Our New Project: Strong Sense of Place
My new project is taking all of my attention right now, and I'd love for you to join me for new adventures! It's called Strong...
Read MoreTo celebrate Dave’s big milestone birthday, we’re going on an adventure to Paris and Reykjavik! I’m taking an actual, no-internet vacation, so you won’t see me back here until the end of March. Instead, you can imagine us here…

And here…

We’re going on a bike tour in Paris, shopping on the Rue Cler then having a picnic by the Eiffel Tower, visiting the Orangerie Museum to see Monet’s Water Lilies, and, of course, eating all the things! I’m really looking forward to steak frites at Bistro Paul Bert and whatever they come up with at L’Ami Jean. And it looks like the temperatures are going to be in the 60s, so I will finally wear something other than fur-lined boots and a down-filled parka.
That is until we get to Reykjavik, where I’ll be donning my silkies, coat, hat, gloves, and boots because we’re going an on epic adventure to explore Snaefellsnes — we’ve been promised a troll sighting! We’re also planning a meander around the cemetery at Hólavallagarður, a shopping excursion for handmade sweaters, and a soak for our weary bones at the Blue Lagoon.
I’m sorry to abandon you but travel always gives me new ideas for recipes, so I’m sure I’ll celebrate my return with new meal ideas for you. Take good care of yourselves while I’m gone!

Have a great time! Sounds like an awesome trip. Not paleo, but this post has me craving a pain au chocolat or an almond croissant…drooooool…
Looking forward to hearing about Iceland as well!
The internet WILL miss you, but have the best time!! I’ve always wanted to go to Iceland, so I’m looking forward to hearing about your trip there. Enjoy your trip and I can’t wait to see what inspires you in the kitchen as well!
Hope you have fun! That sounds like a trip of a lifetime!
Happy travels!
That looks like a fantastic trip!!! Already looking forward to “A Story in Photos” (or two!) upon your return 🙂
I’m about to head to Reykjavik too! Escaping SXSW for a Bjork break.
you HAVE to go to the hotdog stand in Reykjavik, it is every bit as good as everyone says and still one of the top 10 things I’ve ever eaten in my entire life. Whale sushi is best avoided, that was my one culinary regret there. Puffin is delightful though!
have a wonderful trip, it’s a great place!
That place is on our schedule! I can’t wait to try it.
Enjoy your vacation and break from the interwebz! 🙂
I second the hot dog stand! And the reindeer burger at the Icelandic Bar (Islenski Barinn) in Reykjavik is delish!
Happy Birthday! Hope it’s a fabulous trip and celebration.
