Up In The Air

I’m traveling to Colorado today, so I’m neither here nor there… I’m up in the air!

(OK. Really. That was terrible, but I once I thought of it, I couldn’t let it go.)

Given that my head is literally in the clouds, you’re going to have to cut me some slack while you read the details below of what I’m up to.

Nom Nom Paleo made this graphic, and I shamelessly snagged it from her site. She rules; I’m naughty.

In an embarrassment of riches, I’m spending the weekend in the fresh air of the gorgeous Colorado Rocky Mountains with some of my favorite people at an all-day paleo shindig! The kind folks of YMCA of the Rockies (Hi, Cami!) and CrossFit Estes Park (Hi, Cathy!) have wrangled the hilarious and awesome Holly of Holly Would If She Could and my sister-in-the-kitchen Nom Nom Paleo — and me — for a day of paleo talk, food, and swear words. The three of us will be sharing practical tips and stories about our triumphs and stumbles in the on-going pursuit of a kickass, as-paleo-as-possible-but-still-fun life. Whew!

We have a packed agenda for the weekend! First, we’re doing a CrossFit workout on Friday morning. It’s been 10 months since I tackled a CrossFit workout at a box with a group, and I’m frexcited about it! Friday afternoon, we’re enjoying a tour of the YMCA of the Rockies, followed by a paleo potluck on Friday night. Saturday is our paleo throwdown — cross your fingers I don’t accidentally drop an f-bomb in that family setting! Sunday, I want to take an early morning hike, then we’re heading out to explore Boulder. Look for updates and photos from me on Twitter and Instagram (@melicious11) throughout the weekend.

When I return to Austin, production on Well Fed 2 officially begins! The frexcitement never ends!

P.S. If the weather gods smile upon us, Dave and I will be looking something like this for the next four days. Please give me fur hat weather. Please give me fur hat weather. Please give me fur hat weather.

Wooo! Good luck, and have a great time!

I dropped an F-bomb in front of a friend’s kid a couple weeks ago.

You have fur hat weather right now… and there will most likely be snow high in the mountains!

Having grown up in CO (and now living all the way on the other side of the country), I would give just about anything to be there at your paleofest on Saturday.

    Hope it’s a f***ing blast! 🙂

A paleo-fest in Colorado with you three?! I am so bummed that I cannot be a fly on the wall. Great food, great convos, my favorite state…ARGH! Perhaps someday I can hit a paleo-fest of some kind. 🙂

I’m new to your site and I adore it. You are da coolest. Rock on.

  • Casey says:

Yep, I saw snowcaps on the mountains this morning for the first time this year. I’ll be headed up to Estes tomorrow and cannot wait to see the fur hat in person! I think you should wear it for your presentation.

Make sure to drink plenty of water to avoid altitude sickness, especially if you’re doing a difficult workout upon arriving.

    Woohoo!

Welcome to the promised land! As an Austinite turned Boulderite, be prepared to not go home. If you have time while in Boulder, hit up CrossFit Roots, I have a feeling you and shop owner coach Nicole were separated at birth. Enjoy the fall colors, there are still stands of yellow aspens to be oggled!
