Oh, the webbernet! It gets me all riled up with dire news and mainstream idiocy, then blammo! it hits me with something so awesome, it must be shared. Welcome to this week’s collection of Rants & Raves!
I just didn’t feel like being cranky this week. I was excited about the Olympics, and we launched the Whole30 Daily. I only have one lame-o thing to share. And it’s pretty lame.
First, the man-cave, now this.
A grocery store in Manhattan has created a “man aisle” stocked with “barbecue needs, hot sauces, beer, cereal, soda, beef jerky, condiments and chips.” What are they trying to do, kill off the male population of the neighborhood with processed-food poisons?! And don’t even get me started on the ridiculously sexist ideas that there are “man foods” and “girl foods.” Everyone in the house who loves a big steak say, “Hell, yeah!” [Hell, yeah!]

Badass advice from a professional badass.
I’ve written about Henry Rollins punk-rockitude before, and this piece is a reminder of the fine brain inside his well-muscled, band-fronting physique. This video interview and accompanying article are a nice reminder to “… accept the uncertainty, pick a direction, and charge full steam ahead.” The video is ridiculously, awesomely fun and inspiring — and he’s a great storyteller. Invest seven minutes in your own badassery and give it a watch.

No one is more surprised than I to find myself so enamored of kundalini yoga. This article from Breaking Muscle explains some of the non-groovy benefits of my favorite yoga practice from a new research study. “The goal of the study was to determine if meditation might alter the activity of inflammatory and antiviral proteins that shape immune cell gene expression… Our analysis showed a reduced activity of those proteins linked directly to increased inflammation.”
Don’t tell me there’s nothing to eat…
