Our Thoughts Make The World

I saw this image on another blog this morning, and it inspired me to mash together a few ideas I’ve run across lately.

I agree: perception is reality and what we think impacts what we do – and that changes the world.

Then I remembered what Nora Gedgaudas said in her AHS presentation:

Emotions are biochemical storms in the body and brain.” and “We see everything through the lens of blood sugar stability, hormones, and neurotransmitters – and interpret the world around us accordingly.” Which means, practically speaking, what we eat changes our experience of the world.

So… if what we think makes the world and what we eat makes what we think, can we buy into this idea: what we eat makes the world.

Discuss.

(Don’t forget! First online Q&A discussion of chapters 1-9 of Nora Gedgaudas’s Primal Body, Primal Mind is this Friday, August 26. You still have plenty of time to get the book and read the first 100 pages. Join our book club! Details here.)

I like this and agree with the thought and feeling behind it….need to digest (no pun…ok-maybe a little, intended) my own thoughts more before I can turn it into words.

Candace Pert calls this “molecules of emotion” and I do believe our thoughts impact our bodies – the more I learn about nutrition (and Nora Gedgaudas’s work), the more I see the connection with how nutrition impacts how we think. It’s a vicious cycle if we’re putting crap into our bodies.

Like Devon, it’s intriguing and makes perfect sense, but I’m not sure how to elaborate on what that means to me with much more depth at this point. Something to ponder further on my nightly walk!
