchenAid Hand Mixer No room or budget for the standing mixer? This hand mixer is also a solid option.
Cuisinart Stick Blender Super handy for blending hot soup or whipping up a quick batch of no-fail mayo.
Mandoline Slicer I resisted the mandoline for so long! That was just silly. It’s awesome for slicing cucumbers for salad and platains for chips.
Dry Measuring Cups I love the bright, cheerful colors. Makes exactitude fun!
Pyrex Liquid Measuring Cup Yes, you need both liquid and dry measuring cups. Trust me.
Measuring Spoons I might be a little obsessed with measuring – and I might have about 6 sets of measuring spoons in my drawer. Don’t judge.
Silicone Spatula I don’t like to leave even one drop of mayo in the blender or one speck of cauliflower rice in the food processor.
BPA-Free Storage Containers You need a lot of these to manage all your delicious food! These never leak, the lids stay on even when dropped (!), and they’re dishwasher safe.
Serious Garlic Press Confession: I suck at mincing garlic. This thing is a garlic-crushing monster, and I love it.
Silicone Brush Comes in so handy — for greasing bacing dishes, or adding a light layer of flavor to food.
Kitchen Shears Indespensible! For snipping herbs, cleaning chicken, cutting nori sheets, and more.
Good Tongs Good tongs are like having flame-proof hands. Perfect for turning things you’re browning. Browned things are delicious.
Zester Grater Awesome for making citrus zest, or grating ginger and garlic.
Julienne Peeler or Spiralizer Hello, zucchini noodles! (And sweet potato noodles. And cucumber noodles. And carrot noodles.)

Ham Dogger Turns any ground meat mixture into sausage in seconds. It’s magic!
Pancake Rings Make perfect burger patties and egg foo yong every time!
1-tablespoon scoop Turns a big bowl of meatball mix into meatballs in no time! Plus, they’re cute.
Bamboo Sushi Mat Comes in handy for making the paleo maki rolls in Well Fed.

Natural Calm A warm mug of Natural Calm is part of my pre-bed ritual. Helps me sleep soundly and keeps things “regular,” if you know what I mean.
