BlogHer Food: I’m Goin’ To Miami

blogherfood
Blogher Food — the biggest conference for food bloggers to be found on planet Earth — is being held in Miami this year. I’m super excited to announce that I’ve been invited to be a speaker!

The panel is called “Picking a Path – The Traditional vs. Indie Book Publishing Route,” and it’s being moderated by Dianne Jacob, food writing teacher extraordinaire. (If you like the recipes in Well Fed and Well Fed 2, you have Dianne to thank because her book Will Write For Food taught me how to write a recipe so that other people can follow it.) We’ll also be joined by Matt Lee of Simple Fresh Southern. (The Lee brothers’ food looks so good. That Red Velvet Cake is probably grain free, right?!)

If you’re a food blogger, maybe you want to register and hit up the conference. Because I’m speaking, I can offer you a special registration code that gets you 30% off the registration fee. Just use this link and the promo code F14FFF. There are so many great sessions on the schedule this year — including me… YAY!

Plus, there’s this:

I can only hope Dave gets his hands on a fuchsia satin shirt like the one from Will Smith’s video.

That seems unlikely. Instead, we’ll probably explore the deco architecture, rent bicycles to ride along the beach, and eat some Cuban food. There is, however, always the outside chance that all of that Miami activity will inspire Dave to don some satin and do the salsa. We can only hope.

It has been years since we stayed in Miami but back then you had to get south of the boardwalk to get the deco architecture and Cuban food. Thought I’d tell you that in case it is still true.

Thanks for the tip! I haven’t been to Miami since I was about 11 years old. My most outstanding memory was going to a deli with my grandfather and eating a giant bagel with cream cheese. Also: sunburn. 🙂

I just got WF2 and made Mulligatawny Stew tonight for dinner – so good! I love your cookbooks. They are a joy to read and the photo’s and design are a delight as well. Thanks for expanding my food horizons with healthy, tasty food!

    • Mel says:

I’d glad you tried the Mulligatawny Stew! That’s one of my favorites — I make it at least once a month. Hope you have fun with the other new recipes. Thank you for your sweet words!

  • Lisa says:

Cool! I bought both your cookbooks. Awesome! I’m 2 weeks into Paleo and I’m hooked and inspired!! I can’t stop eating the pad thai. Thanks for the delish recipes and the great blogging!

p.s. I work in Miami. Just might check out the conference!

    • Mel says:

Thank you for buying our cookbooks! Really appreciate the support. Congratulations on two weeks of clean eating — glad you’re feeling good. And you’re just going to keep feeling better and better. Good on you!

This is so cool–congrats! Hey, just wanted to let you know that Well Fed 2 has been my go-to for my second Whole 30, and I’m joyfully eating like an effing queen over here on Day 18. Seriously. Every recipe I’ve tried is off-the-charts delicious (and I’m a committed home cook and annoyingly snobby foodie). I’m going to nominate you for a genius grant.

    • Mel says:

I’m really glad to know you’re enjoying Well Fed 2. Congratulations on tackling your second Whole30 — that’s awesome!

I gratefully accept the genius nomination. Thank you!
