Don’t Eat Egg Salad From A Vending Machine

I’ll be away from the computer this weekend, but wanted to give you something to chew on while I’m gone.

Michael Pollan is the author of In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto and The Omnivore’s Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals. When he asked for readers’ favorite “food rules,” he received more than 2500 responses. Now The New York Times has made a neat little slideshow of Pollan’s 20 favorite tips.

Which got me thinking about my favorite food rules. Trust me, there are plenty. I’ll post more about my food rules over the next few months, but here’s a fun one to get you started…

Eat a tablespoon of Sunbutter before bed. Licking that spoon kicks off my “getting ready for sleep” ritual and the yummy, healthy fats help me sleep through the night.

Read Pollan’s Top 20 – there are some really great philosophies, family traditions, and wise-ass statements in there – then post to comments with one or two of your favorite food rules.

I’m excited to be part of the punk rock foodies at Food Renegade’s Fight Back Fridays. Get subversive with your food!
