Feeling Grateful

I’m having what I call a “time out” day in which I unpack my suitcase, stock up at the grocery store, throw myself into a Weekly Cookup, and wash-and-fold multiple loads of laundry. And as I’m shuffling around the house in my pajamas, glasses, and yesterday’s mascara (which according to Allure magazine is the “#1 skin care mistake you should never make”), I’m reflecting on our weekend in Estes Park and feeling ridiculously blessed and deeply grateful. To Cami, Cathy, and the YMCA of the Rockies for making our paleo throwdown a reality… to Nom Nom Paleo, Fitbomb, Holly, and Dave for being the most fun, supportive traveling companions ever.. to all of the beautiful people who joined us on Saturday to talk about paleo living… and to Eric and crew at CrossFit Estes Park for reminding me how much I love the hurts-so-good of CrossFit.

What a weekend we had! We saw breathtakingly beautiful elk, plus deer, cotton-tailed rabbits, snarky magpies, and one sneaky little badger. I reveled in cool temperatures and enjoyed the company of friends: old, new, and in between. I also ate some crazy-good caramel corn, and we talked. Boy, howdy! Did we ever talk up a storm. We actually closed down two (!) restaurants and had to be reminded by the staff that we should take our endless conversations elsewhere.

So I’m taking this day to get myself settled, cook quietly, and start another healing Whole30 (with bonus autoimmune protocol!… more on that later this week). Coming up, I’ve got a recap post of our time in Colorado, some really fun giveaways, and a few recipes that are still in the tinkering stage, but are almost ready to share. Well Fed 2 (More Paleo Recipes For People Who Love To Eat) officially gets underway this month, and I promise the return of Tuesday10 and Rants & Raves… as well as the much-anticipated newsletter I’ve been promising for far too long, along with some fun new merch (tall socks!) just in time for holiday gifts (for YOU or someone you love).

Whew.

While you’re waiting for all that good stuff, here are some posts with photos and stories from our Estes Park adventures. Nom Nom and Fitbomb did a brilliant job of capturing the special moments (and food!) in photos. Enjoy!
